Hi all,

Bargin basement overclocker here.

 

I bought a set of Corsair Vengance Pro 2133 C9 and according to the Corsair serial number list they contain Micron IC's. My initial testing as seen 2600 9-11-11 1.75v but not 32m stable and into windows at 2666 9-11-11 1.85v or 2666 10-14-14 at 1.65v.

 

Wondering if anybody else has played with these new Micron IC's and how they went.

This looks more like Samsung (ver4.13) rather than Micron.

Hi Sam, thanks for the reply, they are v3.24 according to the sticker 2x4G kit 2133 9-11-11 1.65v Vengeance Pro.

ver3.24 is surely Micron, is just that I've seen people mistake Samsung for Micron before.

There are quite a lot of ver3.24 kits on ebay but I have never seen any results on any forums before.

I was trying to improve my benching focusing on SPi32, trying different speeds etc and im not sure which way to go timings wise, but I haven't found any results to compare with anywhere for this version either and everyone always talks about Samsung, Hynix, PSC and D9 etc but no one knows about the new Micron stuff, that's why i thought i would ask here, where there is much experience and great knowledge :-)

I think those modules might be single sided which will definitely not help your scores.

I wrote a brief testing here of 2gb-bit density.Unfortunately micron's are slower for 32M at comparable freq~timings.

 

For example,2800 9-10-13 micron double-sided compared with 2800 9-12-12 Samsung,identical secondary or tertiary is about 1.5 seconds slower.I don't know what the problem is,but it is consistent at lower frequency,medium or high frequency.

 

Corsair pcb should be good for going sub-zero,when I tried low-profile crucial pcb on cold it was a nightmare because of the pcb and when I say that I do not refer to it's size,rather than it's behavior to cold.

 

truth to be told,motherboard makers do not optimize their hw for this particular IC's,so I do believe with some tuning we might have interesting results....

This is somewhat true, hopefully soon they will have some tuning for it.

yeh dude, single sided ic's will kill your bandwidth everytime. take a look at this post from massman as well. its highly critical of the hynix mfr kits, but the jist of it is that single sided sticks arent worth shit, except specifically for memory frequency.

i feel like ive linked this post to way too many people over the 6 months about their ram kit purchases.

There are plenty of valid reasons for why there are single sided sticks. They actually aren't that much slower in terms of bandwidth its just SuperPi and a few other benchmarks are heavily effected by them. There are plenty of double sided MFR kits out there as well.

 

The main reason you are seeing more single sided is because of the switch from 2Gb ICs to 4Gb ICs. While 2Gb ICs are still around most of the volume is in 4Gb ICs which means there will be more single side modules.
