Suggestion for Rev 4/5/6/99
Massman replied to K404's topic in HWBOT Development: bugs, features and suggestions
I think you're greatly overestimating the effect of having someone that is willing to send you one piece of hardware -
-
No. There is no rounding up or down: 1,027 = 1,02 1,025 = 1,02 1,021 = 1,02
-
We implented rounding as MSI asked: "el % de CPU debe ser contado hasta 2 decimales y no se permite el redondeo. Por ejemplo si el resultado es 35,376% entonces debe figurarse 35,37%, en caso de 35,372% debe figurar 35,37%" If this is the final ranking, i'll let MSI know that they should look at details.

You should try 6.7GHz CPU and XP x86 ... . Nice benching!

Suggestion for Rev 4/5/6/99

Do note that this system would also make an effect in the other direction: now you can aim for 2nd (if 1st is out of reach) and know what kind of points you'll have. When someone else comes along and destroys the competition, it's possible you'll lose a lot of points for being 2nd. It would certainly make things a lot more complicated, I think. -

The percentual increase is a good idea, but has some complications. For instance, what do we do in categories where there are very few results? The average or offset cannnot be determined exactly, so it's possible that someone will get 2x the score of the average only because he tested LN2 on the card and the others only stock air and no overclock. Also, this makes using a 980X with older hardware a lot more beneficial since it'll allow you to beat previous scores by quite a large margin. Also, previous good scores will loose points more quickly, I think. Ranking by efficiency is not possible because there's no controlling mechanism. People will downclock just to get more points and we won't be able to do anything about it. I don't see why we should give people an equal amount of points either (it kinda defeats the concept of getting people to push harder) ... if you want more points, you have to beat the score in front of you, not equal it. -

The difference in the two is located in the Nature subtest. The GTX275 will give you roughly 1250-1300FPS whereas the 4890 might only give a 1100FPS score, which is like a difference of 3000p overall. Now, the 4890 (or ati) is known to be better in the system benchmarks (cars and lobbies), so normally you can make up for that loss a bit. The issue is that there might be a nature 'bug' with the Ph-2 just like there is with the Nehalem platform. Basically, the Core 2 Duo platform gives you a single GPU Nature of 1500FPS easily, whereas nehalem (even at high clocks) will have scaling issues past 1100-1150FPS. In this case, the 4890 is a better choice because of the better other subtests ... but I don't know if this is also the case for PH-2. Hope this helps -

Nice pic, but I saw a very little bit too much. There are children on this forum ... so use hearts or stars to cover up the 'stuff'. -
SF3D OC Gathering - Assembly Summer 2010/Can it run Crysis?

I seem to have forgotten Macci. Hm ... I can only think of him answering the phone and hearing Elmor say the words: "I broke my pants, do you want to buy new ones with me" -
What I see is quite a bit of disrespect towards the moderating staff. I know it's easy to think the moderators are here only to get you, but in reality they are here to make sure HWBOT is somewhat clean. It's a policy within the staff to not block scores that have been posted months ago, because chances are great the hardware has been sold or maybe died; however, when a score has been submitted and reported the same day, it's our right to block the score if it doesn't comply to the rules. Now, this is getting a strange, akward and, to be frank, unnecessary argument. We're very relaxed towards members here, hence why Cowie can get away with jerk, dick and other things, but please ... refrain from using those kinds of words or sentences. Also, keep in mind that our entire moderating staff are also just human: it's possible that they get home from work, are a bit frustrated and block a score that is technically not according to the rules. All I ask is to respect the work from the moderating staff and you'll get the respect you need back. This thread shouldn't have gone further than: - "Sorry, what did I do wrong" - "There are no subtests visible" - "Okay, i'll fix it the next time" Everything else is just not needed. Thanks
-
If you think it's 'okay' or 'normal' to call HWBOT moderators this kind of stuff, then maybe yes, you should find another place. Everyone's free to submit what he or she wants. We don't force anyone to submit or remove results. There's a delete-button on every submission ready for you when you need it. Unbelieveable.

NO! You are making use of a service we are providing to the overclocking community. We don't charge ANYTHING to you for using this site, so you are NOT a customer. Get real.

SF3D OC Inflection point - It is alive finally!
Massman replied to SF3D's topic in Extreme overclocking
Yes, I know what you mean. I tested the first edition of the SF3D pot in Russia two years ago and switching from the F1 or other huge pots was difficult because you use less LN2 to make the drop. This one seems to be a bit more balanced in that area, though. Anyway, with practice, you can master ANY pot out there! -

Thread revival! I thoroughy tested this pot in Helsinki last weekend and I must say that I'm (again) impressed by how it handles the 980X! The mounting (backplate etc) is a bit of a hassle in comparison to the Kingpin one, but in terms of temperature control this pot is certainly capable of doing what you want! In fact ... I think I kind of bought one myself . -

Hipro5 is only 18, right? So, per definition, he cannot be slacking.
