Really hoping that a meet can be arranged so we can all get together and have some fun, thoroughly enjoyed The last one "The Big Freeze" as i got to meet some new people, always nice to put a face to a name and big respect to Rauf, Luumi, kickapus(soz dave i never remember how its spelt!) and Kenny for making the long journey to be with us all, cheers fella's.

when did overclockers become such cheapasses?
Since Nvidia started charging the earth for there VGA's!
In all seriousness, i don't have a problem with a fee for any contest, it wont be cheap for tickets, hotel etc unless its Dan then a €5 bus ticket will do!!
But maybe to make it more appealing in future, say for instance intel are providing the 6950X, you could of asked for 3 prizes of a 7700k(or whatever the name) and then the other ones, basically lower in value stuff but more of it.
Also i cant off the top of my head remeber all the rules so this comment maybe totally irrelevent, if pepole are having to pay then so should there hardware be, in otherwords no vendor cherry picked hardware should be allowed.

man cant believe I killed my golden 6500mhz 6100 right before this came around. I am so upset with myself, that chip still looks like one of the fastest around, goodbye, what a horrible feeling that is.
Is anyone going to try a power board mod. If nobody else does I wouldnt but if some people do then I would want to try. But might not even help with this gpu.
Man that sucks, fantastic CPU

Thanks for the clarification.

October 10, noon GMT+8. At that point we announce the contestants and there's a week to submit. The competition page will be available by the end of the day (so everyone can prepare their scores to submit between October 10 and October 17.
So to clarify, is the wallpaper made available before October the 10th so benching can be done and then submitted in the final week?? If its not made available till the 10th then thats gonna make it hard for some.
Nice comp.

My 2c!
I'd imagine a good number of the older generation Overclockers started there passionate hobby to indeed get more FPS because hardware was lacking and most probably behind the software/games so OC was born to get those numbers up and it snowballs on from there. People are less interested because now it is the other way round, the hardware exceeds what is being played so no need to overclock or very little. Even cheap vga's are capable of playing the latest games, yeah you may have to turn some settings down but they play good. The folk with the lower end kit are more likely to OC but there hardly ever going to get into more exotic cooling as it costs too much and if they could afford they would just buy better components.
I believe once the current breed of overclockers finish there term there will not be much left of the scene, simply because there is no demand due to what i have said above. You will always have a handful of people doing it, it gets in your blood and theres no turning back! The heady days of OC are coming to an end, not extinct but close and i for one wish it wasn't

Very tempted, just looking into dewars as it won't be much good without one!
You can hire one from mansfield cryo (ask for Pete), about £40 for a 50L and a £1per litre (cash) for the Ln2, just mention me, lewis(obscure paradox) or Brendan (maddutch)
Can also vouch for Harry, great lad and i beliive he has dewar for sale too.

I feel it would be good to see AMD and NVIDIA seperated, and i know globals are awarded generally to the latest and greatest but in this instance could they be awarded to both sides?? Or give half to both. Wouldn't it be a pita to categorise with a class idea, "low" too "ultra"?? An Amd card may start in mid end and after a year of driver optimisations could be classed as a high end card.
Splitting and awarding globals to both sides would also enable a cheaper alternative to getting said globals instead of the points always going to the lucky few who can afford the top Nvidia cards.

Not seen much info apart from the odd FB post and of course the subs here, so it would be nice to see others findings and not just the end result.
