  1. This was shared quite a while ago on XS so its not the first time its public
  2. Yeah im experiencing the same problem with my scores.... getting double dip global points in alot of places.
  3. Just wait until later this year when SSD's will easily be hitting 500MB/s with just one drive. Total SATAII saturation soon (without MFT etc)!! Which leads me to another point... If MFT actually reflected the performance of the drive accurately how can you possibly get 1000+MB/s transfer rates with current generation SSDs?? ICH10R craps out around 600MB/s so I think that shows it is at least partially unrealistic results. I tried some quick runs on ICH10R and got well above 600mb/s with MFT and an Iram. Im not "for" or "against" this MFT "tweak," just trying to be devils advocate. I will abide by whatever the community and hwbot staff decide is the way to go forward...
  4. Well since we have no input in crew section, please dont take points away because of MFT. If MFT is such a problem, please just ban MFT. Thanks
  5. Chispy I think you are missing the point of what he is saying. Massman is not saying SSD's are not allowed. He is just questioning the MFT application's use. I read through the above mentioned links and saw the same things massman did. MFT caches data in your ram to speed up the SSD/alleviate the stuttering issues. This sounds similar to ramdisk although different in its application. An Iram/ramdrive shouldnt be disallowed since you can (as previously stated) install OS to it, it doesnt need outside software to work (detectable right from bios as a harddisk), its actual physical hardware, etc. I could use MFT on an Iram to get ridiculous results also since it is just a program that affects the way data is cached to harddrisk/ssd/ramdrive/etc. I think the issue here is not whether to allow SSD's or not, but whether to allow MFT software tweaks.
  6. I second the notion that if 05 is removed I think vantage should get points. I really enjoy the pcmark benching. Its not as popular, but there is alot of tweaking involved. Vantage has an advantage also being that the drive you install the OS to is heavily weighted in the score (even if you set a different target drive). So that rules out software based ram drives altogether. I think now that 3dmark vantage has been approved for points there should be no arguing about pcmark vantage. I.E. the Vista only argument, having to purchase it, etc. The argument that it takes too long to complete is also moot, since people didn't complain when 32M was taking 10+ minutes.
  7. Yes I agree with what dinos is saying. When AMD was on top and beating Intel bloody, many AMD users were very smug and quite happy with how things were. Now the tables are turned, so why should AMD get special treatment? They shouldnt. They should just design a more efficient processor...
  8. Yeah I also agree that the rankings not be split up. If amd makes a cpu that can compete and get global points fine. No reason to complicate things much more by adding in additional rankings. A search function to only return amd cpus results should be enough.
  9. I assume they want to keep the protection against software ramdisks in place though. Removing the cap altogether would allow them again
  10. I myself emailed them after I got a few irams and ran into te problem myself. Never got an answer
  11. Thank you for clarifying that! Its a rule they will have to look at and reconsider. It was put in place to prevent software ramdisks from owning the orb. But now with SSD arrays and the like, its going to be invalidating alot of valid scores... Someone email FM!
  12. Awesome score eva... its def that XP startup throwing the orb off. iirc they put an auto rejection at 225 mb/s (or there abouts). I have a valid at 217 mb/s. I would certainly hope they approve your score, or just modify the rules altogether. Especially with the newer SSD's that should be coming out this year (500mb/s+). Very impressive whether they approve or not though
  13. *gives cookie to K404* ...cant be cruel, so some milk to dip it in also included
  14. Read your own post again No thanks too many xmas cookies already Then why even post?
  15. People like Kinpin are sponsored and get alot of hardware for free... so yes they submit with all their own hardware. If you cant believe that then... too bad for you? For instance I own a pc parts business and so can bench a great number of gear for free. Some people are hardware reviewers. Some people build gaming/crunching/encoding pcs for others and can bench those. So before you start to say everyone on the top is hardware sharing, do some math... Hardware sharing rules are fair and in place for a reason. Sponsored overclockers obviously have an edge over the rest of us, but hey thats life. Since they are the best, companies give them free hardware to show off its potential... Just like any professional sport or league...
  16. I would love to attend, too bad there's a big pond separating me
  17. I can understand people questioning a score, since there has been cheating by people in the past (not refering to anyone in this thread at all, just in general). Many of the above post are valid and thought provoking.... but many are also childish and pointless. I think most people here are adults, and should try to act like one. When it devolves into name calling, nothing will be resolved. Even if you do not think the other person deserves your respect, restraint, or courtesy, you should give it to them. Cheaters, liars, thiefs, criminals, etc... all eventually get caught. And to my knowledge, no cheating has been PROVED. It is only speculation... Although there are many things that may separate us (countries, hardware budgets, sponsorships, cherry picked hw, etc, etc), should we not concentrate on the thing that brings us together? Our love of hardware, overclocking, and pushing things past all previously believable limits? As a personal rule I try to stay out of things like this, and so I will not be posting my personal opinion. BUT, I think it would do a service to all involved if we just take a step back. If people want to bench publicly or fly to someones house to validate, fine. But really I think every record broken is a great thing! Someone has pushed it harder than anyone else has... this is a cause to celebrate! Competition can get the best of many of us, but an ego is a nasty thing to let rule you. Just my 2 cents. edit: Mr.Lobber I sincerely hope you do not quit OC, especially over things such as this.
  18. you people are taking this too literally. Gomeler stated in the thread over @ XS it was a joke. its just language barrier making it seem like an insult. Better to maybe ask the person first before making threads?
  19. Not quite as easy... pcm05 you just have OS on 7200rpm drive and separate raid0 partition > goto advanced options and select that iram partition as test drive. With vantage it stresses the OS drive much more, so you have to install vista on iram. And their are a few necessary tricks to getting OS to install on IRAM. Not to mention you can beat iram scores with SSD, or even a large hdd array in vantage.
  20. I used to have a DX4... played many a game of Wing Commander 2 on that one... AD&D Gold Box series too... ahh the good ol' days
