  1. Maybe hwbot could use their influence to get the sponsors/vendors to better spend the money to actually bring something to the community as well as PR. Now they just take the records away from the community and OCers get nothing.

We had a community event during the weekend, but some OCers went to vendors to take records for the PR. Including you! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black :).

//edit: just to clarify, I don't see anything wrong with going to vendor events for PR benching. However, don't be a hypocrite about it //

Our honest feedback to partners is always that pushing the envelope with overclocking achievements is certainly important, but it's equally important to support the eco-system of overclockers around it. That is why we also spend money on organizing an open gathering with free-flow nitrogen, breakfast, lunch and drinks. And why we also spend money on organizing an open dinner for the overclockers at night with free beer and food. And why we also spend an entire week with media educating on extreme overclocking. You can check the artwork to find out which companies backed our agenda this Computex.

Speaking of companies supporting the community: did GSKILL not host its fourth edition of the OC world cup with open qualification? Did GIGABYTE not host a series of online competitions for overclockers the past months? Was ROG not hosting an online team based contest during Computex?

    :celebration:

  2. I understand the frustrations with "paper launch", the "pre-QS" and liquid helium. It's definitely a talk worth having, but all I can say is that we're doing our best to influence the minds at (any) company in the direction of community support in addition to the industry support. As you can see from lost partnerships, we don't always succeed in that with everyone. But we're trying. :)

I know it's hard to see since most of this happens out of sight of the public eye. But I rather do this, and build stronger relationships from successful overclocking activities, than to rage in public and burn bridges. :)

    Where is the community spirit?

Saturday Night, May 27th from 7 till 11pm. Guess who picked up that bill

  3. Alright, so who's in for Saturday dinner/drinks ?

I'm in for the dinner Saturday as well :)

I'll keep following to see how the final plans will be.

I am out of hardware to take a benching spot at the gathering this year, but I'm still thinking about some possibilities. Anyway I'll be around, so let's have some fun there :D

AWESOME that you'll be there Iuri!!

Let me know if you need some gear. We have X99 motherboards and CPUs for you to play with :)

  4. Saturday 27th we can do some dinner and those who want to party can head into town. Sunday evening there's not much going on.

I would need to start looking for a place as soon as possible though, haha

  5. Heads up for the gathering on May 26-27-28. We are almost able to confirm:

    • PSU
    • Peripherals
    • Monitor

We're also looking to provide some catering so you guys don't have to go out and look for food during the day :)

So... Any registration needed or something similar like hwbot wt? Since I'm qualified for the final, I'd like to save the time

The registration is only for the gathering on May 26-28. Of course you don't have to pay for entering the Gskill contest you already qualified for :)

Any hwbot gathering like last year at Brass Monkey PJ?

We're trying to figure out how we can get everyone together. This year is a bit different from last year because there is no hardware (product) launch this year, but still some things overclocking related.

  6. I got it, try another browser, if it doesn't pop up straight with Scotties link, your browser is blocking it somehow... hance why it will not show as the pop up is hidden

    Ah, yes

    Voted!

  7. In the opening post I expanded a bit with information from the x86-secret.com database. In the end there were only a couple of extra entries in the table.

Most remarkably is the record streak of JtChen2002. When the DDR3 ICs hit the market, he captured the record on September 28, 2007, with a frequency of 1178.9 MHz. It's only until more than a year later, on October 5, 2008, that his final backup of 1304.1 MHz is overtaken by Hungarian Over@locker886 with 1341.2 MHz.

That's pretty insane. Apparently he's also still in the industry!
