  1. Geez...... All I can suggest is learn the difference between the SPD and memory tabs. Clearly labeled at the top of the program when opened..... Or R. U. F'ing blind AND illiterate?
  2. Read this thread and you'll understand where this is coming from. The issue is with the trial (Unpaid) version of HWmonitor Pro, not the regular (Free) version of HWmonitor. Could be the Pro version once activated (Paid for) will work like the other, no need to worry about it but since most here are using the Pro/Trial version for the comp only it's a "Thing" and that's what I found to resolve this problem. Honestly I woudn't pay for a proggy to only use it for a single comp, doesn't make sense to. I've also discovered the deal with "Trial" appearing sometimes with the sensor readout for things like CPU temps can be resolved by simply closing and restarting the program, it seem to be random in what it chooses to do that with. May have to do it once or twice but it will eventually show the actual readout from that sensor as it should for a valid sub. Regardless, both will work or can be made to if need be as long as it's legal for the comp.
  3. I don't know if anyone has found this solution yet but here it is. For HWmonitor Pro, there was a problem with it not detecting a different CPU if you wanted to swap CPUs for example to try something different, it always shows the CPU the program was initially installed with. While the program doesn't automatically update what it's detecting hardware-wise you can make the program do this without having to reinstall anything. At the top of the program's dialogue box once the program is running you'll see options such as "File", "View", "Network", ect..... go into the "View" option and you will see a function called "Clear Labels". Click that and let the program do what it has to and it will then show the correct hardware in use. You'll have to do this each time you swap hardware to make it show the correct hardware labels but that's how it works.
  4. Nice job with your very first sub! You have to give the site time to update, it can be slow about it at times unfortunately.
  5. Hmmm.... Could be a bug with HWmonitor Pro. Registering the CPU in use when installed and never changing, it's certainly possible. Since I did that with my setup I can swap CPUs over to another type to confirm. Hopefully this doesn't mean you'd have to reinstall a new OS each time you swap chips. ?
  6. Let's see..... No comp background, CPU-Z tabs, HWmonitor showing or anything else - And this isn't the first time he's done somehting like this for the ongoing comp either. I guess he'll learn or just keep getting his subs pulled.
  7. Also, why is your CPU being reported as an FX instead of an Phenom II with your 32M Super PI sub? Checked into this with my CHV-Z and Phenom II 1100T chip, disabled cores to make sure since yours shows disabled cores too - HWmonitor Pro knows the difference, even the trial version can tell and reports it. Took a screenie to illustrate what I came up with.
  8. Thanks for looking into the issue Leeg, it's appreciated very much! ?
  9. I'll keep working with it and see if I can't get the security patch to install, that being the root of my problem here as my screenie shows. If I can't, I guess I'm out. Do what will work best for the comp, I'm not looking to be accomidated or I'd be in contradiction of myself. I have to assume you've already looked at and rejected OHM that's within the X265 benchmark - That works fine and it's a standalone proggy too if it needs to be.
  10. You guys can do whatever - At this point if it's used, unless I can make HWinfo work I'm already done. Error 3033292 (Security update.... WHY IDFH does a hardware monitoring program NEED a security update just to run?) and then something about another error after that. I've already gotten the update to fix 3033292 but the fix refuses to install and throws yet another error as shown below. I was like "Out of all the programs out there for such, They would just have to pick THE ONE monitoring program that puts you through hell to use"........ Then I was over it. ? Bad thing is my benching area has no web connection/service too and I've been trying to make it work on my daily here and of course it doesn't.
  11. I do see the MHz limitation with that being the only limitation shown for DIV I. From the way it's layed out ATM I take it Div I is well, for anything right? I know there should be something specific here but it's not saying what it is (For now anyway). ?
  12. One thing to note is that the board has a built-in CPU OV protection of 2.0v's and will kick in if modded or not, at least that's been the history of it. If this mod can truly negate the CPU OV protection that's a real win, every voltmod I've ever seen done before could never get around it. Speaking of such I still have a couple of these boards around, both can hit 240(+) on the bus with no voltmods done running the right chip but both are A7N8X Deluxe 2.0's, I don't currently own any of the -E boards. BTW the ones I have are also a good alternative like the -E version, as long as it's a 2.0 board it should be OK. And I'll just say good job TR! ?
  13. I'll go ahead and clarify what I was trying to get at with my previous. Taking points away from a bencher regardless of time in to make it easier for a new guy to catch up? - NO Giving the new guys more opportunities to score points they would have to earn themselves? - YES Limiting this extra chance to earn points to those that's been here for 1 year or less only? - YES More comps for the new guys to have these chances, perhaps once a month as an example? - YES Increasing the number of comps period for all - As an example, perhaps establish a quarterly period based comp that runs the entire year? - YES That's it for me without going into any real detail, maybe there's something here useful to start things with.
  14. Thing is the number of comps held is up to the staff, they can if they want increase the number of comps held if they want. I know things have changed in the way of less comps in recent times but that in itself as all other things are could well be changed in the other direction too. You do make a good point about how comp points were dropping off but that could be subject to change too if the staff decides to do so. As for catching up it's no different than it was for us when we started off, we too were behind the rest when we started but with time we managed to catch up. Also look at the number of new guys that stuck with it and climbed the rankings in short order, a big part of it is up to the bencher. There are also guys who have half the time if that much in it I have that's ranked above me, that in itself proves it's not solely a matter of time being involved, it's at least in part the commitment and effort given by the bencher. I don't see the fairness in discounting what the older guys have done, all of us still had to put in the same effort and expense to do it and that shoudn't change for anyone if it's to be done equally across the board, what one earns is theirs. The new guys can participate in comps in the same way we have, it's all up to them to either do so or not. No amount of accomidation can change that if they aren't willing to work for what they get, same as we've had to do all along. Speaking of the number of comps held, the staff could look back and see how those were done and possibly use it for an idea or template for planning future comps if they want, it's certainly possible to do.
  15. +1 to this. The new guys if they hang around WILL eventually earn enough points to be competitive, that being entirely their choice to do or not to do. The older guys will one day move on, just stop benching, drop dead...... In short the older guy won't be around forever to remain out front. Using myself as an example I've been benching here for 10 years now. If a rookie sticks with it they too will one day have the same 10 years in. During all this I could well quit it too, let's say about 13 years in and I'm done as an example of it. Once the new guys goes 13 years like I had done he's matched me period placing them on equal footing with me and what I've done - However exactly what they do with the time is up to them. They at that point will replace the old guy(s) for who's at the top. It's just like at a job somewhere, as the old ages out and retires the new steps up and takes over. In truth there is little between those guys in total time invested whether it's an old or new guy, it happens at different times relative to each other meaning one had to start first but the other will finish later equalling things out in the end. I do not see any point or sense in stripping competition points from those that's already earned them, put in the time and expense to get them only to have them shoved aside to accomidate the new guys. We are once again subscribing to the cult of accomidation that exists here doing this. That never happened for us and we're doing OK, they can do the same because they aren't any better than we are to earn it.
  16. This question will have to be asked in the forum's support section. If you ever have an issue that's the place to ask about problems you're having.
  17. Alot of the above is one of the big reasons I suggested an Elite league that you'd have to qualify for and fight to keep your status as an Elite as I had said here: https://community.hwbot.org/topic/186845-should-we-simplify-the-leagues-in-2019-and-on-or-not/?do=findComment&comment=518965 By this if you decide to try and take a spot as an elite you already know what's involved and can commit to it or just lay back for a year if you want, then go for it again the next time. That's why I suggested it in the way I did, purely optional and no shame if you have to take a break from it then come back later for whatever reason. I'm not looking to cheapen the efforts of those already in the Elite league, instead to make it something that stands well apart from the rest.... And it should or the name Elite loses all meaning. Elite only competitions with prizes for it and such can all be part of it too, it's really up to the guys running the show as to if and how it's done and as said it doesn't have to be done at all right away, could be something to setup for a later revision too.
  18. And yet it may still be required to remove at least some of it to make things better. I get it, you don't miss it until it's gone but at the same time what if it's something that's actually BAD for things inspite of being popular? I'm with the above, going back to something like Rev 3 is probrably the best move to make from here. If wanting anything beyond that I'd allow the base concept of what it's going to be become reality, THEN look into it. This way you are standing on a firm foundation of something that's already been proven as "Good" for a starting point. Set that in place, preserve that format in case it's needed for later (Base concept backup) and go from there. Just my 2 cents on this.
  19. With respect........ I have to ask how is benching any and everything you can get your hands on mediocrity? ? That's what you do to get points however you can. Don't forget this is a site for competition and that means any and everything is fair game so long as it's done within the rules of the site. Doesn't matter what you run, there is no such thing as points that doesn't matter because each and every one counts in the end, saying only points from the newest stuff counts is just ridiculous. Not everyone can bench the newest stuff because it costs money to get and in some cases it's really expensive or in a few rare instances, not even available, at least until everyone else has already had a crack at it with the pieces being sought. If it doesn't cost you anything, either you're just lucky or sponsored which most here cannot claim. If I can get a few points from benching something I've had lying around forever I'll do it - I do care about the points and summing it up as "No one cares" about those isn't accurate at all. BTW I did that recently with a board I've had for over 15 years and yes, those counted too and I'll take 'em however I can get 'em (By the rules of course). Maybe to you it's not worth much or anything and I can understand that because for some it's just not worth the trouble for so little in return...... But I'll also say that's just you and your singular situation, doesn't apply to everyone else's situation here and it's not right to impose that on others trying to earn a few with whatever they can get to even give it a shot with. As for Splave, the community as a whole supports him and he's well earned that respect - If someone is being disrespectful just call them out on it, I can assure you we've got his back. He certainly has my respect. ?
  20. Just a heads up - Been getting this as of late when trying to go to the main site. I can come here to the forum and then use the link at the top and it's not a problem, it's when I try to go directly to the main site this pops up.
  21. To point one indicated in the quote - The definition itself does matter or you coudn't call it either a 2 or 3D bench at all. Regardless of how the bench itself works it still has to be referred to or called something in some way definitively for it to be in a given category. I understand the point about a 3D bench testing the card and that's true but we ourselves have no way to make it work differently than it was made to be short of hacking it - We all know that's just not cool nor legal by the rules. I'm not arguing whether a legacy 3D bench works off the CPU to any extent or not here, if it was originally made to be a 3D bench then that's what it is by intended purpose if anything when created. BTW I am against placing limits on things, let the guys go for it if they want to. Point 2: I do agree the points system is in need of changing, at least to an extent. However if someone sees they cannot do anything to be worth the trouble that alone makes it a limitation. This does need to be addressed in some way and should be done in such a way it's fair to those that either want to or have to run the older stuff. If there is no incentive at all to run the older stuff you'll see new guys no longer appearing - There has to be something at the end to achieve, some goal to work towards and not everyone is crapping $$ to buy the newest and best out there with. Think for a sec, how many folks IF given a chance and would try it could be good or even great. Like in music for example, that guy that never expressed an interest in music or had a chance to learn and prove it could have the talent/potential to have been one of the very best but said talent was never realized because they didn't take interest or had a chance to find out if they did have it in the first place. No telling how many over time could have been as good or even better than what we know of but missed out because they never did it or had a chance to. Same applies to this, we should be making it as easy as possible for someone to get started but only that, get started that is. If they have the chops they'll prove it in time, that being the real test which is something that's all up to them. We can't hold their hand nor should we be expected to. That's just my take on it.
  22. WTF??? A 3D bench is and always will be a 3D bench, doesn't make sense in the way you put it. If someone wants to have a go for globals with a GTX 780 I say let them have at it, it's their time, money and hardware to run and all that to waste if they want. Thing is some CAN do it, doesn't make sense to simply cut them out of contention based on the age of their hardware alone. More competiton is competition no matter what form it takes as long as it's done within the rules set in place. BTW we've walked this path before..... And don't understand why we have to again.
