  1. Nice score. How did you get your Virus scan to rank so much higher than others with a similar General Usage without sector size changes?
  2. did these listed by gappo and the one we're posting in pass moderation as vapor added this one to the mix 14 hrs ago? http://hwbot.org/submission/2347006_
  3. i see where your coming from but perhaps i care less for peoples feelings seller attempts to sell overpriced item > 10 people come to correct price > seller modifies price > first page Ta-daa but thread bumped at least 10 times. without open offers on items market price is a crap shoot and invites overpricing. unless a buyer/seller is right on the ball they will not know what price an item is worth and it is far more likely to be marked up. numerous reasons come to mind as to why this would happen but the end result is less good deals being made available, less sales are made and more rude pm's are sent between interested buyers and disgruntled sellers. on the surface i have no doubt the forum appears tidy but in reality there is far more conversation and opinionated distain between members than would be permitted in open forum. overpricing indicates profiteering or a vendors wish to take his sale to ebay. from a moderators perspective i can understand closing forum chatter and making things as hands free as possible.. plain and simple it's easier but it's not the best way to run a trading forum. in all fairness to hwbot, it's members and most of all the voluntary hard work the mods put in, i'd be looking to do it right the first time or not do it at all. sale sections are a hot potato and can turn into a nightmare. maybe this thread should ask for volunteers / numbers to moderate a fs section before working on the in's and out's? (to add: i'd love to but honestly don't know if i would be able to spare the full amount of time something like this deserves).
  4. really, if a seller puts an item up and a random complains about the price it really complicates this that much? surely the seller either drops his price because it was excessive, ignores the complainant or justifies the price with good reasoning which in turn likely benefits the sale. even ebay shows buyers how the auction is going. i would guess that without open bids far more bs from sellers lying, about how much they have been offered by another pm, to drive prices than you would be aware of. simply because you are honest very much does not reflect on the rest of the world. thread crapping and piling crap on invites loss of FS section privileges for users and quickly dries up... but this is my opinion.
  5. completely disagree. keeping offers in thread shows transparency as to who is bidding and how much they are offering. it stops vendors bullshitting buyers by saying "oh yeah i've already been offered x more by omeone else". it also allows users to keep tabs on the going rate for specific items.. assisting them price items also stops some vendors from pulling sales because they thought the item was worth more or pulling because of stupid abuse in thread about overpricing. i'd also add i like forum sales with both a reserve and an instant. if i'm trading out kit to buy something else it's far easier to put my bottom line down in the reserve and anything on top is gravy. eg: Item 1: Corsair H100 WC unit Aprox 1.5 yrs old, quiet pump, consistent performer. Only selling cause I wanted a custom loop with GPU. Includes all fittings packed and labelled.Original unused fans. Radiator cleaned out with compressed air. Clean CPU plate. Original packaging. Ready to go Res 70 Ins 85 Post set @ 15 Item 3: 2 x Western Digital WD Green 1TB WD10EZRX 1.5yrs old, light use, each was 1/2 full. res 40ea pp inst 45ea pp inst if you buy both is 80pp Post one set 10 Post for 2 set 15 i just don't like the idea of everything being via pm. for starters massman would get bombarded to raise the cap on pm's lol. if items take a while to come through from a vendor a friendly 'hey m8 your not replying to my pm's" bump in a thread can often get the wheels back in motion. and if a sale turns nasty vendor verdict has a place to be aired without new threads being opened in other areas of the forum. sale mods watch the sale section etc. (i've heard more stories about sales going bad on xs with almost nothing a buyer can do than in any other trading section on a forum). :ws: the easiest way with VB is to ask vendors to clearly state what they are selling in the title: FS 7970 Lightning then when someone wants to do a search in the FS subforum they just tick thread titles to avoid every non sale conversation.
  6. if it's younger than 7 days and / or still sealed in the packet it's deemed new and folks can sell their gear elsware.. but that's on OCAU. obviously the above could be made as applicable or otherwise to a hwbot fs section if it were to go ahead. i posted the rules to give mods who might not have had to admin sale threads before an idea of what other sites consider kosha.
  7. i've admin'd a fs section in my old gaming forum without too much issue. the best 'for sale' rules i've seen is with my home forum at OCAU. it's got a min 90 day forum membership before you have access to the FS section which trims out a lot of the bs vendors and to help, if a FS section is likely to go live here is a copy/paste of OCAU's rules, (for reference only):
  8. Mr. Scott - in order of links: Gluvocio's, sofos1990 & Moose were all using a combination of arecas with onboard cache and xpertraid. SAV's sub was the one submission only using xpert and this can be seen in his low GU subtest. Paco looks to be using a LSI 3081E-R or rebrand Intel SASUC8I, (bloody nice find to get a controller working with iRams BTW. I only found HighPoint's to work). Either way the controller has no onboard cache. Noting that, I have 9 iRams here and when running 8 in R0 I don't get 100% scaling. iRams deliver around 120mbs at best so in a perfect world where everything runs like it's on paper the GU is still significantly higher than possible. With no ORB link to compare VS I would agree with El Gappo and flag this sub needing further evidence.
  9. GU & esp VS way to high for 2 drive raid expert without changing sector size.
  10. thanks m8. still more tweaking to be done with the os and the UP7 needs a little more work on the bios for things run more smoothly.
  11. I would be pretty confident in stating that irrespective of mods starting this rule back in October, I am sure that even though the official rules page is dated Jan 1 the page was previewed publicly before Christmas - Ignorance of rulings is rarely an excuse. I have to assume its one rule for all and this sub alone makes a mockery of that statement.
  12. With the chatter in the clarification thread as well as above surely it’s time to delete this submission. It must be seen as a continuing embarrassment to all concerned? Massman himself has stated categorically:
  13. i'm pretty sure we all feel the same way about this and with the efforts of staff & mods being asked to continually address the abortive mess of pcmark. 3d being so much easier to work with.. install kit, clock kit, run benchmark & submit. the problem is that with all the epeen and ego stroking that many crave, tweaking pcm has been driven to the brink, (likely to be pushed even further when folks start trying to beat a wrapper if/when pcm gets one). with ramcache specifically - if ruled against would admittedly be time consuming to moderate but it does tend to stick out like dogs balls. either way we eagerly look forward to what conclusion the staff consensus comes too.
  14. seeing as this thread has been open for 4 days, no mod action has been taken and no one has reported the sub i've taken the step to report the sub. (sorry christian this action is not meant to be personal i'd just like to know if ramcaching is permitted in pcv permanently, just for comps or never and here is as good a place as any to ask the question as the answer is clearly not obvious).
  15. seconded here. many i know bench 2 or 3 gens behind purely for financial reasons. i could never have afforded a Q9770 setup when they came out but now you can find them cheap and have a go at the older scores with everyone rewarded for their efforts not just the recent sub.
  16. benching in tropical far north queensland if you don't recognise the below we like to use stubby holders as a pot extensions, (its a wetsuit material holder to keep your beer cold).
