Guest TheMadDutchDude Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Hey guys, I was wondering if you could give me a hand here. I'm trying to figure out what sort of DDR4 would be good to go for in an X99 system. Of course it's for benching, before you ask. I instantly went to these modules as they are highly clocked and have a low starting voltage. http://www.memoryc.com/computer-memory/ddr4/16gb-gskill-ripjaws-4-ddr4-2800mhz-pc4-22400-cl16-quad-channel-kit-4x4gb-black-heatsinks.html I'm guessing that they would do better than an equivalent kit at C15 with 1.35 volts but I could be entirely wrong here. Where would your money go? Looking to keep it below £250 ($375). Thanks in advanced. Quote
marmott Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I would buy this one for £188 but maybe I'm biased http://www.alternate.co.uk/Kingston-HyperX/DIMM-16GB-DDR4-2666-Quad-Kit/html/product/1156882?campaign=DDR4/Kingston+HyperX/1156882 Quote
Guest TheMadDutchDude Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Oh, that is very interesting. Thanks for the suggestion! That's also the place I got all of my computer gear from when I lived in Holland. Keep 'em coming, guys. Quote
nickolp1974 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 i used these http://www.memoryc.com/computer-memory/ddr4/16gb-gskill-ripjaws4-ddr4-2666mhz-pc4-21300-cl15-quad-kit.html and they managed 3200 C14 and 2666+C11 with ease and 2666 with tight timings always gave the better results for me with my limited ram tuning knowledge. Guest TheMadDutchDude Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Awesome. Thanks Nick. Still leaning towards the black ones though. It's not an easy choice with it being so new! Quote
TaPaKaH Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 All Hynix kits with specs of 2800C14, 3000C15, 3200C16 or lower are pretty similar in terms of average quality. If you want to go above this level, you'd have to go for 2666C13 Kingstons (as suggested) or expensive 3200C15/3200+C16 kits. Quote

Guest Bullant Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 (edited) Nice memory^ I haven't had a chance to test the new platform myself but wouldn't say 3600mhz with tighter trcd be faster? Or does this new platform like benefit from MHz over timings? Edited August 11, 2015 by Bullant Quote
Guest TheMadDutchDude Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Very nice memory indeed!! Is that still a Kingston HyperX kit or is it another one? I'm going to get a Skylake system as soon as I have gotten rid of most of my old gear. I'm meant to be saving for a wedding, but benching bugs bite. Quote
