  1. I too like having to bin boards for working status, not binning for mhz
  2. Imho cheapaz should only require buying a single piece of hw, that's why it's always been pcie dgpu. Although if we're doing an igp comp at the same time for cheapaz too then throwing in a s478 agp comp could be viable I suspose. So do it like Season 4 Div 1, 2, 3 similar to challengers. I mean in that sense we would cover the 3 main sockets for gpu. Makes me wonder if we could do a div 4 and 5 for mobo igp and pci gou
  3. I think an agp comp of any sort would be fun, but not a cheapaz
  4. How many non asrock even have agp on s775? I'd think it would only encourage going for rare other agp boards.
  5. I think we can do an AGP only comp outside of cheapaz lol, hard to call rare, obscure, and probably expensive hw cheap as chips
  6. Mem matters a little in my testing, but basically to the extent that if your mem doesn't suck you're good. No need to crank timings or whatever like in superpi, much better to go for max possible core speed.
  7. Looks like we know what not to pick lol
  8. This link should still work, it easiest to get to it from google than through their site https://www.geekbench.com/geekbench3/
  9. bump
  10. Lol couldn't be making g470 relevant again
  11. What version downloads from geekbench site for you?
  12. Other stages that could be interesting I think: ddr3 - x265 1080p single core per socket (might not have enough sockets viable on ddr3, but off the top of my head I can think of 1155, am3, 771, 775, socket p, bga 956) ddr2 - 3dmark03 motherboard igp ddr1 - agp stage Someone mentioned a laptop stage during CC and was told wait for TC so if people aren't opposed then laptop stage? ddr2 - superpi 32m amd phenom and athlon x2 cpus (No Phenom II, no Athlon II) ddr2 - am2 gpupi 100m
  13. Should give everyone an extra free day off with their weekend, so assuming people don't have plans with family it may be good.
  14. Would there be interest in lining it up with memorial day weekend or would people prefer a different weekend?
  15. What 3dmarks does the current comp engine allow to be configured for just graphics score? I know anything pre 3dm06 does but what about newer 3dmarks where cpu score is counted, any where we can specify just graphics score?
  16. My mistake for not being clear, what I meant is we either say fuck anything outside of US, EU, AU and do GTX 950 or we pick not GTX 950 and make sure that whatever the gpu is it's widely available in all regions. Personally I don't think anything outside of US, EU, AU really matters as those are the only countries to participate in previoius Cheapaz with the exception of Brazil and Israel in S1, and tbh probably 98% of participation in all comps falls in those three regions so I would be fine with choosing cards based exclusively on those three markets. Either way a poll should solve things.
  17. In all regions? What about asian, south american, south african regions? If we're gonna do a card that is only for sure available in US, EU, AU regions then GTX 950 availability and price is fine. If we're gonna do a card other than GTX 950 then we should consider regions other than the big three.
  18. Seems very specific, I feel like if we're gonna do fermi then doing GF108 core would give a few more options to hopefully get around any possible issues of finding a specific model in a region. GF108 would give us GT 420, 430, some 440, gt 530, some gt 630 would be similar to how we did cedar core last year and had lots of options for models that performed essentally the same.
  19. He seems to be targeting a $10 gpu when everyone else is targeting $30-50. No need to get into a flame war over this, you guys have differing opinions but both opinions hinge on different criteria. Personally I think either GTX 950 or GTX 660 would be good as they're within the affordable range in the two of the three markets that actually matter for this comp, US and EU. And in AU they're $70-100 which is about the same as $50 USD but I don't know if that's expensive for them or not. My personal opinion is the used markets outside of those three markets is so fucked that no matter what gpu you pick you'll pick "the wrong one" but mick doesn't seem to agree and I'll allow him that. I have seen much more support for GTX 950 than a single person who want caicos/g 210 so personally I'd push for GTX 950. The real question is why are we arguing the merits of one gpu or another in what's essentially a shouting match. I think it's time for a poll and we'll find just like basically every other year that one option will have overwhelming popularity.
  20. 210 was in the og cheapaz apparently but it is long enough ago I think we can revisit the arch. Tbh they're all cheap enough we could do something like gtx 280 or 285 so there's at least a few frames in the benches? For the other arches that I mentioned I think gtx 660 (kepler), 750ti (maxwell), Cape Verde + Oland (gcn1), bonair (gcn2) are all viable options if we picked any of those arches. But again I only know prices in the US where those can generally be had under $50. I think tesla is great for modding and honestly would fit the spirit of the comp best but the newer arches that can get a few more frames may not be as painful to bench and can run slightly newer benches without a slideshow.
  21. Caicos is essentially a rehash of last year. It's basically just cedar core 2.0. I think we should do a new arch. If small maxwell is out then we should look at a small gcn or small fermi. We honestly could even do tesla or small kepler but I honestly have no idea of global availability of them.
  22. Bump
  23. I think instead of ddr1-2-3-4 mem freq since people seem to have some issue with repeating this stage (imho it sounds lovely and would love to see it for like a 3rd or 4th time, it's a classic/staple for tc) we could do a stage of sdr-rdr-fbdimm max frequency. Only downside I see is that for some sdr and rdr are too legacy for tc or something like that.
  24. Hi all, after some talk on discord there seems to be some interest in a bench meet in Spring to supplement the one in July/August. If we host it in the midwest it can be done fairly cheaply as we essentially have a free venue in Quad cities area so only expense is for ln2. Just wanting to see if there's enough interest to move forward with planning.
