bartx Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 (edited) Hello, I'm looking for some help figuring out the shunt mod for RTX A2000. This card has no external power connector and it's limited to 70W. Any ideas? EDIT: One of them is my bet, how to check which one? Edited April 7, 2022 by bartx Quote
asilverio Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I'm looking to do the same. If I find anything I'll let you know. Quote

Did you solder a resistor to both sides of the GPU? What were your MH/s results after the mod and temps, please share? Thanks Edited April 8, 2022 by vvtopbaby Quote
oinckpowa Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 (edited) @bartx cool! Please share the process and component parts you used. Tks! @vvtopbaby I've heard this is only possible on 6GB Edited April 8, 2022 by oinckpowa Quote

bartx Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 (edited) Here are the results: 1135 / 5600 in HiveOS @ 49.34MH/s I used 5mohm (miliohm) resistor soldered in parallel. but value is probably too low (power limit is set on very high level), my bet is that 20-50mohm resistor will cause reasonable power limit. Card takes 6-7W more from the grid in comparison to 1035/4200 settings (maxed out on water before the shunt mod). Simply 10% power increase for 10% hash rate. 12GB pcb is the same as 6GB, I don't see a reason why it's not possible on 12GB. Card is water cooled, running it on stock cooling is extremely risky in my opinion. Edited April 8, 2022 by bartx 1 Quote

Would be good to see the cooling setup. Thanks! Did you only solder a resistor to one side of the board as shown above, or did you use a second resistor on the other side? Schestex Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 (edited) BartX would you possibly do a test with a 40mΩ resistor? My guess is that ~8 watts more might be enough to achieve the 50MH/s. 70Watt with water cooling: GPU 27°C -> 45.8MH/s My guess after calculating ~78Watt = 50MH/s !? This also keeps us in a safe frame Edited April 26, 2022 by Schestex Quote
kwebbb Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Hey Guys, Do you think this increase in hashrate is also possible on the RTX A5000? It currently gets to 104.3MH/s (ETH) running into Power Limit (NVIDIA's Limit of 230W). So if this GPU is Shunt Modded, it should also get more MH, correct? Thanks! Quote

Either replace the original resistor with 4mohm or add 20mohm in parallel. 7 hours ago, kwebbb said: Hey Guys, Do you think this increase in hashrate is also possible on the RTX A5000? Please send me a private message, I have too look at it. You can be limited by various things. If you already hit your memory clock limits or temp is too high, then increasing the power limit won't give you any gain. Edited April 30, 2022 by bartx Quote
Schestex Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 (edited) So i did some tests: RTX A2000 cases: 1. Fanless - fan power over 3PIN conntector to Molex 100% Temp: 40°C 45,924MH/s 2. Watercooled Temp: 20°C 45,928MH/s Both runs in the max gpu powerlimit of 688mV. When i do now some calculations: 70W = 45,928MH/s -> ~1,524 multiplicator 50MH/s * 1,524 = 76,2W When we take a 0,5W resistor, we need 77W! To replace the 5mOhm with 4mOhm isn't a good idea 87,51W! I prefer for exactly 77W a 50mOhm resistor with 0.5W. or 45mOhm to have a little bit more power. Slot power 50mOhm: 82,5W Slot power 45mOhm: 83,3W This is in my eyes safer as 20mOhm New power limit: 87,51 and slot 93,8! Is there other hardware around as the PMD from ElmorLabs?
