Posted November 1, 201014 yr Good morning, pcmv - great! I love this benchmark! And no six core? - this makes it harder, although 4 core procs can do well in this bench also! Just to be sure - older benches are ok to submit (prior to 01Nov?)
November 1, 201014 yr Yeah, limited to 4x CPU because I want to see CPU limited runs :-) Older benches can be submit as long as they fit the limitations
November 1, 201014 yr Author Mr. Massman, have you run pcmv against many single cores? Its a very tough bench for those little guys.
November 1, 201014 yr Author Mr Massman, Question sir - Cpu-z showing mainboard? Most of us have not been doing this. Many previous benches will not be legal to submit for this competition if you require this. Just wanted to make sure you knew.
November 1, 201014 yr Author Can a valid futurmark link be supplied in place of the subscores in the screenshot?
November 1, 201014 yr Mr. Massman, have you run pcmv against many single cores? Its a very tough bench for those little guys. I have never run PCMark Vantage in my life ... so this challenge will be the first time The more stress is put on the CPU, the better. I like tough benchmarks. Mr Massman, Question sir - Cpu-z showing mainboard? Most of us have not been doing this. Many previous benches will not be legal to submit for this competition if you require this. Just wanted to make sure you knew. That's okay. The competition is mainly to motivate people to bench something new, it's not to get people to submit old results. Can a valid futurmark link be supplied in place of the subscores in the screenshot? No, subtest scores must be in the screenshot.
November 1, 201014 yr One thing I noticed... the way the rules are written it sounds like you can disable cores on something like a 980x and bench to get a nice score in the 2 core category. Is that on purpose?
November 1, 201014 yr It goes a bit like Knopfrlerbruce's question: can we use a 4-core CPU and disable HT (Intel only) or do we have to use 4-core CPU with no HT ?
November 1, 201014 yr It's like it is in normal HWBOT: you're allowed to unlock cores and play in a 'higher' league, but you're not allowed to disable cores to play in a 'lower' league. So: unlocking 2 to 4 is allowed (playing in 4), but disabling 6 to 1 is not allowed (you'll still be playing in 6-core league). Hyperthreading is a feature, so of course you can enable it for the 4-core category.
November 2, 201014 yr Could you please update stages with core count. Now looks like we are benching multiprocessor systems.... 1x CPU instead of 1x Core CPU....
November 3, 201014 yr Sorry for another lamer's question. Core i5 670 with 2 core and 4 threads will be placed on 2 core stage isn't it? If yes - this will be not fair coz HT gives some boost. AMD cpuz haven't HT....
November 3, 201014 yr Sorry for another lamer's question. Core i5 670 with 2 core and 4 threads will be placed on 2 core stage isn't it? If yes - this will be not fair coz HT gives some boost. AMD cpuz haven't HT.... Just look at Wprime rankings with 2x CPUs and see whre AMD is.
November 3, 201014 yr You are correct: 2 cores and 4 threads go into the 2-core competition. Why? Hyperthreading is a feature Intel implented to improve the multi-threading performance. It's a FEATURE, just like 'amount of L2 cache' is
November 3, 201014 yr I guess the problem is with core count getting more and more blurred. HT is an investment in die area that does not increase core count but increases performance. Next gen AMD CPUs have something opposite - decrease of die area (per 2 cores) enabling higher core counts. Core count based rankings will be even more Intel-biased then, unless we count bulldozer modules as cores (which is wrong) or logical cores as cores (which is also wrong) or base our rankings on thread count instead of core count (which will unleash a storm of whining and outrage).
November 4, 201014 yr You are correct: 2 cores and 4 threads go into the 2-core competition. So it's good to have 2 and 4 core configs on intel...... While 1 and 3 cores only AMD... This can be interesting...
November 4, 201014 yr Mr Massman, Question sir - Cpu-z showing mainboard? Most of us have not been doing this. Many previous benches will not be legal to submit for this competition if you require this. Just wanted to make sure you knew. That's okay. Does this mean that we dont need the mainboard tab from previous benchmarks to enter this competition ?
November 4, 201014 yr No, it means that many members not being able to submit old results is not a problem for me. As these kinds of challenges are meant for people to make new scores
November 11, 201014 yr It's like it is in normal HWBOT: you're allowed to unlock cores and play in a 'higher' league, but you're not allowed to disable cores to play in a 'lower' league. Hyperthreading is a feature, so of course you can enable it for the 4-core category. i can not submit Phenom II 710 with 4-core unlocked on 4-core category the error message: "Use 4 processor core(s) in total"
November 11, 201014 yr Can the people who have problems submitting with unlocked cores post the URLs of the scores here, please? I will manually link them to the competition untill the bug is solved coding-wise.
