  1. reserve a space in the garden?
  2. The answer to that is releasing the method (again ) on how to do it on Nvidia GPU's. People are always happy to discover a new tweak and gain points, the only downside is everyone who put work into previous results without it. The way I see it though, that is the lesser of two evils. Stopping people from submitting with red cards or removing all previous results would imo be harsher. It's common for old results to slide down the rankings, new drivers and other things happening boost new results, allowing it on Nvidia would be similar and mirror the community stance on LOD.
  3. I thought it was just a rumor I was speaking in broader terms and taking into consideration hwbot's already established approach to these kinds of things, i.e., allowing pretty much anything except the most heinous forms of tweaking. Hwbot's mentality derives from the community because hwbot is made up of benchers, rather than an entity or devoloper who would usually look down on that sort of thing. So we would allow it for any card/benchmark. Hwbot has never followed FM's approved driver policy either, are we going to start now? The only place I can see it being a problem is when (and if) it ever became necessary for the HOF when a valid ORB URL is required...at least for red cards
  4. I don't recall exactly, probably around the same time. Before that, yes it definitely effected the ORB rankings. Often what we do with a benchmark contradicts the basic intent of the software. Tweaking blurs the results and removes uniformity, so you wind up with results that often do not have real and meaningful numbers, which is what the test is designed to provide. With this situation, it would probably be best considering everything to enable it on both platforms. The question is how.
  5. There was a time when LOD was Nvidia only, mainly because there was no common app people could use to tweak it. Then W1zzard came along with it built into ATI Tool. Massman is it also not the same with Nvidia, the ability to disable it? I thought I remember something like that going around.
  6. How someone can argue for LOD yet want to ban this is beyond me. Nvidia benefits far greater than ATI with LOD tuning, even now...yet when ATI could not use LOD everyone running green cards laughed. Now that ATI is benefiting, as some would argue unfairly, it's unacceptable IMO if we sanction this, we also have to ban every D3D Overrider result @ hwbot. Cool!
  7. Is your CPU still alive? If so, you have no room for complaints
  8. There is no difference between LOD and tesselation on a basic level, both effect image quality. Also maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's possible to completely disable Tesselation with the slider, just reduce it.
  9. Interesting that FM decided to care about this when they didn't bother with LOD, seems a little biased to me. Perhaps Oliver Baltuch's history with Nvidia has something to do with it.
  10. Looks like a nice space, we all like upgrades.
  11. That's promising news about the new board/BIOS ME4ME, the original GD80 did kill my best CPU so hopefully that problem is gone. No complaints from me though MSI is doing an amazing job with this event.
  12. Close, last year was Vantage and 32M...but no '03. That's a good point about '01 matose, maybe someone can talk them into doing one for their board.
  13. Creating bots and humans, impressive!
  14. Nice to see a free edition available again Is there a changelog for the system info component?
