[WTB] AMD K6 III 550

Yea, the fastest Socket 7 CPU with the "+" variant for some multiplicator changes is wanted

There are some good deals on eBay, but they are usually closed kinda fast for me and not featured the III+, only 2+:

...so I just wonder, where are the III+ at 550MHz hidding :D

Hi trodas I don't have any AMD K6-III+ 550-500mhz to sell you I only want to give you an advice.

I spent more than 2 years to find a good AMD K6-III 400Mhz that is stable on air with prime95 at 120x5=600mhz, and only for bench at 124x5=620mhz.

I think that is impossible to find an AMD K6-III 500-550mhz they are rare too rare.

AMD produced only few samples and only few mainboard can work with them.

In general all AMD K6-III 400mhz are able to reach 600mhz and more so if I were you, I would buy one of them.

Even AMD K6-2+ 550mhz are good! They can reach 700mhz on air easily and 128kb cache l2 on board are enough

Ah, that is why there are short supply of the 550MHz models! Thanks for the heads up!

And I did not only want AMD K6 III, but K6 III+ is a must

 

Indeed is true, that not many boards support them, but there are bios patches that helps, adding the support... so it this will work as advertised, then it should not be any problem for me to make these CPU's run in my Asus TXP4-X mobo.

 

2 years to find AMD K6 III that bench at 620MHz? Interesting. I find in day czech guy, that have AMD K6 2 500AFK. But it is not III and not + either...

 

And given the fact, that one can overvolt these CPU badly and easily, then I did not understand, why the problems...
