Kirche,
The price is great from both of those places but how can I order to USA address? I tried to use Google Translate to navigate the website but it completely blew up on me when I did that - and none of the links worked.
I'm guessing I'd have to know someone in Japan/Asia and order to their address and then have them send it to me, correct?

Where the heck can you get an MOCF for $127? Also used m9a boards are cheap on eBay
Newegg. Of course, I didn't know there was an "M" version and that was what this thread was all about. Apparently, it's still a good deal but definitely isn't going to perform like I had anticipated. No "12-12-12-28 @ 4000" so ya....

Thank you, sir! Will make sure I isolate them ?

Ok, I've done everything except isolate the last two jumpers on the left side (from the picture a few posts up) - but I'm not wanting to try until someone can confirm for me that I need to do that or if it was for a specific motherboard? Sorry, I've read the thread three times now but not sure how that issue even came up.

As for dewars typically buying used is best, but it has it's downsides. I found a decent deal at $280 shipped for a 35l dewar on ebay for example, what I didn't expect was that it'd smell like rotting bull semen and be full of old test tubes. So if you ever decide to get a second dewar used, do be wary of cattle farmers ?
35L = $280 for you, 10L = $700 for me
For $420 savings I'll fry bull ball sacks and eat them with my spaghetti. Thanks for the tip, gonna go on E-Bay right now and see if I can find one at that price even if it means grabbing it from Doctor DoLittle's Pet Cemetery and Animal Hospice.

Although you are correct remember the reason I purchased the Asrock board was because it was $127 vs $240 for the Apex Z270. That's a pretty big difference. Besides, after $700 for a 10L Dewar I was checking the furniture in my house for loose change. ?

Found this on amazon
https://www.amazon.co.jp/ASRock-SDRAM-naマザーボードz170-m-OC-Formula/dp/B01ER49T4W
but it's about 2-3x normal price
Ya, but you'd need someone in Japan to order it for you and then ship it. I can't go to another countries Amazon and sign up with an American address unless someone knows something I don't.
RE: BIOS for the OC Formula Non-M version - I went through the entire thread and found every link to every BIOS that had been posted:

The one you want if you are full retard like me is this:

Yay! Thanks, Nick!

PS:
Ok, just to be really clear burning this BIOS:

and shorting the top 2 and blocking the left 2 pins like this:
is what I want, right? Sorry, just want to make sure I'm not missing something since it is pretty obvious that happens quite a bit in my life.

Bless you Noxinite for saving me from having to restore BIOS A from BIOS B.
Bless you George for gently saying in a real nice way that I'm an idiot for a) buying the wrong but not completely useless board and b) being the only retard who bought his dewar new. I appreciate your tactfulness in this matter. ?
marco
PS: So... how does one know if a used dewar isn't slowly leaking? (beyond the fact that they are designed to breath I mean) Any stories of people overclocking at night and dead in the morning?
-
And just to be clear, can I even use the BIOS linked on the original post of this thread or does it require the M version of the board? I can just see myself not only buying the wrong board but then flashing it with the wrong BIOS because it is very important that if you are going to really frack yourself you need to do it all the way... not too much mind you - just enough to make yourself angry.
-
So I got the wrong board is that what I'm hearing? The link above that everyone is saying was a good deal - that linked to the non-M version, too but in reality it also means no one would actually buy that board?
This non-micro formfactor board that I now have out on my table - it's not the Asrock board that everyone was doing 12-12-12-28 back when it wasn't so fashionable?
Jesus Christ. The marketing departments of these mobo companies need to help us poor customers out a little - I'm getting tired of figuring out if I need the new Asus Maximus Rampage Roadrage Formula One Nascar Super Fly Jimmy Snuka Off the Top Rope Camel Clutch Extreme XXXV.I with RGB+ lighting - or - wait - is it the same board but the Gaming line? Or wait a sec... I need the ROG version which is the same name but instead of the Extreme it is the Macho Man Randy Savage OC variant but only the one which is ATX and not the E-ATX version - unless it is v1.1 of the board then it is ok to get the E-ATX version - just make sure it's the one manufactured in Mongolia because the others don't have the solid gold mosfet with diamond dandruff sprinkled on them.
Just did a quick search of Newegg, Amazon and Ebay. Don't even see a Z170M version of this board. I did find it on ASRock's website with this lovely caption: "This model may not be sold worldwide. Please contact your local dealer for the availability of this model in your region."
Gonna assume this translates into "if you don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese or live at least close to Taiwan, China or Korea you'll need to go with Asus and get the Mini-Macho Man Romulus Formula XXX Strip Poker Maximus Humpback Edition v1.1"
Frack me in the goat bum.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll feel better when I realize that 10 liters of LN2 equals 5 minutes of benching and will have to shell out $2,800 to get the 50L dewar versions. You know what? Frack it. I'm going to cash in my 401k and build an LN2 Silo. Frack the little kid dewars - I'm going full grain alcohol silo complete with tracks so the train can stop in front of my house and refuel me. You gotta start thinking big people...
Anyways, I'm gonna go have a drink.

Actually, George - if we had both been paying attention we might have noticed a few posts back this:
So looks like I get a good deal ? Still don't know what a "non M version" is so please enlighten me.

You mean a dewar for 700usd?
Also guessing you found the non M version for 120usd? As otherwise that was a ridiculous steal!
Yes, the dewar was 700 USD. Made by International Cryogenics, INC. That got me 10L - which is small. Mind you, I went on Amazon and it looks like this particular vendor is really expensive. I have no idea why - but I'm also probably derailing this thread but please feel free to send me a private message guiding me out of stupidity. I saw on another thread somewhere that Splave has a 50L and 35L dewar and that got him something like 6 hours of benching. Did he really drop $3,000 on just the containers? Seems like the major costs for LN2 are all upfront because the LN2 is cheap where I'm at - $3.00/liter - at least I think that is cheap.
In regard to the non-M version - I have no idea what that means. Here is what arrived the other day - tell me if I got a good deal?
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157649
$127.00

So, I recently purchased everything I need to try LN2 for the first time (including a storage container that cost $700 - WTF?) and for the first time in a long time I found myself with no motherboard to plug some CPUs into (either given away to family members, used in my own work/play system or had been fried in some other endeavor) and went to Newegg and started perusing and remembered this thread and sure though I found a new one for $120 which seems like a steal and a lot cheaper than even an open box Z270, so ya - thanks for this thread! I purchased a high quality conductive pen for the 8700K, too.

Hi Marco,
I will get back to you when i have moved my gear and checked up what the AC can do in the small room and the outcome of the dehumidifier. i will get it but will take some time ? i intend to study the topic also to see the right balance between AC and humidifier.
Look forward to your findings - thank you for taking the time to respond! ?

I have the same chiller (both make and model) as you and read your blog post. Very informative and appreciate you taking the time to share your findings! Was wondering if you were still contemplating getting a de-humidifier and how would one calculate what size or capacity?

Retarded but pretty good beat.

A small question from a small team. We have a small team and active 4-5 overclokers. But for all stages it is necessary to submit 3 results, which can not be done by the existing situation. This rule - the submission of several (three) results is suitable for the COUNTRY CUP competitions, but for TEAM CUP such restrictions do not allow us to participate.
I do not even want to know if there is any way out of this situation :0, and I want to ask whether in 2019 there is a plan to revise these restrictions for Team CUP?P.S. I was already somehow answered here, "if you can not - do not participate", but I do not think that this is a way out of the situation.
Me and H20vsLN2 are in the same boat... Currently our team is only 2 of us. If you are looking for a team feel free to join us. Wish there was like a revolving comp like they had with the Rookie Rumble, etc. but one for each league. Actually, just checked and it looks like that isn't even being run anymore. Or the Novice Nimble. Those two events are what got me hooked.
Anyways, good luck to all the teams who can compete in this... Killing myself for not keeping all my hardware over the years.
Just to ensure I'm not mistaken - the idea that we could somehow get all the equipment for every stage we would be restricted to one submission each across every stage and all events within those stages, correct? That would mean two maximum per every stage and the events that make up those stages? Or am I getting mixed up and it's one submission per stage and must choose one event within that stage?

ya, well, that was smart because I just saw people using them and just assumed it was all good... Didn't notice your post until there was like 10 hours left. lol...

sorry, should say 3 days ago and you post this and hours before end I just read it. In my case it's monkey see monkey do. Frack.

3 days to go and I just read this. Fuck me.

I reflashed as you suggested and now it works. Thanks!

Once I get into XP I can set things up with TurboV so that solves my problem but I'm curious if I'm the only one who experienced this?

Just purchased one of these a few minutes ago - I'm hoping that the two dimm and smaller PCB design will work out the way it has for other boards from competing vendors. $129 brand new from EVGA's site made the gamble worth it.
