  1. Thanks for the free game FM
  2. Very nice benching Boris! Congratulations!
  3. Hi! I got these brand new SSD disks from Kingston for performance testing. I have been using old 250GB HDD disks in my bench setup for a long time. Now it is time to replace those ancient things with better solution. The best thing is, that nowadays setting up RAID configurations are as easy as single disks have been. I am using HW raid with the mainboard. SW raid could give a littel bit better results, but I was very happy with performance already. Things what are hard to measure are the ones which seems to benefit most. I am talking about general usability of your daily machine or your bench setup. Everything seems to be smoother and faster with these. Even browsing internet is quicker. Software installation and loading times are so much faster, that you will not get nervous while installing same s**t again and again. Features * Innovative — uses MLC NAND flash memory components. * Silent — runs silent and cool with no moving mechanical parts * Shock-Proof — no moving mechanical parts so the SSD handles rougher conditions * Supports S.M.A.R.T functions * Guaranteed — three-year warranty, live 24/7 tech support Specifications * Form factor — 2.5" * Interface — SATA 1.5Gb/s and 3.0Gb/s * Capacities1 — 64 GB, 96 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB * Dimensions — 69.85 x 100 x 9.5 mm * Weight — 128 - 151 grams * Storage temperatures — -40 ~ 85°C * Operating temperatures — 0 ~ 70°C * Vibration operating — 2.7G * Vibration non-operating — 20G * Sequential Read Throughput 2 — 230 MB/s * Sequential Write Throughput 2 — 180 MB/s * Power specs — Active - 3.4W (TYP) Power specs — Idle - 0.05W * MTBF — 1,000,000 Hrs *Price in Finland: 260€ (520€ both) Setup: *ASUS Rampage III Extreme *Intel Core i7 980X @ 4GHz *Kingston HyperX 12GB 8-8-8-24 1T *ASUS GTX 480 *2 x 1200W PSU *Kingston SSDnow 100 V+ Raid 0 *Western Digital 250GB AAJS Raid 0 *Gigabyte I-ram (2GB DDR) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Test results: Install Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit Installing Windows 7 is quite quick with SSD disks. I-ram is of course left out from this part. Installation is from the "Install Win 7 ..." to first time on desktop with totally ready OS. Win 7 boot time: This is so amazing. The difference is huge and this is average of 3 boot periods. Time is calculated from the beginning of load to desktop. "Game" level loading time I did not have time to install games to these drives, so i simulated the game level load situation with 3DMark Vantage. It is not even close, but it can give some idea about the performance. GT1/GT2: I-ram was strongest in this part. Normall HDD disk already made some difference, so in real games, difference must be a lot larger. Next tests are Futuremarks PCmark 05 and PCmark Vantage. PCmark Vantage is the latest systems performance test and it is clearly the best software for it. Too bad it is very long and very boring test. Futuremark also force you to buy this software to be able to see scores properly. PCmark05 PCMark Vantage PC suite PCMark Vantage HDD suite: In PCmark tests, HDD performance is crucial. You can clearly see, how bad scores the basic hard drives are producing. Next I tested the typical software, which have been used to measure read and write speeds of HDD's. HD Tach 3.0.4.0 Atto disk benchmark (Read/Write) Crystal disk benchmark 3.0 (Read / Write)Testi 10. Crystal disk benchmark 3.0 (Read / Write) These test are showing the difference between the old technology and new very clearly. When you boot up your system, install os and install a lot of software million times in a year, these SSD solutions are the ones, which will save your nerves a lot. Then I decided to give + and - for these SSDnow SSD drives. +Small physical size +cool operating temperature +no noise +low power consumption +fast in single and raid configurations +durability -price in finland and in general -still small size (storage) Now it is very easy decision, when I need to select drives for my daily machine or benching systems.
  4. Well, chipset is watercooled and ambient temp is 22C° in benching room. It is quite good result if we take that in to account. I have NB pot here, so maybe I should give one more try with NB on cold as well
  5. Motherboard + CPU are both alive and in a good shape I just need to let this setup go now.
  6. Super event!!! I wish we could have same size events in here. Thanks for the pictures, but I can not see any inflection point pots in there.. haha!
  7. Pieter- We finnish overclockers have bad habit to take over childrens rooms for overclocking Christian Ney- Last 2 pics are like that for safety reasons der8auer- The real oldie is Junksu! He was already coding when I was still wearing diapers.. well almost
  8. Junksu in XS: "Thanks Guys and special thanks to Petri for being humble LN2 boy this time So this was the second ROC event (ROC = Raahe OC - Raahe is a small town in Finland). I have had a lot of OC activities after the last ROC I (April) which was my first LN2 experiment: April - Gigabyte Intel P55 OC Challenge with SemBer (2nd), June - MSI MOA European Finals with Kite (5th), September - MSI MOA Word finals with SF3D (6th) This time I had just 20kg of LN2 and aim to test my Asus R3E + 480 Lightning with my retail 980X! 2D tests started very nicely and I did some personal records with SP1M + PiFast. Then when it was time to test Lightning with LN2 there were some insulation problems with MB! I managed to make only one decent run with 3DMark03 before ran out of ln2! Hopefully next time better result with 3D too! My Setup: 980X 3003B320 CBB -142, no CB (with 2 mem sticks) Asus Rampage III Extreme Corsair Dominator GT MSI GTX480 Lightning" http://www.hwbot.org/community/submission/1069152_junksu_superpi_core_i7_980x_6sec_500ms
  9. Hi! I am just the messenger here. I was with these overclockers whole weekend, but I did not overclock at all myself. I was just trying to give useless tips and act like a pro :ROTF: This is second overclocking session what we have organized here. The idea was same as in ROC I. Guys who are not so familiar with ln2, will get more expenrience with it. The progress during this year have been awesome. The people who took part were: Asmola, Junksu, SemBer, SF3D 80 liters of ln2. A lot of retail hardware from shops. I will add more pictures + shots as soon as I get back home. The guys should be able to show their screenshots in here at least. Junksu was very lucky with his retail 980X. (Week 3003B472) No cold bug with 2 memory sticks. Scales well with voltage and cold. Junksu is currently the 2nd overclocker here in Finland and he is familiar to some of you guys from the live oc competitions in 2010. This was his pifast result: http://www.hwbot.org/community/submission/1069150_junksu_pifast_core_i7_980x_13.17_sec More to come a bit later from the guys who continued to bench today. Some random pictures: The event place = Raahe (Raahe OC) Junksu's setup and his brand new monitor! SemBer and Asmola: Asmola's fiancee like to help too: Sauna + alcohol This was perfect weekend again. Thanks guys!
  10. This is not extreme oc video, but latest one. This is very cool setup to play games
  11. Great benching! This chip was not a waste of money!
  12. Best OC video ever Pieter-Jan. I may not be able to sleep tonight though.. there was some scary s::t in the screen
  13. I was a bit slow, but I just realized it was Movieman who got this high. You have just entered to the dark side. You are overclocker! May the force be with you!
  14. Wow.. now I know how to use watercooling with computer. I have always wondered how it is possible. If you continue to the other side of paper with copywaza C to D.. D to C you will eventually have Swedish perpetual motion machine. But wow..you guys are so much in your own league.. no way to ever get on your level Massman and Chew*
  15. Yes. 990X might be the end for ES discussion this time If my sources are correct, we all are very happy soon. Thanks for the "leak" Dave!
  16. I have done 5100MHz superpi in normal room temp last spring with super A0. Max clocks were 5200MHz+. It was A0 so it is not counted, I guess. I am trying to find the screenshots...
  17. But have you measured it or checked from bios? If HS is not warm, it can be exactly my issue..heat did not go that far Low fps?.. in general on some part or full test? That lockup can be cause by IOH temp and some performance issues as well.
  18. Yeah, what is IOH temp when using 4-way? Temperature increases quite a lot from the extra load. Maybe you have just bad contact like I had on my R3E. +100c on IOH does not help overclocking
  19. Did I say anything about ASUS hehe The fact is, that RIIIE cost 370€ in here, which is huge amount of money. 4-way setups are mainly for top end benching, so basic players are not the target group. So, adding Xpander type extension board is good idea if we keep money in our minds. The main idea of RIIIE is to keep cost as low as possible and still offer best possible performance. Nf200 chips on board does not fit in to that idea. I am not taking any sides, but about this particular subject, it is my honest opinion that RIIIE + Xpander is better choice. The ones who does not need or want 4 way ability, will get really good board and they don't have to pay extra (Nvidias fault, not GB's in UD9 case)
  20. I would like to know, that have someone really bought UD9? In Finland 0 boards have been sold so far. Price is 517€, so I can see the reason there. If that board is loosing some very valuable performance in 4-way, I can not see any reason to even test it. Buying one would be even more ridiculous.
  21. Good first run... waiting to see LN2 soon with this setup!
  22. Thanks! Just checked FM orb. This run already got second place in GPU score! Something good can be always found if you look hard enough
  23. 6100MHz GT's and 6000MHz CPU test. There is headroom up to 6300/6100 runs, but always some failure prevent it from happening Cool!
  24. I have not seen any of those boards in here
