sumonpathak Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Well...its that time of there when my mind is full of crazy idea's. So on the list today is run 2400MHZ+ ram in a 2500K(yeah ). So.....is it possible? coz i couldn't.. Board:P8Z68 Deluxe(can take some insane punishment) Rams Hyper X Predator KHX24C11T2K2/8X Adata XPG 2400 C10 so...help? Quote
TaPaKaH Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 DDR3-2400 memory multiplier does not work on retail Sandy Bridge CPUs, only on some early ES chips. Quote
Crew Don_Dan Posted March 13, 2013 Crew Posted March 13, 2013 The 1:9 divider doesn't work on retail SB chips, if that's what you're planning to do. Edit: ^ What he said. Quote
S_A_V Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Use Ivy for RAM OC. SB CPU IMC does not support RAM dividers higher than 1:8. For 2400 MHz RAM clock on SB you need at least 112.5 BCLK. Quote
sumonpathak Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 so basically no chance..even if i get a 2600K? damn you Intel...what about on the AMD side? got an 8350 lying in my table. Quote
TaPaKaH Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 using an AM3+ or an Ivy chip, the 1200MHz mem is possible, unless you get a CPU with a really bad IMC Quote
reggiesanchez Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Before this was a known fact to me I tried with ss on south bridge and ln2 on CPU ,and still couldn't hit 2400mhz. Not saying it can't be done but. I will say its a waist of time. Also unlike ivy Sandy dies pretty quickly with too much vtt. Quote
