PSC/BBSE faster than Hypers, pi32m?

Recommended Posts

I've finally managed to get one of my hyper kits to work in 32m with SB. Problem is, 1066MHz 7-7-6-20 2T (cas write 7) is waaay slower than 1110 8-9-6-20 1T (cas write 6), bbse. Second loop at 5GHz is around 18.5xx compared to 18.2xx with bbse. With hypers I need to use 2T, but otherwise tight subtimings just like bbse.

Is the difference really this big with 2T vs 1T? Something feels wrong, I was so happy to run hypers again only to see a disappointing result :(

I'm able to run 1080+ 7-7-6-20 1T with 1.7125V on the GTX2's, but took me quite a while to figure out what was the problem before.

I could use it for everything, but 32M, it was freezing either on the initial or the first loop.

What helped me was changing tWWDD to 4. Put all subtiming one or two notches up from their auto values, then started to tighten them one at a time.

Oh, lowered CHA and CHB Data ref voltages to 0.495.

1100 7-7-7-21 1T might be possible too.

Board is M4G-Z with 0603 bios and 2500K on water.

I wanted to make a comparioson of GTX2's at 1081 7-7-6-20 1T and BBSE at 1120 7-9-6-20 1T/1140 7-9-7-21 1T, but have no time for tweaking correct subtimings.

I see some guys are running hypers at 2T with 3D, but not sure how big is the impact in 32M. Maybe I can try same settings with the only difference being CR 1T/2T.

Can confirm this - my Hypers are running very well on P67-UD7-B3 (1100-7-7-7-20 1T are no problem) but i also had to set the subtimings manually. Weired thing: on M4G-Z with Bios 0208 i just had to plug in the sticks, set up voltage and everything ran (runs) fine (e.g. 1120-8-8-7-21 1T - 1100-7-7-7-20 1T).

RAM's are SST Chrome 2000 C8, tested with 2600K and Celeron G530 on M4G-Z and UD7-B3.

It also depends on the RAM itself i experienced. Before i had the Chrome Kit, i had a tripple-Channel SST Speed Kit. Didn't managed to get them work on SB. :(

Some board/ chip/ BIOS combos are better than others for Hypers. Some guys can't even get them to boot, let alone run 32M.

I got 1T running fine, but could only run 933-950MHz at any timings.

Yes I think the problem with hyper and SB is only present at 2133 divider, or rather close to 1000MHz.

tWWDD wasn't the key for me, just 2T and lots of volt :D Best stick can do 1066 cl7 @ 1.78 worst @ 1.81. As of now I'm running pretty much all timings manually so that shouldn't be the problem.

I know I should just give up on my hypers, but it's such an ill-deserved fate for once upon a time nice memory
