Just did some ycruncher subs and I noticed that the datafile didn't include a screenshot and actually went as far as to tell me that screenshot is not required when I went to sub. Imho it's February is too close to start a comp. I think stages should be listed a full month before comp start when possible so that people don't bitch about stages not running on cards, etc, after comp starts. I think 3 stages and run through March would be ideal.

Can't speak for others but I know when I said "let's not do something that doesn't require mods" I did give a valid suggest of doing some dx9 benches and specifying only mobo igp. There really aren't any good mobos with igp that I can think of off the top of my head so they all need mods, it's gpu limited, and it would be old benches that are tweak heavy. Also almost all of the relevant mobos are $20-30 and available probably more universally than even new hardware. Now assuming that isn't to people's liking I would recomend RX 550 which is about the closest to a budget gpu you're gonna get new atm. It would be similar to gt 1030 from a few years ago where it's sub $100. Now if we're okay doing another older gpu I would suggest doing GT 430 or even better GF108 core which would be GT430, some GT440, GT 530, some GT 630 and would allow more option so hopefully it'd have about as universal access as the Cedar Core last year.

I find 1 fps unoptimisicallly low tbh, this is at 4.2 and I expect to see 5.5+, probably close to 6 ghz on the right chip, also mem is pretty low and that fsb is relatively low. It's gonna be the equivalent of taking ankle weights off in an anime when he posts his real score.

Well depends on how big a trader they are, more cores means less servers. Bigger the trader with more money they can afford more servers with less cores per box. They'll use cascade lake over Skylake refresh because the hardware mitigations for meltdown are way faster than software They do also use fpgas, just depends on the customer. I saw the trays of cpus at a company that builds oc servers for hft so they had all kinds.

There's stock, they just sell 100% of what they make, I've seen trays of 10980xe's, it's just not profitable to sell cpus to pleb consumers when you can sell to HFT who buy by the tray.

22 core cpu wouldn't pull any cpus from the stock of 18c and below. It uses a different die so it'd pull from dies currently only used on lga 3467 as it would have to come out of the 28 core die. As far as the shortage, the best way to get cpus is inside deals. HFT is buying up all of the lga 2066 cpus they can because the alternative to them is to run a bunch of servers with 9900ks, HFT needs the fastest cores they can get and will pay whatever it takes to get them.

IMHO the spirit of cheapaz is hard mods. AFAIK it started out as a comp centered around encouraging people to take out the iron and IMHO it should stay that way. If we don't want to do a graphics card then I think mobo igp is good cause most mobos with igps suck and require hard mods. Also specific mobo igps may be tough to acquire but in general low end mobos with igp shouldn't be. So perhaps don't say do <this> mobo igp and just say comp is limited to mobo igp?

I think a mobo igp based comp could be interesting wether it be nvidia igp or intel GMA or even integrated ATI. Would be limited to dx9 benches at the max but that still offers some like ice storm, and everything older than vantage.

3rd gen would be good if we're going for less popular. 2nd gen has almost as many stages as 1st gen imho

Indeed that is controversial, I'd take dual core on non asus x48 over non p45 quads and I don't even bench s775 much at all

Would be cool to see a tahiti core or gcn 1 cores only stage. I loved OC on that arch, was more straightforward than it has become.

Maybe bump it down to 1080p? That should take long enough on k8 1c plus it won't need as much ram
