Did anybody successfully try to crossfire two different R9 Cards. As they are all based on a different chip, i guess not, right?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to crossfire a 290x with a 290 for example. But I don't think you'll be able to crossfire a 290x with say a 280x or a 270x. I would be guessing though and I don't know for sure.
