  1. What is this mod for? I think its a volt mod but Ihave no idea, just picked up 2 480s that have the same mod done to them.
  2. The latest points update seems a bit skewed for Maxxmem... idk tho lol. Getting #465 score globally and getting nearly 72 points for it seems like a lot... Then again, maybe not. I was just a bit surprised to see 760 points on uat when I have 140 on the live server attached is my global points as of this post also, seems really cool with the updates you are working on for points. Hopefully you can end up on one that is fair and also not skewed to certain benches like xtu or others.
  3. I have a combo of hardware here, so I'll start with the CPU. i7 3970x, can hit 5 Ghz on an AIO (haven't tried extreme cooling or anything like that.) submission proof: http://hwbot.org/submission/2940438_cavemanthe0ne_cpu_frequency_core_i7_3970x_4998.83_mhz Motherboard: MSI X79A-GD45 Plus Great board, decent clocker (the board gets a little unstable at high volts, but just needs more cooling on the VRMS and what not to get high volts stable). Used it for almost a year, my 24/7 clock is 4.5 Ghz on the 3970x @ 1.375 volts on the core. 8x 2gb sticks of OCZ PLatinum DDR3 (the 1600 Mhz, CL8 ones) for a total of 16 gb ram. two sets are triple channel, one set is dual channel, works well together. Thoughts on prices? Individually or as combo. I know the 3970x typically goes for like $300-$400, not sure on the rest. Thanks!
  4. I have an MSI X79A-GD45 Plus, with an i7 3970x has hit 5 ghz semi stable (on an AIO) also have 3970x available
  5. Can I use my P4 rig that is based on the 850e chipset (still Socket 478, but uses RDRAM not DDR?) Not sure if its technically the same socket, although the CPUs are the same so? (I cant seem to remember what chip its running but i think its a 2.8 ghz Prescott.)
  6. I have no idea if this is the right place to ask, but I know a lot of people here at the bot are PC junkies so I think i might find out more information at the least about the PC I have. I digress though so here's my situation: I have a working Wyse 386/25 multi-user PC(or is it a mainframe? not sure, can run a metric butt-tonne of terminals off of the thing- max supported is i think 60 or so- i could be wrong though), 4 terminals to go with it, an IBM model F for the main PC, and 4 Wyse WY60 Terminal keyboards to go with it too. Example of a terminal: https://www.pcliquidations.com/p16352-wyse-executone-crt-40017 Example of a terminal keyboard: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=52597.0 Example of the PC: What would the price of this whole setup be? (Note: I do not have all the cords for the assorted components, have tested function on all though.) I have no idea, as there's nothing like it for sale anywhere- although IBM PS/2's (which are from a similar time frame) go for between $150-600 in good condition. And that is just one PC, without extra terminals and keyboards. Thanks for any input! I mean seriously, any input and knowledge is useful as this stuff was made before the internet was a thing
  7. As per the title, two sticks of Corsair Platinum DDR1. $12 shipped for the both of them. Used. Just tested, and they are the 512 MB ones that have CL2 timings (PC3200). (not 256 mb like i had originally thought). Paypal is preferred. Below is photo of them: *edit: photo had wrong date so i fixed it Thanks!
  8. Cool, thanks. Now to venture through the internets to find the 9-pin VGA to 15-pin VGA adapter lol- Then I might actually be able to use the thing...
  9. Well, now I have a Wyse 386/25 PC that is running Dos-Under-Unix. (I think? It uses an obscure VGA connector, one with 9 pins, not 15, so I don't really know... but that is what a lot of the other Wyse multi-user PC's ran on so...) Would it be that hard to run benchmarks on a 25 Mhz CPU? I'm not even sure if the super-stripped-down version of Win XP works on the old thing .
  10. Check out l0ud_sil3nc3's For Sale thread here: http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=144123 , you'll find what you are looking for!
  11. I have an old Pentium MMX CPU (specifically, the SY060 version that runs at 200 Mhz on Socket 7) was wondering what its worth? I know its old and probably only like $5 but thought I'd ask. (link to CPU world info on the CPU here: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium/Intel-Pentium%20MMX%20200%20-%20FV80503200.html ) Thanks!
  12. MSI X79A-GD45 Plus Latest bios is 17.9 (linked here: http://us.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/X79A-GD45-Plus.html#down-bios ) (was having issues adding the zip file through hwbot upload tool so I just linked to the support page with the bios downloads)
  13. How about a dead GTX 465? Or is that too old? (I'm in the u.s. so shipping cost would be only cost)
  14. As per the title, I have a 10k BTU AC unit, which needs a minor repair & then it will be set to go for extreme cooling. (Someone decided it would be a great idea to drill a hole in the bottom and punctured one of the copper tubes on the side of one of the rads, so will be a minor fix). Since I'll have to refill & fix the thing anyway I figured that a Phase Change cooler was in order... What do I need, and where to start? (Heres a pic of the unit with the cover off: )
  15. Meme! ( I have no clue how to link it into post so its attached)
  16. I could help too! Been doing some stuff already on AMD's forum lately and I like this type of thing. I had an idea just now for for an epic competition, actually- but I digress. Definitely interested in becoming more of a part Hwbot's community! (also, this is a cool way to bring people in on moderating, thanks for it!)
  17. OK, thanks! I'll likely run at stock for the most part, but will include Syscheck or an appropriate CPUz tab or three when submitting. This is still a decent amount of time away, but again thanks for the info, and links to old Java versions! Heck, i can probably mention you if the research I have in mind goes well enough. (In other words, if I find enough hardware to make a good comparison & then write up an article or paper).
  18. Thanks for the links! Certainly helps. And I'll be running a couple of 386 and 486 systems (Maybe more than a couple, time will tell on how many I can find), so it might take a while on those rigs to finish the benches. Ok, will take that into account when running benches(About the CPUz & wprime). Also, on older Windows versions could I use syscheck for validation? I browsed around a bit and some other people with really old hardware used that for submitting to Hwbot.
  19. Ok, that is helpful. Most of the hardware I'll be testing *could* run W2k, even if slowly. Thanks for the info! Now to see where the legacy builds are for Java. YAY for testing old hardware, the stuff will probably take months to run Pifast and/or Wprime lol . In the name of research! Other thing- Will I be able to validate the hardware with CPUz or will I have to run an outdated version to get it to work? I see some people are having issues with old hardware (like socket A rigs) ...
  20. I am very interested to find out how far back in versions of Windows benchmarks and CPUz will work on. I am doing a test of some ancient hardware come this spring, and it would be nice to be able to know if CPUz (and anything else, like Hwbot Prime, or GPUPI, etc...) would even work on some of the hardware. And when I say ancient, I mean systems from 1990 and up... So, from running Windows 3.x, to Win 95, and onwards. If you were wondering, I am going to be testing if Moore's Law has also had an effect an CPU performance over the years, and not just transistor count. Thanks!
  21. Nokia Lumia 1020, with winows phone 10 TP.
  22. Found more things to sell, that I can't use for much. Athlon 3000+ New, opened box to see if all stuff was there once, have since put it back. Asking $15 plus shipping. Socket 939 CPU Sempron 2800+'s - Asking $10 plus shipping. I have opened them a few times, but never had need for them, now just collecting dust. All have original accessories in box. Socket 754 CPUs. Duron 1600 CPU's - asking $10 plus shipping. They were extra at the time, I put em away and they weren't used again. Tray and CPU only.
