Guest george.kokovinis Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I could really use a hand of help here folks. Asus RVE, bios 1401, 5960X, G.Skill - 3200. After a 3D benchmark and a reboot, I got code 79 - CSM Initialization error - on the board. Usual reaction, reset, hard reset, battery cmos clear, different ram modules, bios flash back to 1302, remove and reseat cpu, you name it. Nope, boot process stuck at error 79. Any ideas ? Any help will be greatly appreciated. George Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted May 15, 2015 Crew Posted May 15, 2015 I had similar post codes when I had a loads of power related issues during benching Quote
Demac Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Oh boy i had a gigabyte z77 that could not post past code 79 (internal device initialization) and it never booted again. Bios flashing or hard flashing did not do absolutely nothing. Out of nowhere without too much oc or something just doing some low clock runs. I hope that is not your issue man. Quote
Guest TheMadDutchDude Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I had a CSM issue with my Z77 Sabertooth. The board never booted again. Quote
Guest george.kokovinis Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Things seem to get even more peculiar now. I installed a 5930K and system boots fine. Removed 5930K and re-installed 5960X and I still get -79. 79 is not related to cpu. OR IS IT ??? Quote
Guest TheMadDutchDude Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 It's not related to the CPU, George. It's related to the PCH as far as I know. Try removing all SATA devices and see if it goes into the BIOS at least. Quote

Guest george.kokovinis Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Well...NO. Removed all Sata devices. Before installing 5960X again ( with the 5930K ), I even disabled CSM initialization in bios. All the rest default. Nope. Reinstall 5930K - all ok. Time to RMA the cpu. Shame !!! Great clocker. 4.8 core with 1.42V and 4.6 uncore with 1.4V I will miss it. George Quote
