  1. Not a bad idea at all Bustah but I don't think the manufacturers would appreciate that ( too bad for them though ).
  2. <== moved all his runs with any kind of "sponsored" hardware or E.S. hardware to non-ranked... Let's see who's who... As for the "manufacturer interference" it's up to the sponsored/overclockers to control, or even turn down.
  3. I never said "ban a user with a weird or just very good score", neither said "Ban Andre if he posts a 6.85GHz Pi1m with a retail 980X". What I said is, just like you can doubt a user's result, the same applies to Andre and any member/OCer. And since, there's none retail 980X out there running SuperPi 1M at 6.7GHz+ I don't think it's unreasonable to have doubts about a result, no matter who the overclocker that got it is.
  4. I think you're wrong. It might not be your fault, I think you weren't a result moderator in the past, were you ? One relatively recent example ? $@39@... Don't waste your time, I have the msn log from my conversation with massman. There are other examples from the past with a few people from other teams and countries, unfortunately I don't remember the details. But, I'm not saying it's bad. Every "weird" or "eyebrow-raising" result should be checked up and if things look naughty asking for more proof isn't a bad thing. Unless you guys think it's fair to only ask some people for proof while others have immunity.
  5. @knop: Simply put, if it wasn't Andre, and I suddenly chime in and post a SuperPi 1M at 6.85GHz and a 3D Mark05 at 6.7GHz with a retail 980X, wouldn't most of you ( if not all ) be asking for proof ? Come on, lie to me in my face [ feel free to substitute my nick with another bencher's nick... be it Riska, be it Nosfer@tu, be it Evil Ananas, be it ryba, be it tapakah ] ...
  6. I'm not the one posting crazy clocks and promising unseen clocks on retails too. Plus I would be willing to do anything to prove any score of mine if asked.
  7. no, fact is cpu-z can be easily cheated. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if we discover that lots of people have been doing it.
  8. and you just contradicted massman's main excuse on banning/point-lessing the ES a few pages ago. and yes, I don't blindly trust people, especially the ones who've done something that gives you a reason not to trust them like that. OPB deja-vu anybody ? let's not forget that there's a possible motive as well.
  9. @knop... so if Andre comes up with 1 retaio at 6.7G all is good right? where did all your "e.s. can be modified to show up as retail ?"
  10. That's 4 Q3QP's... Even though I asked for Q3FE's, where are the rest 46 ? p.s. Sure, Andre sold the crappy 50+ E.S. to his personal contacts and through forums ( well, where are those forums with the E.S. for sale threads ? ), they were all happy to buy crappy chips with no warranty So, we have 4-5 guys testing 100's of chips each and all the rejects magically disappear without hitting ebay/craigslist/ocbay/etc.
  11. Maybe they'll change their mind after people start leaving. Maybe not.
  12. In a dream world it would make sense, but you know knop, when Andre, Nick and 2-3 more people bin 50 at least E.S. and on ebay there are like 30 E.S. available... tell us, what's the real-life scenario. I assume you don't believe that Andre eats all those rejects for dinner... Let's say that I want to bin Q3FE's. And let's also assume that none of the Q3FE's sold on ebay are pretested by another bencher. How many Q3FE's can I find on ebay or any other place on the net that you can buy from with some sense of security ? I'm willing to spend 50k$ on Q3FE's, can you find them for me ?
  13. I fail to see where I said anything about your IQ. Hello hello... is anyone knocking on my door... We are talking about the 980X & 670 E.S. Nobody would have a problem if the usage of those specific ES's gets disallowed but all the other ES's ( Wolfdales, Yorkfields, Pontiums ) remain as normal, ranked and with points awarded, since they're not any better than the retail parts. Let me rephrase the poll for you: Should HWbot do allow/disallow ( no points, or just have them without being awarded with points/cups/etc ) the 980X & 670 ES ? Once again, retail binning isn't illegal, never was, never will be. And it's not as hard as E.S. binning is for the people with no access to first hand ES hardware. Are you trying to ignore this line or what ? The rest are nonsensical, I won't waste my time explaining things you should know since you appear to be an experienced bencher, well aware of the situation and the community in general
  14. We're not talking generally here, so be my guest and prove the following wrong by finding a 6.86GHz SuperPi 1M Core i7 980X and a 7.12GHz CPU-z validated retail Core i5 670. It has been mentioned a million times before, binning retails is much harder than binning ES's when it comes to finding a good chip asap. Plus, the "mere" mortals have a chance of getting a competitive chip when everybody's playing with retails. With the ES you have no chance to get "lucky" and find a retail as good as the top ES. Don't know if an IQ higher than 60 is needed to understand this. Nobody said they're not, but why are you excluding everybody else ? Why don't the "top 3" win in live events or even get ranked at 7th or even lower place more or less ? You're making it sound like there are 10 top OCers and the rest are noobs. Nothing, because people complain about the ES and not about binning. If somebody starts complaining about binning 99% of the community will tell him to suck it up. Next please!
  15. While we're at it, why don't we just preselect the top 10 ranking and assign a spot to preselected OCers. You don't have the right to get past X. Even if you lawfully surpass his score, your score will be ranked under his. Works out for both ranking-addicts and the greedy manufacturers that lots of you beg up.
  16. Massman is right here folks, let's wait for the big brains to come up with the perfect solution.
  17. Or just f* the team rankings since most of the people are selfish... good people
  18. Sure he is, he wears techno trendy t-shirts. Unless there's a game called "We pretend to be stupid" and we're part of that, you know and get what I meant. We know who the big sponsored guys are. The rest sponsored guys will have to come out clean themselves, nobody said "force X into pro". Once again, all I see the last few months is "claims of willingness" and hesitation(?) to take any actions, even if it's just a tiny thing ( let's say adding a CPU batch text field ).
  19. Cold Slow Bug fix added, screw you nVIDIA & mfc's
  20. Massman you don't know who the sponsored people are ? Are you kidding us man ? Considering that sponsored for overclocking differs from getting 1 review sample every now and then, it's quite easy... Let's see if I can guess some... HiCookie Andre Yang Nickshih SF3D K|ngp|n elmor hipro5 kinc hiwa stummerwinter youngpro Deanzo Vivi ( at least until a few months ago )
  21. @ TinTin@OCQQ Wanna see how things are on the other side ? Let's swap CPUs for a day, and we'll then see how you'll react and how easy you'll take it. The message is very clear... maybe it's too bright for some people...
  22. Man all these excuses sound like OPB to me... If this and this and that and this... not maximizing the performance on LN2 without lapping ? Sorry but that's pretty much ridiculous, the IHS's of the i7s are very good, and I haven't seen any core i7 with an IHS that makes you lap it to get the cpu down to a good temp. Ceramique makes the CPU IHS undreadable ? Maybe if you leave it on the CPU for 24 years.
  23. My respect to the 2 people who bench with ES 980X and 670 and have good scores with them and voted against using ES CPUs
  24. Video proof is not as hard some people like to make it look it is. Setup ready only the pot not mounted. Video the CPU's IHS ( you lapped it ? I don't care, you shouldn't have, there's no gain, maybe to cover up the usage of ES CPU ? ), keep filming ( yeah I know it's hard to do it on your own, and it's also very hard to have somebody there to handle the camera... ), mount the pot, boot, cpu-z live validation at the benching frequency, and a "diagnostic" run at the same or very similar clocks. Nice and clear, no doubts.
