  1. I agree with the principle there, but realistically I think that keeps hwbot from moving forward as it seems the rules are rarely updated, even when official clarifications are made within the forum. We dont even have rules for 2 existing benches, one of which awards globals and world record points. I do think fixing the rules fits with the stated hwbot mission this year for simplifying things.
  2. Congrats, impressive clocks! Another old BD chip tearing it up.
  3. I don't know you and I didn't read your posts specifically. If you took my statements personally, please don't. It's just the way I feel based on my experience benching at hwbot.
  4. Being familiar with the benches and the accepted practices/rules at hwbot has always been part of the competition to me... Unfortunately rule documentation has always been a weak part of HWBot. There is a lot that isn't made unmistakeably clear. Our team has been applying the UCBench tweaks for months (year?), and the submissions have never been contested. If you look around at submissions, many of them are using thread/instruction set tweaks that are just now coming under debate here. In the rules, the "use default options" to me meant under advanced for "bench mode" you leave default selected - not time based, not password based. I think the rules should just be clarified to reflect what has been enforced historically. I don't see any inconsistency in enforcement.
  5. Could we get a poll on this to see what people think?
  6. Currently if viewing the teams league, the teams are in the wrong order.
  7. http://hwbot.org/user/hkepc/ 4x 7970 world record, 500 globals in 3 months, affiliated with hkepc.com
  8. Cool, thanks. While I've got you, is a fix for the team rankings scheduled?
  9. I know there are more important point/ranking issues currently, but I wanted to know if this bug is still planned for implementation: http://bugs.hwbot.org/browse/HWBOT-694 3 months ago this was referenced here: http://hwbot.org/forum/showpost.php?p=164573&postcount=31
  10. Got it, thank you for saying again - I guess it took twice for it to sink in.
  11. You can edit this score in the top right sidebar. You submitted it as a 64 core system - you should not select 8x for the processor, that is there for 8 socket systems.
  12. Dejo participated for our team in May, and did not receive competition points: http://hwbot.org/submission/2287935 http://hwbot.org/submission/2288063 Are competition points manually or automatically awarded normally? I'm not sure if any other teammates did not receive the points they should have earned.
  13. The new guy taking down the team captain a peg! Look out!
  14. Thanks guys. GPU is fairly handicapped but it did well enough I suppose. It won't take more cold than -15C or more volts than 1.32V.
  15. Impressive chip and result there! Nice work. Good as time to ask as any I imagine... What determines where you are ranked when its a tie? First score submitted ranks higher?
  16. Can we get the official background link updated on this page: http://hwbot.org/competition/team_cup_2012/ This is the correct working link it appears: http://hwbot.org/blog/wp-content/hwbot-team-cup.jpg This is the broken link currently on that page: http://hwbot.org/blog/wp-content//teamcup_2012_bg.jpg
  17. Thanks guys... The score stacks up pretty well considering I didn't overclock the GPU hardly. Just did the GPU settings, didn't find max and that was that - this score is all CPU power and tweaks (GPU doesn't really make a difference). Interesting that it came out ahead of 3rd and 4th place which were also on IB with higher CPU clocks... Those scores should be between my score and first place. I'm going to put up a better Aquamark global soon, once I run the 5870 I should be around 480K without much trouble. Just need to find time, and I have an 8800 GT 512 to punish as well.
  18. Less than 100mhz on my 8.2 chip. But 2 cores at a time gave out before 8ghz.
  19. I got my max clocks on a different set of sticks than my previous submissions. Gskill Flares. I discounted it to coincidence that the stars just aligned. Could be something to being able to run the ram at a certain frequency though... From my experience at 8GHz I wouldn't be surprised at all. It's like magic making everything work together in my experience, for that split second to save the result.
  20. Nice result. New chip or old chip? From your method, sounds like you did both cores at 8.6... which is REALLY nuts. Good work.
  21. In my opinion, their is a big farce in the OC community... That results mean "skill". Results are just that, results. They are proof that you were able to do something. The rankings don't represent skill, they represent who has managed to post the best results. You can't measure skill with points. Skill may help get good results, but there are many ways other than skill to do well in the rankings. The rankings should be made to accurately reflect difficulty and challenge, and I think the rankings do that. The points need tuned up (big global points for low competition, less difficult categories), but I think the rankings are good the way they are broken down for individuals. I don't like the team rankings as much though. It makes the scores by people on air nearly meaningless (unless they are epic grinders), with a few people doing cold on most teams making up a large percentage of the teams total points. Harder in rev 4 than rev 3 to encourage other teammates to really get into benching when the extreme guys are the ones who really have the ability to affect team rankings in the top 20.
  22. Good point. I just wouldn't try to take that score down with that chip, and expect it to last more than 24 hours.
