Overclocking Autarky in Rev6
Yeah, I think that's a better approach as far as enticing people to participate goes. I'm still not sure how much revenue can be raised this way though, I don't see participation levels being overly high for something people have to buy into either way, but I'm intrigued to see how it will go especially since the other leagues will remain untouched this time. I'm assuming amongst all this that vendors are still welcome to host their own competitions here and will continue to have a part in hwbot and the overclocking community?

Overclocking Autarky in Rev6
I don't think it will work that well to be honest, I think you posted on FB at some point and I slammed it then, although maybe a little too harshly. One of the first issues I see is lower participation numbers. As noted by the attitude of a few in this discussion already, people aren't going to pay to enter a competition they believe they have no chance of winning. A way around that might be the free entry for people who don't want to a shot at the winnings but that's a little alienating I feel. Money brings out the worst in people, whether it be actually cheating or even just accusing other people of cheating, it could get messy very quickly. Money is already a prize factor, but more often then not you're competing for that money in a live environment where it is much harder to actively cheat. It's also a lot more fun and a great experience. I also personally don't have much of an issue with industry involvement with overclocking, and while self sustainability does sound good I really hope that doesn't have to come at the expense of the community. My 2c, I still bring an open mind to the table and am open to hearing more.

Ah, interesting. Thanks for that. I have actually been using the tool Stilt built for this very purpose, but maybe it's not working on the gigabyte boards? Or maybe there's a TDP limit enforced by the bios that has no setting to override? Might have to try an Asrock Extreme6 and see if I get the same thing. Taking this whole a little fun with an amd apu thing waaay to far- The official HWBOT Country Cup 2013 thread.
