Ah ok really interesting. I made a zombie out of a 2900XT which should be a decent VRM for stuff like midrange cards, but I guess I'm out of luck for 9600GT then. Still have tons of other cards to try it on, so I'm not too sad Just really good to know this cold slow bug thing, I was disappointed already cause my SS+VGA constructions never work..^^ # // Oh yea and before I proceed now and insulate my 8600GT, does this bug occur on G84 chips too? -

Lol rly? I read about coldbugs at about -45°C, but a "cold slow bug"? Never heard of it, ok then I will have to settle with air cooling, thanks for the tip, I would have never guessed that -

Hi guys, I voltmodded my 9600GT (it uses an UP6203A voltage controller). Voltages and everything completely fine. Tested a little at air and got ok-scores for air cooling. So I switched to SS and got the worst performance ever. Like, 50FPS in the first 3D Mark 03 test (should be around 1000). Clocks are ok from what GPU-Z says. I switched back to air cooling and everything is fine again. I believe the card goes in some kind of safe/throttling mode (although GPUZ shows regular 3D clocks) because it reads a wrong temperature. With SS on, it reads a temperature of 235-250°C while actually having -40°C. Now, my question, what do you think and do you know any way of modding the controller to go around this stupid temperature bug? when the ceiling fan goes from airplane mode to silent and you think "cr*p vga driver resetted again"

Concerning 780Ti Firestrike competition: It says no ES. --> What about MSI 780Ti Lightning? Tolsty sold one here in the forum, where ES sales are also not allowed, so it's obviously not an ES? -
I'm not in a hurry thanks Glhf benching

Yes would be great to know. But don't kill your card Something around 1,6V would already be pretty okay.
-
So I guess I just have to try it then. If everything goes well, I can use it for my next session. Worst case: Good practice for my 5870 Lightning zombie.

I'm just gonna use this thread... I just built a zombie out of an old artifacting HD2900XT after TiN's guide: http://kingpincooling.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1095 So there are two VT1165 controllers on there which can't be just FB-modded. One controls 6-phase GPU VRM, the other one one-phase Mem VRM. I would need one evc for each controller I suppose. I think you did not test 2900XT yourself yet? Do you think I can control my zombie with your evc's properly?

Possible to test the OC potential on air?
-
I have had one in my life, and in contrast to all you guys out there, I received mine in broken state and fixed it, instead of the other way round Even got my money back from the seller, was able to solder the NB VRMs back on, and now the board is fully working under LN2 and also 24/7. Who else's first REX is still working?
-
My god Roman, you must have your own REX graveyard behind the house by now
-
That of course makes it more of a gamble - huge money for me
-
I consider buying it, can you reserve it for me for one day please? PS: I don't even dare to ask But is there any chance on warranty if I get that thing and it decides to go defective after 2 weeks of normal usage or something?
-
If it has an ASP1212 voltage controller, you can also do a simple FB mod on Pin 4 (VCPU): http://www.irf.com/product-info/datasheets/data/pb-asp1212.pdf

How's the Memory on those cards? Did MSI use cheap Elpida again like on the 780 (non-TI) Lighnting? Where do you live (shipping costs)?
-
Alright thanks for letting me know. Please understand that it would probably only pay off for me to buy both cards (lower price per card and lower shipping costs).
-
I would take both (living in Germany). Unfortunately I have no idea what PostaPay is. PayPal is no option?

You were right, forgot to look at the back side... There is a CHiL CHL8212 in the front: http://www.digchip.com/datasheets/parts/datasheet/232/CHL8212-pdf.php Pin 3 (VSEN) right? It's the one in Figure 3. -

Hi guys, can you help me with that pinout: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/msp430f5510.pdf It's the vMem Controller on my GTX680 SOC (M430F5510). Not really sure which pin is FB. Pin 17 maybe? Just running the card on 1476MHz GPU@H20 in 3DM11 and higher Memory clocks would be more than welcome Thanks in advance -
Would be nice to know, I wanna operate it too if I buy it @Moose, do you have OC scores with your Matrix? Pearl or garbage?
