  1. What happened to the frontpage ranking? Everybody is on there twice!

Related to the above post: I was under the impression that only this first round would use old scores. Is that correct, or will it be allowed to use/re-use old scores in future cup rounds as well? I don't have a strong opinion on the matter, I'm just curious.

  2. It might be a Athlon II 915! or Phenom II 915! Or whatever the hell it is we're talking about.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't I just lay my hands on a TWKR, set the multi to 13, and submit it as a 915 and have exactly the same amount of verification that the current 915s have?

Am I missing something, or is it really that easy to "have" a 915?

  3. SCP/OCP/UVP won't care at all unless the elements are sized woefully wrong.

SCP is typically just a function of OCP. If the element has enough resistance that the PSU isn't being asked for more than it can give (look at those wires, it isn't), the PSU won't care at all.

OCP is over-current protection. Again, unless the element asks for more amps than the PSU can manage, it'll be fine. Given the wires, it'll be fine on anything.

UVP is under voltage protection, you don't generally get to that point unless OCP fails or the PSU fails. Sometimes UVP is used for SCP.

In any event, PSUs don't care in the slightest what kind of load is used, only how large the load is. Those heaters are far from a large load.

  4. If I recall correctly it was shown in the demo screenshot on the individual benchmark rules pages as optional, but listed as mandatory for all benchmarks on the main rules page.

    Something like that, anyway.

Not a big deal IMO, I have no problem calling it part of the january first rules update. It was certainly clarified then and made consistent over all the pages.

I was under the impression that it was optional as well, and I have memories of being pointed towards the overall rules page when I mentioned that.

It's also possible that my poor abused brain has its wiring crossed up.

The way I figure it we're all racers, and the rulebook was a rather chaotic set of main rules, benchmark rules that contradicted them, forum rulings and rules, and so on, plus a fairly large team of very very busy moderators. We're bound to run into sometimes trouble with that setup :D

It's much much better now. Obviously things pop up every now and then that I take offense with (pc05's very existence, at this point :P), but it's much much rarer.

Anyway, really not a big deal to me.

  5. Don't forget that you'll need a frequency score, so AMD.

Now that Titans are here you'd need Titan and 7970 and GTX580.

Plus of course a stack of CPUs.

The number of pro league people that seem to believe themselves gods who can order things to happen is amazing. Also depressing.

Past glories do not make a person ruler of the now.

If Jim Clark came back from the grave do you think F1 would do exactly what he says? Hell no.

Really, the people are the top of the standings are the last people who should decide the rules. When that happens the rules almost always end up built specifically to suit those at the top.

What nobody seems to be willing to reply to, from anybody, is that the Pro League was not spreading OCing. It's job is (was) to spread OCing. Hence, it was a failure.

For my part I find the 7970/titan+supersuperbinned3770k scores equally impressive and depressing.
