arnavvr Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Not sure if this is in the right section. If not, Mods please move. I swapped out CPUs on my Rampage Extreme from a E5200 to a E8600, no post. Thinking that I needed a BIOS Update, I put the E5200 back in the socket with no post. What I going on? I have cleared CMOS and removed the battery.* Full System Specs: Asus Rampage Extreme Intel Pentium E5200 2x2GB Corsair Dominator v2.1 EVGA Supernova G2 PSU 500GB HDD MSI R9 290X Lightning Quote
Guest TheMadDutchDude Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I'd say check the socket for obvious signs of damage. If there are none, explore a little more around the board, particularly around the VRM and smoothing cap (on the back of the board, under the socket) area. Quote
xxbassplayerxx Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Unfortunately, it's pretty easy to blow a VRM on these boards. Pull out a DMM and start measuring resistances! Quote
