Posted April 7, 20169 yr Not sure if this is in the right section. If not, Mods please move. I swapped out CPUs on my Rampage Extreme from a E5200 to a E8600, no post. Thinking that I needed a BIOS Update, I put the E5200 back in the socket with no post. What I going on? April 7, 20169 yr I'd say check the socket for obvious signs of damage. If there are none, explore a little more around the board, particularly around the VRM and smoothing cap (on the back of the board, under the socket) area.
April 8, 20169 yr Unfortunately, it's pretty easy to blow a VRM on these boards. Pull out a DMM and start measuring resistances!
