REV4 up and running! Questions, suggestions, feedback goes in here
knopflerbruce replied to Massman's topic in HWBOT Rev.4
WHy is Turrican not #1 any more? And I gained a few ranks. Before the difference was about... 4700 boints, now only about 1000. Doesn't makse sense to me, is this bug or future related? -
Ok:D Sillllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy... I was SO sure it wasn't there, for some reason.

Kinda weird that the competition ends before the month ends. It still says that the stages are open for another 23 hours, elthough the main compeptition is closed:D -

He didn't suggest all the sockets I think. Other users contributed as well. Any team can grab some boards and CPUs for cheap, if you already own the HW doesn't matter when the cost is as low as in this case (except 1366). -

It's possible that there are too many stages, maybe 4 or 5 would've been enough. Still, a dual socket competition is pretty cool if you ask me:) -

Yeah, and I don't like it. If the clock is 08.10, we don't say it's 600 (seconds) past 8, do we? The rankings look better if we use days, hours, minutes and seconds. However, you need to figure out the number of seconds you need to beat a second score before benching. I think that's a fair trade for a better looking ranking. After studying physics and mathematics for a few years I'd say it looks noobish if you only count seconds:p -

I think both should be minutes and seconds:) Wprime is ranked by # of cores, it looks stupid to have seconds only in the singlecore ranking:p -

I don't think it's a good idea to make people run half'n'half at least, even though that's probably easier to code (10 2D and 10 3D). Max 15 2D and max 15 3D, perhaps that's fair enough. Sounds better to split by 2D/3D rather than specific benchmarks. -

I think it should be up to the bencher to decide what benchmarks he/she wants to run. If you want to get 20 awesome CPUZ results you need alot of skill anyway. -

I have an AsRock s478 board with ddr2 and some fairly new chipset... matx. -

OK, I thought you had to have pics for all submissions, and not just top 15/20 - that makes things easier. This is a good suggestion, in a transition period you can have scores without a system picture, but not forever. If it's hard to write code that allows submissions without pictures to be allowed, maybe it's better to allow a random picture to be uploaded instead. This would have to be the user's responsibility, but it's not that much to ask IMO. -

The good thing about air/water is that the multiplier doesnt matter that much, so it's possible to set some sort of limit for similar CPUs (like 5GHz for E8xxx, 4.7GHz for Nehalem based CPUs etc). We'd just have to agree on something in each case I think. -

This page doesn't work here: http://uat.hwbot.org/benchmark/maxxmem In rev. 3 it's not possible to sort the scores by memory type (DDR, DDR2 or DDR3), this will be fixed in rev. 4? -

Some sort of compromise could be to allow older scores with no pictures that are "slow enough" that any other cooling than air/water is highly unlikely. Like, if you bench a 5GHz+ wolfdale on air, you'd need a picture, but not if it was at 4.5GHz (which is nearly always doable on air). We can't risk having subzero results in the Enthusiast league if you ask me. -
AMD Opteron 1385 in Phenom 8550 X3 class
knopflerbruce replied to Barton's topic in Submission & member moderation
I'm thinking this is just a CPUZ bug - according to this page: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Third%20Generation%20Opteron%201385%20-%20OS1385WGK4DGI%20%28OS1385WGK4DGIBOX%29.html the Opty 1385 is a quadcore, and it also runs at a much higher speed than the 8550.
