elmor Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Found a way to upgrade the current firmware over USB by an end-user (http://elmorlabs.com/index.php/2014-05-15/all-devices-now-ship-with-upgradable-firmware/). There's no need for hardware changes but the devices already shipped out would need to be upgraded with an Atmel AVR compatible programmer. This will be useful for bug fixing and eventual feature additions. For example I've been contemplating adding an I2C sniffer function in order to help reverse engineering software behavior and increase voltage limits. If you're coming to Computex and want your device upgraded just let me know! Edited May 15, 2014 by Massman Quote
Guest barbonenet Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 can upgrade firmware with connecting a evc to another evc??? there is any chance? Quote
elmor Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 Unfortunately not, needs AVR compatible programmer. They're actually not very expensive though: http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-1PCS-USBasp-USBISP-3-3V-5V-AVR-Programmer-USB-ATMEGA8-New-LW-/221401386529?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item338c8d0e21 Quote
zeropluszero Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 If I purchase one of those AVR programmers, could you detail how I would use it to update? (I'm pretty new to this) Quote
elmor Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 Sure, it's a simple process. I just send you the firmware a long with an update script. Quote
