RomanLV Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Please add Geforce 6800 AGP 128bit(or any nv40 & 128 bit). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121216 Better just in case all nv40 & 128 bit (DDR1/2/3, XT/GS/GT...) Quote

Crew Strunkenbold Posted August 17, 2015 Crew Posted August 17, 2015 added http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/permedia_2v/ About those TNT versions, our general guide line is not adding cards based on memory size anymore. There are lots of categorys which should not be there anymore because of this. But things take time, tools to do this comfortably are not working at the moment. The only exception would be if it has some huge performance impact. The rest is still being discussed. Quote
havli Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Wait a minute - so this means the existing categories with different RAM capacity are getting merged? I don't think this is a good idea. Cards with more RAM overclocks worse most of the time... so they would be in disadvantage. Also they tends to have lower stock clocks. In some benchmarks this is compensated by better performance (3DMark 06 128MB vs 256 MB). But mostly the performance is the same at the equal clock.... and lower in absolute. For example these two FireGL X1: http://hw-museum.cz/view-vga.php?vgaID=68 -> http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/firegl_x1_128/ http://hw-museum.cz/view-vga.php?vgaID=186 -> http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/firegl_x1_256/ Obviously the 256MB version is much harder to overclock and because of AGP Pro it can't be used on fastest AGP motherboards like AM2NF3-VSTA or 4core-Dual-sata2. Quote
Christian Ney Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Following this logic we would split for example: R9 290X 4GB R9 290X 8GB Unless there is a specs change other than memory amount and/or performance difference cpc, they should be merged. Quote
havli Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Well, 290X 4GB and 8GB are ok as one category. The overclock doesn't differ much and 4GB is more than enough for all benchmarks at the moment. So no problem here. I'm sure there are plenty of VGAs like 290X (no performance and OC difference). These can be merged for sure. The opposite example is GeForce 2 MX. 32MB overclocks better and because of that it is faster in 3DMarks 2000 - 2003. 64MB wins in Aquamark because it is less dependent on AGP texturing in there. http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/geforce2_mx400_32mb/ http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/geforce2_mx400_64mb/ I guess this is not the only case... So the conclusion - I agree to merge some categories but others should remain separate. It is going to be difficult to decide. And even more difficult in case of adding hardware that isn't in the database yet. Quote
Crew Strunkenbold Posted August 17, 2015 Crew Posted August 17, 2015 This is exactly the problem. Old cards need to be decided individually. Thx for the example. Quote
RomanLV Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) There are very many categories with different memory size. I, too, for the merge with different size. But if merge - then all the. If the separate - too everything. Now I see many categories separates. So why my videocard worse than others? For example - Riva TNT. Why is there a separation of 32 and 16, but there is no 8? Or make only one Riva TNT, or separate 32, 16 and 8. I so think PS And I do not understand - the division because different overclocking (I believe nonsense), because different performance on the same clocks (nearer the truth) ... or other reason? PPS And what about 6800 128bit? The same thing - theare are is 256bit and 64bit (what is this videocard generally?) but no 128bit (production is not noname - ASUS, to which I gave the link) Edited August 17, 2015 by RomanLV Quote

RomanLV Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 By the way, about 6800 - AGP 6800(nv40)+DDR3 absent too http://ixbtlabs.com/articles2/gffx/nv40-7.html Quote
Crew Strunkenbold Posted August 18, 2015 Crew Posted August 18, 2015 By the way, about 6800 - AGP 6800(nv40)+DDR3 absent too http://ixbtlabs.com/articles2/gffx/nv40-7.html its already here: http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/geforce_6800_gs_nv40_agp/ You can see, adding just more and more without research ends in a db which is bloated with incorrect entry's. Already today its too hard for the user to decide which is the right category for his card. We are working on this but its very hard. Until now, I found alone 17 variants of 6800 AGP. Quote
RomanLV Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) its already here:http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/geforce_6800_gs_nv40_agp/ Well... Really it is the same thing, But will it the right (by the current rules) to post the video with ID 6800 in the category "GS"? (would it not be blocked this result for discrepancy?) You can see, adding just more and more without research ends in a db which is bloated with incorrect entry's. Already today its too hard for the user to decide which is the right category for his card. We are working on this but its very hard. Until now, I found alone 17 variants of 6800 AGP. Yes, as I wrote above, many superfluous categories. But the rules have to be one for all. If merge - then all. If the separate - then all too. So while there is a division in the other categories, I insist that it must be in all. Otherwise - it turns unfairly. PS May be make it easier example: 6800 series nv40 DDR1 6800 series nv40 DDR2 6800 series nv40 DDR3 6800 series nv41 DDR1 ......... ................nv42..... ......................... ...............nv45... ets ? Anyway amount pipelines does not matter (it will unlocked, so 6800 @ 16/6 = 66800GT @ 16/6) Or 6800 series nv40 (8/4) DDR1 6800 series nv40 (8/4) DDR2 6800 series nv40 (8/4) DDR3 6800 series nv40 (12/5) DDR1 6800 series nv40 (12/5) DDR2 6800 series nv40 (12/5) DDR3 6800 series nv41 (8/4) DDR1 .................................... ..............nv41 (12/5) etc (If unlocked pirepines take as overclocking) Edited August 18, 2015 by RomanLV Quote

But there is much on my todo list. So I'm saying. On halvi has time (all added for 1-2 days). But for me more than a month do not have time to add 6800. AIW - ok, only 2 weeks ago . With different memory size I did not understand - my add or remove others. If there is a process global rework of database - you could write about it? Rather than ignore. And write including will remove a different size or to add? Though something to write and not to ignore. PS Exactly the same neglect everywhere. Somewhere one year ago complained VantaLT category (there are no results LT - all (ALL!!!) results is nonLT). Reaction moderators - zero). No time, yes ))) That's what I remember, there were repeatedly ignoring Edited August 29, 2015 by RomanLV Quote
