OBR Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) Three motherboars in test: Asus Crosshair V Formula, MSI 990FXA-GD80, Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7. My third ES Sample. I am 99.7% sure this new-one is based on complete final silicon. First sample i had was crap, like many others on taobao/eBay/chinese forums. That chips has serious problem with L3 cache with drastical impact to performance. They are good clockers, but its wasting of time because performance. Part 1 Motherboard support: Asus Crosshair V Formula: Tested BIOS 0009/0027/0028. Absolutely great FX support, in first BIOS fully works Turbo, CoolnQuiet, Changing CPU multi, Overclocking. OC Button is working too. Everything works fine with no problem. TurboEVO is fully functional too. You can change everything, voltage, multis (for each Core separately). Really fast a stable utility. Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7: Tested BIOS F3/F4b/C6. First BIOS is really bad with FX. Turbo is not working, CnQ too. Its impossible to change multis, absolutely unusable. Next one (F4b) is better, CnQ is working + changing multis working. Turbo is still unsupported (because C6 state missing). Today ive received new (alpha) version C6, results later here ... we are working together with Giga-lab on solution. UPDATE - BIOS C6 solved all problems. Turbo + CnQ + multis are working now. With this is UD7 ready for FX. Software will test in few days. Easy Tune 6 is unusbale. Its not supporting new CPUs, you cannot to do anything there. Will test today new version too ... MSI 990FXA-GD80: Tested BIOS B10/B11/B21. Its working NOW! But all BIOSes has problem with 1866 mem/divider. Wait for fix till monday. OverClockin Center software is not working, will wait till monday for newest version. Overclocking on AIR: (Asus board) @default voltage - rock stable 4400 MHz @1.53 voltage - rock stable 4850 MHz @1.59 voltage - superpi stable 5150 MHz BCLK OverCloking Memories OverCloking 2470 MHz on AIR fully benchable, 2510 MHz max AIDA64 benchmark stable freq. Update soon ... Edited July 8, 2011 by OBR Quote
Christian Ney Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 For those who have the first post bug: My AMD FX (Bulldozer) Adventure ... Normaly working with Phenom, but with AMD FX freeze at C19 code on display. I am working on solution with Holland team, but they are on vacation now. rebelion Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Nice chip! 8 cores @ 5Ghz will be nice for the f*cking Vantage. So, looking the screens with this chips it´s possible to play with the bus again. Good job OBR Quote
BenchZowner Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I have a 12c24t SB-E... it clocks up to 5GHz on air. AES-NI works, SSE3 works fine, Turbo works fine on the eVGA 666 FTW, but not on the Asus Roflage IV Extreme White Edition. Here's a pi 32M screenshot, there's the CPU-z CPU tab window, the CPU-z memory tab window, and the CPU-z mobo window. Wait, what ? What about the superpi window ? You don't need it, I told you it did 32M at those clocks. Who cares about the score. Feel free to flame me for the ironic post, but these kind of "posts" are nearly as valuable as the infamous "unboxing videos" are. Soooooooooo much win! Quote

Skier Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 hope the mass produced samples clock as well or better! (if the screens here are real) Quote
OBR Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 UPDATED - on Asus + Gigabyte everything work perfectly now. MSI has new BIOS, Turbo is working now, but overclocking is impossible and software does not work too, still. Why they released that CRAP? - Like allways they did ... tragic company. Quote
Morphling Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Nice sreenshots there I'm putting much trust on these chips... I hope finaly AMD give us something to compare to intel. I was so Athlon64 adict Does anybody knows what kind of numbers do these chips have on memory performance? Read\Write\Copy\latency? I realy expect not to have anymore read values like 9800mb/s It's time to see something similar to SB Quote
