Bigchrome
Hi there! I've been out of the loop for a bit, and recently gotten back into dry ice/ln2 cooling. I'm noticing that I have a huge temperature delta between the base of my pot and the CPU cores, with the cores often hitting positive temps despite the pot being at -50c. Is this normal? I can't measure negative cpu temps so I have no way of really knowing if my chip isn't running all that cold - which is annoying. So, to my question, are people delidding these CPUs to change the stock paste when cooling with LN2/Dry ICE? If so, are you then reapplying the IHS, or just running on bare-die? Trying to get a handle on things here.
Chilli-Man
Yes, from skylake onwards it's almost mandatory to delid when going cold. Definitely want to reuse the IHS (can leave floating) unless you've got a specially modified pot for bare die.

But it's been tried again more recently with the latest techniques and knowledge re cracking with some success.
