I'll keep this list updated with the new chips I find.

So, I was trying to figure out which of my DDR3 kits performed best (lowest latency, highest frequency) and I noticed that pretty much nothing I did improved my scores. I used my FX-6200 for this, mainly because it was what was sitting next to me. I overclocked the CPU tot 4,4Ghz, nothing fancy but I needed something stable enough so that crashes could be nothing but RAM. I tested 7-zip, SuperPi 1M and WPrime32 since those benefit more from faster RAM compared to e.g. Cinebench (and they are rather quick to finish). Running DDR3-1833 CL8-8-8, DDR3-1833 CL10-10-10 and DDR3-2133 CL10-11-11 all yielded pretty much the same results, with less than 1% differen…

Hey guys, recently I discovered this forum and since then I've become obsessed about OC. So, after weeks reading about it I finally decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the results were not as good as expected. First of all, my specs: Asus M5A78L-M LX/BR FX 6300 8GB HyperX HX318C10FB/8 Gigabyte GTX 950 OC Edition (single 90mm fan) Corsair CX600 I have a Cooler Master Seidon 120V with the original cooler and a second 120mm Cooler Master Sickle Flow X (this cooler is awesome btw, it lowered a lot the temps after I installed it), both pulling air out from the computer case. Also I have the same Sickle Flow X in front of the case pushing air and a 14…

Hey guys, I was hoping that a few of you may be able to help out with this really bizarre issue I have with my CHVF. This issue started as soon as I began to cool down an FX-9370. The board worked flawlessly with my FX-8350 but this one seemed to have kicked off everything. First issue: What is happening is that the Core Unlocker feature is constantly trying to unlock whatever CPU I put into the socket. It's disabled - as you'd expect, but it is apparently enabled and it won't go away. Second issue: I cannot save anything to the BIOS chip. I've re-flashed it countless times and it always remembers the previous settings, although the BIOS number does change…

Good morning guys, today I got my new AMD platform: Gigabyte 990FXA UD5 + AMD FX 4100. After assembling It I've tried to overclock memories (Patriot Viper Xtreme 2133 C11).... without results ! The motherboard fails overclocking even at 2133 Mhz -.- (10.66x multiplier). Instead If I Increase memory frequency by fsb (1866 @ 2133) there are no problem. I've flashed the latest BIOS F9 and F10beta... it's the samething. I've also tried Christian Ney's subtimings (trrd 7), nothing to do. In your opinion what could be the problem ?

So, anyone have any tips about max DRAM freq on BD CPUs? I've gotten 1374 on air cooling in the past but can't surpass it on LN2. I also have a hard time running above CL9 with both my sets of PSC.

Bored at work, so I'm entertaining myself with this. Been looking as this for some time now, and with the two new results coming in today I thought I'd bring this up and see if a discussion is worthwhile. Maybe I'm looking for something that isn't there, but there seems to be a connection to ram freq with max freq on these chips. All the really high chips have 900mhz+ while the lower ones have ~700mhz (save for a few outliers). Granted this analysis doesn't take into OC methods (did they use PScheck, just boot with high multi and up HTT, ect). Considering I saw 1000mhz difference in some of my cores, this might be a mute point if everyone didn't test each core individ…

Hey all, Short post because the CPU was not good. As we all know, in between now and April 29th, there's pretty much nothing to do for the extreme overclocker since Ivy Bridge will kick ass. So instead, I wanted to see how good a full AMD setup really performed in 3DMark11. Before, I already tested Bulldozer with 4x GTX580, but that ended up in one big LOL/LMAO/ROFL-fest since it could hardly compete with any other similar setup. So, hopes were not that high to begin with. In any case, I started with a simple run on air cooling to check initial performance. I pushed the CPU to 4GHz (small OC) on simple air cooling. The result was mindblowing: (no tessela…

Nothing special here, but I finally picked up some Ln2 last week. I didn't know what to do with it, so I decided to test my Bulldozer chips which have been laying in the closet months now. My BD CPU's are crap, so I quickly discovered, that it was time for scatter benching. I did small article about Ripjaws-Z memory on my website few days a go. OC results were not that good, cause SB-E is limiting overclockability a lot. Then I got idea to test AMD BD + Ripjaws-Z combination. http://www.sf3d.fi/artikkelit/GSkill-Ripjaws-Z-16GB-2133MHz-CL9-11-9-muistien-esittely Well, just super loose timings from bios and that's it. I will start to get back in…

I'm running on the same OS I use for thuban and deneb, however on Bulldozer if I match frequencies that others are running, my wprime scores suck. For example, wp32m would be .3s behind someone who is running the exact same settings. This happens on both my fx-6100 and fx-8120. I have 1st in most categories on both chips, but to do so I'm running much higher frequencies. I have to run about 300mhz faster than anyone else to match their scores. Any tips on what I might be missing? You can review my submissions at the following url's: http://hwbot.org/search/submissions/permalink?username=I.M.O.G.&cpuId=2398 http://hwbot.org/search/submissions/permalink?us…

Found this post over at Overclock.net. Although JF-AMD is working for the server division, the post applies to more than just the server segment. In my opinion, it gives a pretty nice insight on future release strategies. The IPC question/answers are quite relevant for the overclocking community. In general, I'd say overclockers are interested in CPC performance (clock-per-clock), but in the end they'll take whatever hardware will give them the highest score. For instance, Sandy Bridge is much faster clock-per-clock in 3DMark05, but with Gulftown reaching 500-700MHz higher clocks we choose the 990X to set our records.
