  1. 4100 and 6100 CPUs are generally weaker cores dunno bout IMC.

Dunno about Hynix either but also some slots are worse than others and some IMCs worse than others.

I had one IMC that ran Hypers at DDR 2180 8-8-8 P95 stable and two others here that only do DDR 2120...32M stable.

I think 1500+ IMCs are release chips same with 8 GHz+

  2. Easier said than done! If we all benched to the limit every time, each CPU/GPU would effectively become single use disposable... The only way to be sure you've pushed it to its limit is to kill it pushing it harder.

I push harder than I would otherwise when there are a couple people close to but ahead of me. If I'm in the lead, I try to ensure the hardware lives to run another day so maybe I don't increase that extra few decimal places on voltage... Few of us have endless buckets of hardware/money.

Sofos just beat one of my gold cups by 23 points. I would guess he's sandbagging a backup. But I hadn't pushed that hard to take that gold cup, now that I see there's some competition, I'll push it a bit harder to try to hang onto it... And hopefully the GPU still lives to run another day.

At the top of the rankings, half the battle is putting up the best score, and the other half is an endurance race to see who burns up their cherry gear first.

Sandbagging is a good strategy to get others like me aiming lower than they need to, and maybe the next time they try to comeback on your score the gear will have degraded. I've always put up my best results though, and just waited for others to come after it, then rerun if needed. That said, I have more than a few GPUs that would score great on my current IBs, but have degraded after running them on SB.

I dunno, a lot of CPUs only scale so far with voltage, way before you get close to killing them...dunno about GPUs though but I assume its the same way, like when scaling goes backwards on air because of too much voltage or high temps, I think its the same on LN2

  3. Wrong thread for this. Im pretty sure what you're looking for is a warehouse job rather than a sposorhip.

    /insert usian joke/

    "k"

So is HKEPC at fault here or not?

As far as I understand it, they benched multiple days, John Lams was done the first day, and Mad222's the second, not sure if same CPU or not.

  4. Why not give the (manufacturer) sponsorships to the guys with smaller pockets...

Really, the difference in skill is little IMO.

How guys become the "best overclockers" is a lot of binning, through time and money, or...connections. While I realize that sitting and binning a bunch of chips is "hard work" and by hard, I mean "boring and time consuming", those at the top either have lots of $$,$$$ or lots of people around them.

I'm sure a bunch of Romanians on Lab501 will swoop down on me for my comment now, for having insulted their ability as overclockers and 'cuz I haz no skillz...

  5. Looks like same hardware but one is a shakedown run with no waza or maxmem, and the other is tuned for efficiency. Only a few screenshots taken between runs, same OS, everyone knows swapping CPUs in a timely fashion without condensation problems to boot is hard as ****.

I love these guys (Mad222 is my idol!) but exact same vcore, exact same CPU clock, same mem model and same mem clocks kinda look funny.

All that needs to be different is CPU right?

They probably have just run the OS/SSD on two different setups, I've done that before.

  6. I don't think you're going to like C4F, I'd rather go with 790FX stuff like M4A79T or C3F for Phenom II. (lower clocks but better efficiency)

While I appreciate the suggestions, I need a board that doesn't have a DRAM hardwall like most 790FX boards as well as something that works well with Phenom II X6. I know that C3F is super efficient, but also a PITA.

    Need easy 1800 CL6 Hypers/2100 CL7+ BBSE/PSC ram board in 32M.

  7. Hai dere!

I'm looking for an 890FX motherboard:

    Either UD5 Rev 2.1, UD7 Rev 2.1, or Crosshair IV Formula/Extreme

No M4A89TDs, they sux on LN2.

I'm willing to pay up to $100 for UD5 or $110 CIVF, $110 UD7 or CIVE. (Shipped price, USA)

Need this quick for a 24/7 rig and Phenom II LN2 board, killed my M4A89TD.

    Thanks,

    Sam

  8. No no..... other people are meant to post their stories of fail to make me feel better!!

Apparently I killed a possible 7 GHz Phenom II CPU by mounting the pot too tight...

  9. Can someone explain to me why [XS]Solid Snake was banned?

Not here to defend him, saw team lost 750 points and subsequently found his account banned.

Just curious, there was no thread posted here about him cheating and he doesn't post much on XS.
