  1. Cool :cool:...

    Any one interested and has an idea on anything they would like to see added, removed &/or changed this go around, please voice your thoughts. The more input the better.

    Really would like to this happen :)

    Any thoughts on a theme name?

    Should it be a TEAM comp or a MEMBER comp?

    I think it may be easier to do single member, as having that much server hw on a team may be hard. However I've noticed the team comps get more engagement because of the team nature. Like I know that there's a lot of single comps that I stay out of cause I don't have time but I'll make time for a team comp for the most part.

    For theme name I had an idea of either something like Double Vision or maybe something along the lines of Mo' CPUs Mo' Problems, just to through some ideas at the wall. Probably something the conveys multiple cpus or something.

  2. Yes we do want to get this official, but as mentioned best set for after ROG & Country Cup.

    I really wanted to represent as many sever sockets as possible, but there is no way this go around. Maybe next comp we could do all the older platforms like slot-1/2, socket-8 etc but for this go at it lets see how many will play :D

    No cooling limitations. A pain to verify anyway.

    Stage 1:

    SINGLE SOCKET (0ne CPU)

    939 (opterons only) SP1

    G34 x265 1080P

    775 (xeon only) PiFast

    2011 x265 4K

    STAGE 2:

    DUAL SOCKET (2 CPUs)

    940 = 3DM03 (any single GPU)

    G34 = 3DM06 (any single GPU)

    1207 = 3DM11 (any single GPU)

    771 = Fire Strike (any single GPU)

    1366 = Vantage ( no limit on GPU count)

    2011 = GPUpi (no limit on GPU count)

    STAGE 3

    TRIPLE SOCKET (3 CPUs)

    Any socket that can run 3 CPUs = GPUpi 1B for CPU

    Stage 4

    Quad Socket (4 PUs)

    1207 CB15

    G34 y-cruncher 1b

    2011 GeekBench Multi-Core

    1567 Wprime1024

    Stage 5

    Bring what you got, no number of cpu limits any server socket(s) goes ;)

    1: GPUpi 100m

    2: RealBench HWbot

    3: CB11

    I'm not good at knowing what 3D bench works best in conjunction with what socket, hope I got it.

    If its good with you guys, (i'll wait a few days first ) I'll speak with Websmiles to see if this could be setup.

    I hope we can come together to get this going.

    Pretty good list, just 1 recommendation, for Whycruncher do 10b as the ram requirements for 1b are kinda lame (4 GB) as opposed to 10b's proper server ram requirement (40gb). Especially on 4p it shouldn't be too much to ask the competitors to run a boatload of ram.

    Other than that my only question is does pin mod qx9775 count as a xeon? :P

  3. I look at Overclocking/Benching as my "Cheers" or after work drink at the bar where all your friends are. LN2 is a good way to cool down the stress levels and while benching you are 100% in control of what you do. No boss or anyone telling you what to do, plus it's a great way to stay away from weekend party binges where you not only end up broke but feeling like $H!t until Wednesday

    I still wake up broke, but at least I don't have a headache after benching!

  4. Thanks, for some reason it's not listed on the HWBot home page competition drop down list.

    According to Massman it's not finalized, although I suspect it isn't going to drastically change if at all. Would be nice to get some clarification though, specifically what exactly do they mean by 8 different cpu subfamilies for super pi and for gpupi do they need to be different cores are just different card names. But I don't really want to be asking them these questions when they haven't finalized the stages.

  5. I think many of us would like to see XTU wiped off the map as a benchmark, however I think we all know there are many reasons that will never happen. The least of which is hwbot doesn't want to anger intel after all the "support" they get from them. Also XTU directly linking to hwbot is the cause of much of the rookie and novice league, which again hwbot would not like to miss out on even if it doesn't do much to contribute to the number of active users. I say get rid of points for XTU forever, but since we know that won't happen at least get rid of points for all previous versions. There have been many ways to cheat it over the years and hwbot has just brushed it off and pretended like it wasn't the case so that intel can continue posting their ad for their latest cpus. Because XTU is not a benchmark, it's just marketing material. An 1800x gets it's ass kicked by a celeron g470 in xtu, not because of lack of hw power or lack of cpu instructions, but because it doesn't run on cpus that have a chance of making intel look bad.

  6. Tbh, XTU is kinda a silly benchmark. It's just intel marketing, it only runs on intel cpus and it will always score higher on the newest intel cpu by a large margin. I think that maybe we should just get rid of the benchmark. If we just want a benchmark that uses newer instructions then x265 or time spy extreme should be plenty.

  7. I understand this as different architecture, so like kabylake, skylake, haswell, ivy bridge ect ect. We will need clarification on that stage for sure.

    Anyways if USA is gonna compete this year, count me in.

    Tbh, I hope it's that. Would be a lot more fun. Then maybe I could also actually contribute to that stage, unless someone else has an i7 5775c or bw-e on ln2 can be clocked high enough that the lack of l4 doesn't matter.

  8. If we organized that wouldn't be an issue, there's 300 million people in the US I'm sure we have enough benches that if we coordinate our efforts we can do really well. R/overclocking we had really good results by making a spreadsheet of hw needed for team comp and people update it as it changes. And towards the end we did have some people pull out of key stages, but it worked out cause we were organized enough to make it up. Now if you mean organizing sand bags? That's something else, and I don't like to mess with it. The biggest thing for r/overclocking was constant engagement of the serious ocers on the team, we did most of team comp with less than 10 people! We only really had to reach out for a few pieces of hw that we didn't have. I know there's at least 4 people from r/overclocking in US that'd love to go hard so that should help. The hardest stage is gonna be stage 1 since it needs 8 cpus, and all from different sub families which I believe is i9, i7, i5, etc. So first thing is we need to track down an i9 to run superpi 32m.
