  1. I think this would be a good addition to the rules - it should help.
  2. If we are giving it all away I might as well help a little - for xpstart up limiting - many ways - all involve making just enough read contention on the test drive - 1. use a h/w raid controller with its own cat5 and change controller settings to slow down the read rate 2. use an external thumb drive and do a copy operation to the test drive during the test - most folks use this 3. use crystal disk mark during test 4. this is the one i use almost exclusively now but there is a learning curve - iometer executed from a saved config file via a .bat Steve.
  3. Wow, you been busy! Nice clock on the SB!
  4. Thanks guys, the 1st and probably the last time I will run the board with a proc - still - very gratifying !
  5. ^^ Interesting - but as I understand the rules as they are now - this is not allowed?
  6. ^^ Denis - what link? a submission link?
  7. Konakona - +1 on the picture verification Mr.Scott and Sweet - In pcm05 raw horsepower still trumps tweaks - http://hwbot.org/submission/2232179_mtech_pcmark_2005_core_2_e8600_(3.33ghz)_39435_marks http://hwbot.org/submission/2238915_s_a_v_pcmark_2005_phenom_ii_x2_560_be_37905_marks
  8. Great clock, great score! Well done! If you have it please post your futuremark link
  9. Cudos to you Christian for finding this!! When does the NDA come off??
  10. Intel Rapid Storage Technology is a basic form of disk cache that uses system dram for write combining. Many SSDs have there own dram inside. Raid controllers have controller dram, some have a lot. Some of the new pcie direct connect drives have this capability built into the storage driver (ability to use system ram as cache). The amount of system dram that can be used by these drivers will go nowhere but up. Good for system speed but a dilema for benchmarking.
  11. Yes, you can boot from a drive assisted by ramcache - that's the problem. edit - actually only part of the problem <rolls eyes>.
  12. I think yes - add no ramcache to the rules but it's probably a temporary fix. Longer term - either a wrapper or replace. Anvil (XS) would be best to describe what needs to be in the wrapper - or maybe just the latest version of anvil's Storage Benchmark in the screenshot - it provides a lot of info about the storage used. Replace is tough - pcmark7 is awful as it currently is, pcmv is way skewed to storage - much more than pcm05. But skewed towards storage sounds great to me!
  13. Most of the new pcie direct connect drives have excellent "mft like" software and from what I can tell - the s/w is needed just to use the drive (bundled with the driver) - if we allow "ram caching" we will see hdd scores approaching 3k and virus approaching 10k. Do we really want to allow this?
  14. Actually - I have seen almost 10,000 virus scan
  15. wow - boot device - 60GB OCZ-VERTEX2 ATA Device - ??
  16. Wow - Christian - great HDD score - can you give us a hint?
  17. Good job! If you have an old 5870 lying around give that a try - 1000/1300 oc if you can.
  18. ^^ thinking about saving up for an sr-2 setup so I can do 12x pcm05!!
  19. ^^ thanks guys, still pushing here with the other 2D
  20. w7x64 is actually just as good or better than vista - reason is the memory score in the quad subtest
  21. good clock on the 8600 - going cold with the 580 next?
