  1. Thanks. This is huge cooling. My 1st choice was Kryos as a waterblock - this one has a thermometer. Well, Velocity is better but I can't check temps now. Ambient is 23*C so for this cooling it will be at max 24-25*C .(With i9-7980XE @4.9 and 2x 2080 TI at 29.5 ambient temperature of water was about 34 deg C.)
  2. Ha! So here are ya OCers discussing what the heck went wrong with League participants, aye? Oh well, I tell ya. Three ways there are to start overclokin' mates: 1. Need of computing power 2. Curiosity (what can one achieve with his new build) 3. People want to show off with their new build or want to compare it with others. 99.9% of them will do it on some kind of ambient cooling at the beginning. Well the first one doesn't even need to participate although may want to compare against others. Results: if there was someone with extreme cooling who took his model of CPU to bench it - > "you're a dumbass. He has 100 + points. You have 2.1 or 1 point. Go away silly bastard!" The second one will have the same slap on that happy face. Curiosity fulfilled Third one? Oh. He will add his 3-5 results and... maybe he'll not delete account in shame. Maybe. Why is it like that? Some of You jumped at me when I asked Is there a fun being Enthusiast OCer still. Now think about it. I made on ambient 4.425GHz with 3970x. There are no better scores for this CPU with ambient cooling. And... I got nothing. No points almost at all. Now go for any decent web portal to check this CPU review - 4.15 -4.25 - max for them. 4.3 at one I think there was - booted but unstable. So for destroying almost anything about this CPU on ambient, Enthusiast, Rookie and Novice Overclocker will get zero points almost or as one may say - points of shame. Now. I will try to do best scores with 3950x... What say ya? Will there be a point for me? Or for anyone who will be best in ambient cooling with it? Who will totally overcome portals reviews? No. There will be no points. You were talking about prizes. Nobody cares too much. People want their results to matter. Not being slapped in the face by : you are not a real overcloka! You can shove this build of your in tha ass. At the beginnig of this year I wanted to finish with HWBOT. But I stayed because it is comfortable for me to compare my achievements of regulating hardware with others. | And as this is mostly only one portal like it, I will stay. But you know what? With 3950x I will not sit like 3 days to get the best possible scores. Why? Because now I know - we, Enthusiast will get almost same amount of points for whole set of this CPU benchmarks - 10-15 max. 20 pts for a guy with best binned chip. That's how you're killing passion in people by destroying points for Enthusiasts. Oh. yes! There is this 0.01 % who will start with Extreme OCing and maybe half gets nice results and stays. So there are two guys like this per year. Awesome. Told ya. Verification enhancement. Cooling types divided: EXtreme (LN2, LHe etc), Sub Zero :Dice, SS, Phase , Ambient : Air, LC - or similar. Points from Extreme, especially sponsored subs cant make a gap for Enthusiasts. That's crazy.
  3. Oh. I new you'd be freakin hard in this discussion. 1. Server CPUs can't be bought? Allegro(.)pl , ebay(.)com - no problem 2. I'm a boss. I'm a one man company. I'm making project of workstations. Those are fully mine. (don't have a secretary though ) 3. My friends have easy access to cards, CPUs and other stuff, although they're not competing, while they could. 4. Well, tell me your cooling setup is also a standard enthusiast cooling type 5. For me, here in Poland, it's more likely to have a new hardware, than good old hardware to bench. ex: GTX 570, 580, 690- bought them to overclock, cleaned it, changed pastes, changed BIOS - shitty scores. 6. I have also a lot of hardware to make repairs as people are turning to me because I'm known in arch-viz. 7. Well, my family would not accept -5C in the kitchen, ahahaha. But thank you for you insights and Congrats about 1st place! (You're just pissing me off there really hard ) Cheers.
  4. Dear OCers. Well, people always tend to push things on their side. Please take a look here and read the first post if you missed the point. Damn, North Korea than is a nice place.. @yosarianilives This thread is about GAP, types of cooling and having fun, not frustration over the points. 1. No. Elite vs Everyone Else will do no good - there are Extreme OCers with LN2/LHe abilities - this will just prefer them, despite using same cooling as Elite. 2. I've stated before: In the YT era it might be a good practice to fully enforce video proof. Might be non-public. 3. Using Benchmate? 4. I'm not extreme - is there a difference with -90 deg. C on Dry Ice and -90 deg. C on LN2? I truly don't know. Explain please. @speed.fastest Well exactly. @Mythical tech There are things to bring ambient down. Look who do you have from Greece. It's really hot there most of the time. At summer at my home I have an ambient of 30 deg. C but at winter I can go as low as 17 deg. C. But this is still cooling using ambient. With LN2/LHe/ Dice/ Cascade/ Phase you do not need to think about ambient as long as humidity allows top bench. This: I'm sure was just to piss people off. Ignore. Whoa: 1. No one on HWBOT have main points for challangers, but yes I do value this change in thinking toward competition for wider audiences. 2. frequency limited TC or CC? - Nope, I don't. Never said anything like it. But the points distribution over type of cooling with video proof - yes. 3. No, I'm just suggesting that having already split Ambient and Extreme Cooling with different demands about validation, and seeing that new lithography is all about cooling - it is a logic step to take and divide those types of Overclocking and also competitions. 4. Announcements - Oh... I'm thrilled, las time I dropped a lot of places down Exactly for the gap. @macsbeach98 Don't get so angry, people. Anger marrs beauty
  5. Well, that is a statement made by an overclocker As for me I'm using XS79 Deluxe with i7-4960X @4.7 and 2133MHz @CL10 Memory as my main PC. Not getting BSODs, playing games, using Office, working, making videos. No. If you have an access to a new hardware, it should be fun to overclock this. I've already mentioned scavenger thinking. It's your point of view. Mine is: we challenge ourselves with the new hardware on great cooling and we will see who can OC it best. Not: we have to find an old hardware.... I give a really much less duck about old hardware. I want to compete with new. You like Old Scholl. Great. I want Enthusiast League to be fighting on new hardware. You don't believe in OC on daily basis - you problem. I made 500+ workstations in OC. Working for more than 4 years now. Old School is Old School. Enthusiasts should have a possibility to fight on new hardware.
  6. So @Mr.Scott and @Mythical tech think it's so hard to build cascade phase change or buy a chiller than? That's a bit pathetic. Well my dear OCers it's not. It's just like getting a totally different difficulty level. Enthusiasts are playing on Nightmare. Phase and Chillers are playing on Hurt me Plenty and in fact LN2 or LHe are playing on "Hey, not too rough" and after a year or two it's straight "I'm too young to die" . All I wanted you to see is that core count changes, lithography changes, and Enthusiast will no longer participate in new CPU benches as it will be totally out of fun. I'd just like to have fun playing on a Nightmare again. Not thinking - OK, two guys with LN2 or LHe will kill my efforts totally. That's not fun, that's just nightmare, and it's like playing a game with a cheater with auto aim. Well all you statements completely confirms this - you just want your own points. Well bear in mind. I don't want to be compared with Extreme OCers. I want to fight in my own weight class. You feel good that you have won with Enthusiasts in a competition with Phase or a chiller? Wow, You're a hero than. But only in Your mind.
  7. Yeah, that's why I've wrote enthusiast, not Enthusiast. PC holder. Great.
  8. Oh yes, but it's leading in numbers one. And we could all learn a lot from this one. Fight here is much more competitive and true, but it is burning out.
  9. @Mr.Scott Have you ever heard about sarcasm? Go Google or Wiki. Please.
  10. OMG. Yes - for 120K USD yes and this is neither standard, nor LC no AIR.
  11. No man, you're still out of my thought. Enthusiast League should use cooling (as we do) for 24/7 usage.
  12. Oh no @Mr.Scott I think you misunderstand. The best Enthusiasts here can prove their full clarity by all means. If it will be demanded we'll do it. We don't give a dime about people who cheats. We will eventually find them and bring them to justice. We want our own competition. The security demands might be higher. We want our fun and competitive spirit of overclocking back. I'd love to get few of my colleagues into competition, but seeing the scores... I wouldn't give a duck too. Be the best of Enthusiast with a CPU benchmark! Get those 2 points... Wow. Really? I'm so thrilled. Wohhoooa. 2 points. You're so kind! Oh. Yes, my young padawan, wisely must you choose hardware for benchmarks. As no points you can get if Extreme can OC it. Oh. Come on. Don't bullshit me you don;t know what I'm saying.
  13. Exactly Thank You very much @Mythical tech for this. That's what is going on: we, Enthusiasts are mostly using hardware that is not taken by Extreme. We have to choose carefully - if Extreme can do it, we f*cked. What's a fun in that? It's not normal overclocking - you take a hardware and squeeze most of it. It's "choosing hardware that is not interesting for Elite/Extreme/Apprentice. That's not competition That's not free and delightful overclocking for points and this is not any direct competition. Oh yes. Forgot: "THE ONLY WAY TO OC IS LN2 OR LHe" and everybody else are just scavengers Nice. But i have noted that those LN2 machines can run 30min-1h and they have to taken care of... well mine can run for weeks, months years... 99% of people who want's a nice PC would think like to know the real score. Real achievable score that they can achieve when investing in cooling, not the 30 min short run project score.
  14. How is this exactly fair to other Enthusiast or even Extreme overclockers who buy their hardware on retail prices from the stores? Excuse me if my assumptions is wrong, but everyone visiting your profile can come to the same conclusion. Oh no. I do buy my stuff on retail prices at stores. It's just that I can keep a lot of it. Yes some times after a year or two I'm selling this stuff. No. My clients cant have Sport Overclocking WS - why ? Because it's not always stable. You know what is the difference between Sport OC and 24h/7 OC? 300-400MHz. Usually 150mV and about 30 deg. C. My clients are getting from 15-35% faster machines but they're not getting the same as I've scored on HWBOT - it's even in my offer How is it fair? Well I could get better car... but my passion is OC so I'm investing in hardware. That's what Enthusiast do. Invested in products, made my own cooling, bought a lot of bench tables. Like automobile enthusiasts - they buy cars and stuff. Is your "Enthusiast guy" is a guy with one rig, one CPU at the time, one GPU... than I'm sorry, I don;t know this guy
  15. And as for @Mythical tech . Thank You for you whole say, but mind that 99% on this planet will not use any cascade, not to mention LN2/LHe. I don't really give any care about LN2 scores. Art for Art. Might be useful when AI will overtake and send dies into space. Right now it's just pure fun.
  16. Oh no my friends I do have income from Workstations, and in fact I do own this whole bunch of hardware. From Xeons V1 2690 to 2699 v4 i9-7980XE , i9-9900K, 3800x, over 50 CPU for LGA 775/771 Whole bunch of Gene. OC Formula, APEX and Deluxe and now I bought 3960x and 3970x with MSI Pro 10G and Zenith Extreme II . How the hell did you think I made every Challanger in 3 days? You're jealous? Your problem. Sponsored? Ho ho ho. NO. Sponsored is when someone is coming to ya and says I'll give you this and this for free and just make the score, or someone is coming and saying : I'll pay 5000USD, compensate costs od LN2/LHe just do a nice score for me so the portals could write about.
  17. No. I totally disagree. There is and will be a huge gap between cooling type. And also there is a question of utility of LN2 and LHe and other extreme cooling. This type of OC is an art for art. Nothing else. Enthusiast overclocking is a fun for much wider audience and for much more people. You have 4 000 people in Extreme, Elite and Apprentice. 24 000 in Enthusiast and they're going away due to the fact that fun has been lost. You want more proof than pics and benchmate? Demand short video for even only one of records - that the machine is working on such cooling and that proves that the rest is true. For over 3 years I'm adding pictures, and holding videos for 2 weeks to a month when doing Challenger. Videos can be uploaded on YT. You can demand link to this video for every Enthusiast benchmark score. Dear Mr. Scott, don't let paranoia that everybody wants to cheat kill the fun of overclocking. Because for now I think it does. And remind me: whats the difference between a guy who has it's own garage and OCes with LN2 for years and sponsored guy OCing for few? They're scores might be similar and result never achievable by standard LC / Air cooling. I don't see any point in that only two leagues. Pointless and without any logic purpose. Prove me wrong.
  18. Hi OCers! @Massman @Leeghoofd @_mat_ @der8auer @NATA 58 @avalanche @ksateaaa23 @Mat_Agnesi I'm an overclocker for a few years now. I worked my way up with hard and long work-just like almost anyone here on top positions. But now I'm facing .. we Enthusiasts are facing very depriving situation: GAP. The points are distributed in such a horrible way that Enthusiast overclocking is slowly making no sense at all. Today I've made a lot of scores and submissions with 3970X Threadripper, despite 3 days of testing, regulating and getting such awesome results for a real life usage like rendering, Those are scores at almost highest possible levels for LC cooling, and yed despite getting extreeme results brings dissapointment. I literally will get no point for results here. Two days ago I had beaten almost every score for 3960x - and this points will vanish to almost none right after someone will take LN2 or LH and just try to make some scores. Using the gap between Extreme and Enthusiast scores which are using totally different cooling systems is a bit of stupidity. And now we are facing a total cut of from points - the more cores and lower lithography the bigger gap between Extreme an Enthusiasts. As Roman showed - almost the same voltage and only difference in temperature - totally different silicone die behavior. I have a few friends who thought they will have fun - because they know a lot about OC and they're having fun with it ... they came to HWBOT, got some nice scores... in the meaning of Enthusiast results but not points. And that was the end of them scoring on HWBOT. So, to boost up competition on a realistic level there should be division of scores. Full division so even on a chart of the CPU there would be colums "Benchmark Name" / WR / WR Enthusiast / Country Record / Country Enthusiast / Team Record / Personal Record. Same in Hall of Fame and Rankings. There is a voltage wall and temperature wall for Enthusiasts and no experience can do anything about it. Right now HWBOT is being more and more like a marketing tube which is of course totally misleading for unknowing buyers. The portals are screaming about new records... and many of my clients are asking will I make a 5GHz+ TR3 AMD for them. The smaller lithography the bigger the gap between Extreme and Enthusiast will be. Especially when some scores are sponsored and they are being counted for the gap with Enthusiasts overclocking. I can just hope You will take some actions as this two types of overclocking should be divided. Cheers Peter
  19. @_mat_ Thank you very much for this long and very explaining answer. I have another question though: If I want to switch to BM 0.10.5 can I copy my results from old BM "results" folder to a new one? Will it create some problems or can I do It? Oh. You did a great job here _mat_. Sorry I'm just a guy from voltages, coolings and OSes - I didn't knew as this whole AMD thing is kinda new for me. Cheers ------ Well I just can't delete those pics. I'm trying but they're there forever. I wanted to paste copied text but I had this in the bucket. It had a delay, text didn't show - I pushed 3x CTRL+V - now I cant delete. So sorry for messing this conversation The only way - make em small
  20. @_mat_ Hello, Would you like me to report differences in results made through Benchmate and without it or you do not consider it a bug of any sort? I have replied to your report on my submission. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
  21. Congrats! (What's the name of this case? Is it Rajiintek? What is this waterblock?) Beautiful build!
  22. _mat_ reported :) Such a twist. This score is not validated through Benchmate and this will not be, due to the fact that the Benchmate is delaying the results. There can be three scores for the system : without Benchmate running, with Benchmate only On and through the Benchmate. As a matter of fact : best score through Benchmate: 24.056 https://hwbot.org/submission/4308321_adventurepo_wprime___1024m_with_benchmate_ryzen_threadripper_3960x_24sec_56ms And this is the same OC, same machine turn on. Also _mat_ if you want to report scores, report evenly please, as you haven't report nor comment buldzoid nor dualityy. As this looks as double standards. As a matter of fact I am patreon of your project (adventure.piotrorkisz@gmail.com), I value it and I hope for the best. But for now it has flaws - all the scores are worse with it. We , the Enthusiast, are working on milliseconds in WPrime at the highest places. If Benchmate is delaying 50-200ms it has to be corrected. It's got to go to the background in time of benchmark and can not destroy the result. For me level of accepted delay is not more than 10ms for this benchmark. Cheers _mat_ Keep up the good work :)
  23. List of thoughts: I First run: Ask for HWBOT Login Check machine specs, save them : CPU model / GPU model and Manufacturer / RAM SPD, amount, Give this machine credentials "HWBOT Name_Number" Ask for: CPU Cooling type/ Graphic Card cooling type/ Disk Amount Manufacturer, Capacity: GB, Series:, Configuration: / Power Supply: Manufacturer, Capacity: Watt , Series Save this Information under HWBOT Name_Number and in main startup information file. II First benchmark: Ask if it's for Enthusiast League: If yes -> ask for picture(s) of the system. - save them In database under names: HWBOT Name_Number_PIC# Give those info to HWBOT every-time when a score of this machine is submitted. III Every other run and submission: Check machine specs, save them : CPU model / GPU model and Manufacturer / RAM SPD, amount and if there is one like it in Database choose specs from I.4 - if correct. If system Spec changed show values form I.4 with question of a possible change. Give there an option of changing picture Hope you can find something interesting. Peter
  24. Hi OCers, @_mat_ 2xQ: Do I have to submit score manualy still for like Cinebech R15? Or it will be rewritten from Cinebench R15 with Benchmate Score? Are we able to add manually GB3 and GB4 into Benchmate by add button below or is it totally out? Thank You
