You don't need to buy the benchmark, you can publish projects with the "evaluation/free" version as well.
There's just a limit on the max simultaneously published projects.

But it can not be used to create a "no LOD" ranking due to human nature;)
Sad, but true
-
then it will come all down to sample selection
Agreed, totally.
LoD is a tweak, that is used to give us better scores by lowering the Image Quality ( in general ), it's a cheat if you think of it like "the developers used a +1 LoD for this test, etc" but competition-wise...oh well...there would be no competition in 3D Mark2001SE if LoD is considered illegal.
It would come down to who has the best 'connections' in various manufacturers to get the very best cherrypicked CPU/RAM/VGAs.
What could be done for the guys not liking LoD would be a filter to provide results and charts with and without LoD ( having a "LoD Used" or "Not" field @ the submit results form )

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
Select nVIDIA Drivers, and click uninstall...
However when changing motherboards its better ( and recommended ) to perform a clean windows installation.

3D Mark2001SE detects the 256MB XTs as 512MB Memory.
And the 512MB XTs as 1024MB.

You should point ( link ) out the in-mind results when reporting such stuff m8.
By the way, it's usually a user error [ unless he does that on purpose to get more points ]

crucial ballistix tracer

It's the same like the "normal" Ballistix, just with some "flashy" LEDs...apart from that they're both the same, and using Micron D9GMH chips [ the best chips for DDR2 ]
They'll do at least what the average D9GMH kit can do...more or less ? depends on your luck.
You can pick a kit which will do DDR2-1150 with 5-5-5-15 timings, you can also pick a kit which will reach DDR2-1250 with 5-5-5-15 timings...it's all about luck as long as you pick up a kit with D9GMH/D9GKX chips
