  1. Does this mean all hardware will be the same for the competitions across all events for the year? Or does it mean you will be posting the hardware used ahead of each event?

Personally I think it would be great if able to keep it same throughout the entire season and announce at the beginning of the season so most can prepare as much as possible. Of course with that there is the thought that attendees at the end of the season events have a slight advantage but that's just the nature of the beast IMO.

  2. Looking for 2x8GB set of DDR3 1333mhz sticks

OC, brand, timings, voltage doesn't matter. Will just be used for young kids school work. All sets I can find new are almost $100 which seems absurd.

PM me with what you got :)

  3. Not sure there are really much more options currently then Praxis and Open Benchtable with Dimastech gone. Both look cool but serve different purposes in my eyes.

Praxis- more permanent, not for travel, almost a case replacement

Open Benchtable- focus on necessities, good for travel, cheaper, smaller footprint

  4. 2 leagues.

Sponsored and everybody else. Run what ya brung and hope you brung enough. You want more points? Bench more stuff or spend on the high end stuff. Your choice.

    Pretty simple eh?

As someone who has been around long enough (not benched long enough) to watch the community and this site grow, I appreciate this viewpoint more than others. The elaborate plans to even the competition out is nonsense to me as if you don't have the money or backing to be at the top, you're doing it for nothing but yourself. And if that's the true point, who really cares about your standing in one league or another. You don't need league rankings to understand how stack up against others, you have a database of results to compare to.

If you find enough to be at the top of top, grind your way up. Being ranked first in a hardware league that is a sub-league of another league really isn't that rewarding.

    Not everyone needs trophies.

    :end nonsensical rant:

  5. I'd say if you treat hardware correctly, killing it is quite difficult even under extreme conditions. The only times I've killed CPUs was when either a) I was too aggressive increasing the voltages or b) I continued benching even though I knew there were condensation issues.

In both scenarios it would have been smarter to warm up, leave the setup to rest and get back to it the next day.

Hopefully this is why I've never killed a CPU or at least a good excuse for not pushing enough :P

Why the hell did I ever post anything, just killed a damn CPU on phase.....

    Sods law..

    Forgot to knock on wood!

  6. 28 here, got into hardware/OC back in my sophmore year of high school. Been into computers since I was really little. First home PC was IBM Aptiva followed by a Gateway. First hardware I built on was socket 478 (P4P800 SE and 2.4C Northwood). High school was the only time I really benched. After then, had time but no money. Now I have money but no time.

Throughout always hoarded and tested hardware but never really XOC. Currently consider myself more of a fan than a particpant.

Like the old guy who always tries to hop into the pickup basketball game but it just never really works out :D

  7. Never got into it specifically for the reason of the amount of work, knowledge and money needed and then to be able to be cheated after doing all that, no thanks. And it never helped that it seemed ever year or so, there was another discussion about it in one form or another, just never seemed worth it.

Send it down, keep the current rules so whoever wants to still bench it can at least "compare" it to past results.

OT- Maybe we should also clean up this thread :P

  8. I am trying to go as well and been looking for someone to go with to split costs. I would be willing to drive to you and carpool rest of the way. I'm in Milwaukee but you are around half way point. If there's no extra room for me no worries, but my schedule can be wide open (thur-mon etc) but just can't afford paying for room 3 nights solo on top of gas and missed work

I'm all for carpooling and shouldn't be a room issue as I'm going by myself. I have a new wedding that literally popped up last night so I'm double checking my PTO at work now considering that.

I'll post back up later today to confirm my departure.

    EDIT:

Looks like I will be able to take a day off, so just depends on if it will be Friday or Monday. I'll move this to PM for you and I to talk Jason but would like to hear from others if they are coming in early or staying an extra day.

  9. I'll be there but probably won't bring as cool of hardware as the rest of you due to I don't think I'll be able to get a decent LN2 pot in time. We'll see how that goes.

    Hardware:

    DFI 939

    Asus 478/478

    Asus AM3/FM2

    Asus & GB 1150 (possibly)

    Asus 2011 (possibly)

    Single stage

    Watercooling

Old dewar that's never been used (if needed)

As many monitors, keyboards, mice I can get ahold of

Probably will be bringing a non-OC friend that is interested but will double donate for the both of us

  10. I'm ever so sorry guys, I got caught up in speaking with my daughter before I could add a pending column to what might have been sold in all of the threads that I have put up.

The Voodoo cards I can sell for £5 each plus then post Mr Horse :) I will find out the price as requested as soon as I can :)

Filmbot, are you removing your interest regarding the DFI board?

For the board itself, let's go ahead and yes. Depending on how the rest of your sale(s) go still interested in CPUs and possibly OCZ Plat.
