Who needs CPU cores in PCMark right lol... Seriously.. -

Is that still thermal grease, or is the die really discolored? Looks burned -
Oh they'll be so thankful :D

MSI Afterburner Extreme - how to get it?
Masterchief79 replied to Massman's topic in Extreme overclocking
Isn't that it? http://www.mediafire.com/?5yoofshmcf3eoku Got there from here: http://www.overclock.net/t/778918/overclocking-questions-msi-afterburner-extreme Edit: By the way - just requested an ABX Version from MSI here in Germany, I'm excited what I'll get back. -

Hynix is very probable I guess... Well let's put it like this, these aren't mine anyways and also the chips are pretty crappy.^^ I just wondered why they aren't working as they should, could have been a general issue with 4GB modules or something. -

I don't think so. Specified for 2133MHz CL9-11-10-28 2T or something. Aren't good chips, just got them laying around. Can run them on Auto, but as soon as I try to change the latencies manually, I don't get a post. Maybe because they are 4GB modules? For benching, I inserted my 1155 Ram (2x2GB AData XPG G 2000MHz CL9-9-9-24 1T). Everything was running fine then. Edit: http://geizhals.de/eu/735666 but only with 2 modules. -

Ah yes btw: I got that money for the REX back from eBay in the meantime. Board didn't boot after crashing once. I dismounted the coolers, resoldered the NB-chokes and modified the coolers slightly (I abraded some copper so the chokes don't have contact with the cooling system anymore). This was a problem, because the chokes weren't perfectly straight in place and somehow, the coolers pressed against the (already weak) solder jonts. Well, mounted my SS and benched a E3400 after that, board couldn't have worked better PS: Am I right if I say that REX's doesn't like G.Skill Ram? -
Show here your alternative cooling solution

Mem Pot? What for? Both nice mounting and nice wallpaper eh D9GKX Chips at 722MHz CL5-6-6-18 2T 2,26V though SS didn't make any difference Edit: Ah right, also my GTX580 SOC: 151547 3D Mark 03 -

My one is one of the "old" revison (at least I was told so), completely blue PCI-E slots, built in week 24 2008. -

I'm afraid that it weren't my settings. Apparently, I don't have much experience with this board, but can't be that hard right? I mean taking my Rampage Formula to 645 FSB took me about 10 minutes and after all, the RE is not so different. Well, I had some friends over and we were trying to game on this board, it crashed and I couldn't boot it up again. Just seems to be some kind of defective, I will just give it back. By the way, I also had a MSI P45 Platinum, had pretty much all bugs which you could possibly have with it. There was no BIOS that worked except 1.1, all other ones didn't boot at all (no POST), I mean WTF is this shit?! Do they have monkeys there at MSI for BIOS programming or what? Had to deal with that board for over two years, it also didn't POST over 533 FSB. 532 was perfectly stable, but there was simply _NO WAY_ to get it boot with 533. Try to declare this as a case for RMA. ^^ Never had a MSI board again since then, except for a Big Bang Marshal which I could buy pretty cheap and sell pretty expensive. @Leeghoofd: This is going to be a looong thread if everyone starts to talk about Asus RMA I exactly know what you mean, I returned an M4E which burned due to a defective Ram module (TeamGroup didn't reply of course, so what else to do with it)? Guess what I got back.... I really try to avoid Asus boards since then, but I already burned a DFI X48 and for 775, there are not many alternatives eh... @Roman: Ouch Did you try to RMA the Mars? By the way, reminds me of my not-bought-for-overclocking-HD5970 Black Edition Limited, also not stable @stock... -

@Massman: Hmm, I have an EVGA P67 SLI that doesn't work with a BCLK higher than 99,8. When I set it to 101 in Windows, it killed 2 UUSB Ports and my external harddrive. @Christian: Same, I've got a HD5970 BE Limited that only does 840MHz GPU^^ -
Hey guys, got my super awesome totally-must-have RampageExtreme X48 today. Tested with 2x E8400 and a lot of DDR3 Ram modules. One CPU does about 610x9 FSB, the other one about 625x9 and 645x8 (C0 and E0) @ Singlestage on my Rampage Formula. Well, got them to 583 FSB on my REX. It's even one of the "good" ones with completely blue PCI-E slots. Anyone ever had a worse REX?! vNB = 1,67V. I have to add that, when I first dismounted the boards cooling system, several components were still stuck to the coolers. Nice build quality Asus. Had to resolder them first. One of it was a choke for the Northbridge potential delivery. Do you think this could be a reason for the board going so badly? By the way, I got it to 550MHz FSB SuperPi 1M with 1,391V vNB. That seemed pretty okay and i hoped to get it to maybe 630 or something with more voltage. But I tried different CPUs, Rams, BIOSes and a lot of settings and i was unable to do 585 SuperPi 1M. Hardware Masters, let me know what you think Never gonna use eBay again for buying motherboards Regards, Masterchief79

Rice insulation, why didn't asians come up with that first? j/k, nice WR and this rice thing is seriously not a bad idea. Though I am wondering why you didn't get a better score with your 6970MHz -
I wonder if you will some day regret what you've done But you're right, even if Intel blacklists you, wouldn't make that a big difference eh^^
-
For sure, thanks Have got an A3 card here (729@water), but I would have to solder a Zombie mod, VRM dead... This construction worked surprisingly well. With my 4-layer armaflex-sandwich©®™ I was able to bench 6-7 hours straight without a single crash. By the way: Your HD5850 Vantage score is next on my To-Do list, only 10 points to go

Retail? TIM changed? Damn I would kill for such a CPU, don't make the mistake and come to Germany again until it's dead

The case of the Lock-16X - What The F?
Masterchief79 replied to Massman's topic in Ivy Bridge (Z77) OC
You should actually suppose that Intel learned their lesson from the last chipset disaster Or it could just be a general CPU issue. I mean, everybody was crying already at 32nm Sandy and 1,7V. Now we are at 22nm and 1,9V+. On the other hand, it really seems to be the boards fault... Concerning the fact that some boards still run fine @stock, also could be a software problem eh?
