  1. if validations mean nothing then hwbot shall pull off all cpuz scores right?

I just said that CPU-z validations can be altered ( faked ).

Everybody knows that, and I know lots of people who can do it ( if they really wanted to ).

I bet I can do it too, but I don't.

Can you guarantee that nobody is doing it though ?

  2. It's not mrlobber's responsibility to prove that he's innocent, so he really shouldn't have to travel around the globe proving stuff. Those who want to see the results should come to his place.

I thought he shared a couple of validations that supported his clocks:confused:

    Validations mean nothing.

It can be "hacked" relatively easy.

Hey George, how much would you pay for a set of DDR3 that does 1040 7-6-6-15 for 32M, and a board that does 650 FSB along with it? Shall we get the bidding started? :D

    1 kidney down :P

    • Haha 1
  3. Is that an educated guess or do you have a word from someone @ FM? :D

Having a chat with somebody @ FM ( not tech support or sales, higher ranked bloke ;) )

this can be take as a monopoly, against antitrust laws as I know

FutureMark is NOT the ONLY company releasing benchmarks, so monopoly will NOT stand in the court of law.

    - why send me to *nix world when you well know there is nothing to do for real benching or gaming

If you were so benchmarking addicted you wouldn't be arguing here with me, you'd be downloading vista trial version already and trying the benchmark yourself.

    - I like some Microsoft's products, so why can't use them further? because of a crappy OS (Vista) and a more crappy bench tool (vantage) which have to be promoted in any possible way?

    1) Vista:

You think it's crappy, other don't.

I'm not a bling guy ( don't care about shiny GUI graphics, effects & shite ), neither a fan of XP or Vista.

I'm a linux & Windows Server user, because I like doing things the way I want. And these two OSs allow me to tune things my way.

I've tried Vista ( not as much as I've used XP/2003/2008/Linux ) and they don't seem that bad.

They have some new features that are there just for the bling factor, but there are other "enhancements" which could lead to "more productivity" for SOHO users through faster access to some stuff ( of course this requires to turn off that annoying User Account Control Shite Silly Invention ).

    2) Crappy bench aka Vantage:

    Once again your opinion.

And actually a opinion based on others words, or partial opinions, but still, you haven't tried it yourself, did you ?

We got it, you don't like it, but don't try to convince everybody that it's crappy as you proudly and repeatedly say.

Perhaps you could tell me if 3D Mark05 or 3D Mark06 is any better than Vantage @ Multi-GPU systems...

  4. Most people will not be able to use it, due to Vista, first of all.

    1) There's a Windows Vista trial available for download.

    2) There's also something called 2nd HDD for temporary installation

    3) For the very poor ppl with 1 HDD, there's also something called Imaging Software or Partitioning software.

In second place - price for complete version.

To participate in every preset category ( assuming that HWbot will support any preset apart from Performance, which is available to everyone ) you need the Advanced version, which is a measly 20$.

And three - honestly, it looks bad, very bad, this first release at least.

3D Mark2001SE with LoD looks terrible, should we NOT bench 3D Mark2001SE as well ?

Oh, 3D Mark03 also looks terrible compared to 3D Mark05, should we NOT bench 3D Mark05 as well ?

Hope you got my point here.

No, nobody forcing me to run Vantage, but I have also the right to run it, or not?

    http://www.microsoft.com -> Download trial version.

Option 2... buy the DSP version which isn't that expensive.

Option 3... beware of the one-eyed man :P

In other words, Futuremark "suggest", directly more or less, to move on Vista in order to run their newest bench crap tool.

    1) Once again, FutureMark didn't FORCED you to run their bench crap tool.

But why do you keep talking about it despite the fact that you say it's crappy.

    2) People were saying "We have DirectX 10 cards, but no DX10 benchmarks".

    Well, here you go.

Now don't tell me that you didn't knew that you need a operating system with the DirectX 10 API to run a DirectX 10 application.

Moving on Vista -> massive Vantage license sales -> this will bring some nice cash in their pockets. And for Microsoft, too.

    1) Moving to Vista doesn't force you or require you to run or buy 3D Mark Vantage. Is it ?

    2) You're losing the water again. Why should we care if Microsoft or FutureMark make money out of this ?

Yeah ... well ... it's easy to speak for one like you who have access at both pieces, hardware and software (don't tell me you had purchased Professional version of Vantage with your personal money for this review, because I don't believe that you spend $500 just for fun). Btw, nice one, you deserve some congratulations.

Well well... no I didn't buy the professional license, it was given to me because of my hobby/job.

But that doesn't play any part at all in what I'm saying.

My opinion would be exactly the same without this license.

  5. Why should HWbot NOT include 3D Mark Vantage ?

Because most people will not use it ?

That's not the way to go, and definitely not logical.

You guys are also complaining about the points, how rich ppl will gain more points than you with Vantage, etc.

First of all, if you're doing it just for the points, then you should take a break, and think why are you doing this, and if there's a point in doing this.

You're looking at the ocean but you can't see the water.

p.s. If that's the case, let's remove PC Mark 05 because only rich people with iRAMs & SSDs can get to the top.

Let's also remove 3D Mark03 as well because it requires 3+ GPUs to get close to the top.

And let us also delete HWbot and kill Fred for his stupid idea :-p

You don't like 3D Mark Vantage ? Fine. Don't run it. Nobody's forcing you to do so.

But don't try to force the rest to follow your way, and don't ask ppl to include 3dmv but not gaining any points.

It's your decision not to run this bench. Others like and want to, and find dedication and excitement into benching this one as well.

Do you have the right to tell them not to, or that their efforts aren't worth any points ?

  6. Add all 3...no reason not to. $20 for the advanced is not a big deal. The presets are there to shift the bottleneck from CPU to GPU which is a nice touch. Different rigs will do better on different presets, so it makes sense to award points to all 3. It is like running 3 different benchmarks.

The "not forcing people to buy" argument makes absolutely no sense, hwbot does nothing but force people to buy hardware as it is. ;) Scores always take money; that's just a part of life.

    100% agreed.

First of all, Quad SLI & Quad CF will "show" their power ( and not go wasted ) on "High".

Triple SLI, CrossFire-X 3GPU also shine on "High" but also share some improvements on "Performance", and single cards like Entry the most, also entry is the most tweakable preset.

Add all 3 ( Entry, Performance, High ) and award points for all 3.

P.S. People complaining about Vista... 1) Quad-SLI, and Quad CF work only in Vista, 2) Quad-SLI/Quad-CF 3D Mark03 runs are done in Vista, 3) wPrime runs faster in Vista/2008, 4) You're not forced to run this benchmark, and you're not forced to run Vista as well.

The "If I can't get it, why let him get it" attitude sucks, grow up and learn better ways.

Some people would rather see others fall, than gain a thing. That's pathetic & really sad.

  7. Add it, and award points.

The preset should be discussed thoroughly though before making a conclusion.

I'm currently finishing the review of Vantage, and I've done & still doing some tests to see what's affecting what in Vantage, which preset is most suitable for what, etc.

I'm testing CPU Cores scalling, RAM Timings & Performance scalling, and more.

Details later on, embargo is still in effect.

-- My vote/s and opinion shall be cast & expressed later on today --

  8. Hello folks,

I'd like to let you know that we've published the review of the eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 512MB graphics card.

    Some quotes from the review:

    A year later...

A year and a month later actually...

11th November 2006: nVIDIA Releases their new flagship card, the GeForce 8800GTX 768MB based on the G80 Core built on TSMC's 90nm Low-K manufacturing process, and amazed the enthusiasts & gamers around the globe with its stunning performance.

6 months later there are rumors about the next high end GPU from nVIDIA... expecting even higher performance, fake or not information, suggested release dates, etc. People expected the classic 11th November 2007 launch date for their next flagship...

It's November 2007 finally... but still nothing from nVIDIA. But hey! There's nothing interesting from ATi in the high end sector as well...

Several reasons and "causes" gave us what we've received a month later, in December 2007: the G92 Core and it's first "variants", the GeForce 8800GT 512MB and the GeForce 8800GTS 512MB.

11th December 2007: nVIDIA releases the GeForce 8800GT 512MB and the GeForce 8800GTS 512MB based on the G92 Core built on TSMC's 65nm Low-K manufacturing process.

Hey! Wait a second... this is not a new high end graphics card, is it ?

No, it's not. It's a new graphics card using the G92 core which is actually a "refined" G80 core and built on TSMC's 65nm Low-K process instead of 90nm Low-K.

Despite the GTS name and the confusion with the previously released GTS cards, the GeForce 8800GTS 320MB & GeForce 8800GTS 640MB, this new 8800GTS 512MB performs better than those, and even better than the 8800GTX 768MB.

The new GeForce 8800GT 512MB is performing better than the 8800GTS 320MB/640MB and a tad worse than the GeForce 8800GTX 768MB.

What's interesting about these cards then ?

Their prices. Even at launch, the cards were priced relatively cheap, and "everyone" could afford a 8800GT 512MB.

    March 2008: Nowadays, you can buy a GeForce 8800GT 512MB with 180$ / 160 euros, and a GeForce 8800GTS 512MB with 260$ / 240 euros.

We're also expecting another G92 based product in April, the GeForce 9800GTX 512MB ( heck, they launch the GeForce "9" Series with a GeForce 8 core ), expected price: 310$ / 290 euros.

We've purchased a eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 512MB and installed it on our test system to check out its performance, overclockability & if it's worth the 260$ price tag.

We also have a Radeon HD3870 512MB GDDR4 graphics card to compare our GeForce 8800GTS 512MB with in various benchmarks and games, so... go ahead, and let's start by checking out the eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 512MB graphics card!

It's curtains down time at the BenchZone HQ, the security guards are currently securing the very last windows & locking the doors, and I have about half a minute to end this review and get out of the building before they lock me in for the night!

Ok Bill, think, think fast! Do it! Do it now!

Right, and the Golden Globe award goes to the... eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 512MB!

Ok, it's 'bout time I get my serious look again.

I've been using the eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 512MB graphics card for the past 3 weeks, I've tortured it with demanding games, overclocked the hell out of it, benchmarked it at very high frequencies and high voltages...still with the stock cooler, and granted some decent scores.

Overally, the GeForce 8800GTS 512MB is a powerful graphics card, with relatively good power consumption, runs any game that you throw at it smoothly at resolutions under 1920x1440, and also operates very quietly.

And not to forget, comes at a great price ( and grants a very good performance/price ratio ).

I have no hesitations at all, and I can surely tell you that if you're gaming at 1280x1024/1680x1050/1600x1200 you'll be more than satisfied with the performance of this card in every game.

  9. Hello fellas,

I'd like to inform you that I've just published the review of the Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 motherboard.

Some quotes from & about the review:

With the launch date of the Intel X48 Express Chipset approaching, BenchZone took the latest X48 Express Chipset equipped offering from Gigabyte for a spin on our prestigious test Bench.

Equipped with Intel's forthcoming high end ( enthusiast ) chipset, two PCI-Express 2.0 16x Slots, CrossFire & CrossFire-X support, along with DDR3-1800 support, the Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 is looking forward to meet our blazing fast hardware and warrant some decent benchmark scores and face the competition ( a Asus P5K3 Deluxe P35 motherboard ).

Don't get fooled by the light green & girls' pink colored DIMM Slots, the Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 seems to be a powerful motherboard and could rock the "neighborhood" with it's performance and features.

Does it stand up on the hype around it...how does it stack up against the Asus P5K3 Deluxe ?

Read the review now & see for yourself

For a full review you need to have some competition for the item being reviewed, this time we've set up a fight between the Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 and the Asus P5K3 Deluxe ( I have to admit, it's my favorite Core 2 Series motherboard ).

We configured the systems the same way, we matched the FSB & CPU & RAM frequencies, matched the main timings, and then fully tweaked each system.

The best of each board against the other's best.

In the following tables you can see our test systems specifications & configurations.

The timings are shown in the way they're presented in the BIOSes ( in that order, from top to bottom of course ).

The Es and Ds on the P5K3 Deluxe RAM Timings are for "Enabled" and "Disabled", and the number inside the parentheses are the Transaction Booster levels, for example E(0) means [ Transaction Booster = Enabled, Boost Level = 0 ], etc.

Since the Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 sets the FSB at 335MHz in reality while we've selected 333MHz in the BIOS setup, we used that FSB ( 335MHz ) on both boards ( both boards were running at 335MHz FSB & the CPU at 3015MHz ) [ that's in case you're wondering why our stock measurements were taken at 3015MHz ]

I've used & set up some systems based on Gigabyte P965 & P35 motherboards, and overclocked most of them, but they didn't perform as good as the Asus & Abit counterparts...

However...the GA-X48T-DQ6 is here to change that... and it did!

It's a decent piece of hardware, with only a small amount of bugs/issues/flaws..., most of them are BIOS related, and will more than likely be solved before or a little bit after the release date.

Whether you are a gamer or a overclocker ( average, or even extreme ) this board can definitely fill your needs & give you some pretty decent results.

Just like any motherboard, you need to spend some time with it to get a grip and figure how it "works" and "likes things", and then you can make it "fly".

  10. Various PSUs...top dogs being PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 1KW SR, OCZ ProXStream 1000W, Zippy PSL-850.

These are some of my benching setups units, for my gaming rigs I use the Corsair HX620W, a GameXStream 1010W, and some Antec TruePower Trio 650W [ planning to swap some with some nice PC Power & Cooling Silencer's ]

  11. yup.. i know about the chip..it uses D9GMH(B6-3)..but some of my fren bought crucial ballistix 6400 which is supposed to run at 800..but what happened is the ram only run at 667..the person who r selling the ram told us dat its normal for this ram to run at 667..therefore, owner have to tweak it as to make it reach 800.. is it true?

It's not a fault of the memory, nor a problem.

With some motherboards you have to manually set your RAM to run at their rated frequency.
