  1. sounds like you are traveling in some are the very remote places in Africa, shower out a bottle is totally normal :D

Man, I hope my Hotel will have running water next week! LOL :D

Why even shower with water.... Turkish shower with deodorants if perfectly acceptable

Well, not sure Patricia appreciate the smell! :D

EDIT: Sorry for the Ninja edits, I still have personality troubles :D

  2. All is fine; it was a strong typhoon, but not as strong as the previous one.

Not too much debris in the streets, only a couple of areas without power or water. I think @pepinorang had issues with water :D

No water since Monday and it's not back yet... There's no fun to take shower with 1.5L bottles at ambient temperature! :D #Truestory

  3. you can use a heatgun and bend it back no problem if it bends

Also vivi has the right idea but I use scraper razor blades they have a blunt side.

    1365267089_razor-blades-470b-0908.jpg

Seems better if you dont push hard just get the corners loose first then little by little on the sides. :D my 2 cents

I have 25+ under my belt without death.

Thanks for the tip Splave dad! I bent back CPU with heatgun and it's ALIVE again! :D I guess some pins were not touching CPU anymore causing 00 post code :)

  4. In my case I really do think CPU bent a little bit more session after session by heating it up too much. I didn't think 60°C XTU could do any damage since it's below operating temperature I get at 4.8G aircooling for that bench. At least I could finish guide but "thermal shock" was probably too much :( Hopefully I have better air CPUs that "might" scale on cold...

  5. my 4770k lost little bit of mhz every session after i glue it back.

i would stick to fresh paste each session, but be gentle guys!!! cpu's super fragile physically. maybe get your wife to delid and mount

Well, on 23 chips delided there was very little casualties (2 ?), but it was done by professionals aka Leeghoofd, Zzolio, Wizerty and Strat :D

So far I only did two myself but they also survived without bending.

  6. Yesterday evening I wanted to push Cinebench some more to improve my score.

However, CPU refused to take more than 6.1G while it could do 6.3G before...

After unmounting (mounting was good), I noticed my chip was slightly more bent than before I start to bench.

I didn't try it after session and left it like this until now.

    I just did and it's f***ing DEAD! #Bendlake :(

I think it's thermal related, I will probably avoid torching pot on this gen.

EDIT: And maybe try to glue back IHS too, I was just paranoid that paste would be contaminated by moisture over time...

  7. We can definitely say it won't have the same support, at the least. As it stands now, KPE rules the rankings. We'll have to see how it all lands but it has one hell of a hurdle to clear.

Well, agreed on support but I'm not worried for the rankings. Once again, wait and see...

EDIT: Look what you did me do, I'm defending them now :P

  8. Perfect timing! Will bench my first session with this board tomorrow :)

Thank you for the guide. Such guides are invaluable!

I got board quite late so it took me some time to release it and it's not totally finished yet, I will update it as fast as possible.

Basic primary timings for Samsung IC probably tomorrow. :)

  9. I'd send a message to those posting LN2 scores with the 980 TI Lightning and ask who they spoke with to get ABX. All this MSI drama is special and is doing nothing but hurting them. It's bad enough that the 980 TI Lightning doesn't even compete in the same league as the 980 TI Kingpin......

I doubt this is going to happen.

He has no VGA submission at all and I also doubt they are allowed to share their contact.

However, what makes you assume it does not even compete in the same league ? Wait and see man...

EDIT: It's VERY easy to use EVC on any Lightning for anyone smart ;)

  10. The LN2 OC guide links to command center.

FPT link is disabled: "https://goo.gl/GJGlXD – this goo.gl shortlink has been disabled. It was found to be violating our Terms of Service. Do not use goo.gl for URLs that are either executable/package files (like .apk, .dmg, .exe, .zip, etc.) or that contain only IP addresses, or for shortening URL re-directors (either off goo.gl or via other URL shortening services)."

Sorry, I'm tired :( both are fixed now, thanks! ;)

  11. I'd like to introduce to you the MSI Z170A XPOWER GAMING Titanium Edition :

  12. Sure, but normally the IHS will keep it straight and/or the socket frame will fix it. So not really a problem for normal people :D

Oh, yes agreed! Though Haswell CPUs won't bend if you accidentaly drop them from 50-60cm height on the floor while Skylake will bend real bad (which I also agree should not happen in the first place)...
