  1. i've tried making a PC05 submit with a i3 3220 but the chip is listed as a 4 core when its a duo. Intel ARK link i think theres more to the error than just the unit listing set to Global 4x CPU rank as when clicking on the 'my best submission' links i get the "Oops. Seems like this page does not exist any more" message. link to submission thanks in advance.
  2. cheers gaz. still lots to play with - wpr and latency still havent seen any real love
  3. i'm not have a look at the gap between gen usage and virus and it's pretty easy to spot results that have.
  4. apologies for bumping before a decision has been made but how's is the RST & RAIDXpert debate going? looking through the top 40 scores it's pretty easy to spot where it's being used, (as well as what looks like 4k sector size in some instances).
  5. the wife. wasn't issued enough pocket money to buy the fps i wanted lol.
  6. when you consider stopping smoking to increase the hardare budget
  7. imo rst & amd should be pulled. we don't allow mip or wire in 3d so folks who don't have the latest and greatest gfx card can still compete for globals now do we? you don't hear folks complaining that they can't compete agains volt-modded cards or how can he be allowed because he's on subzero. hardware benching is just that surely? raid is still possible for non 3rd party controller owners with onboard and still not having to use things like rst. in the giddy days when pc05 was mostly a storage based bench software & ram cacheing i thought was verboten - period. as for new subs coming in... i cannot help but agree that the 'piss taking' is still continuing. ethics online is thin on ground as it is. i've spent the last day and a half with another team member doing some comparison runs: 3770k @ 4.5, 4gb 2400 psc 9-10-9, lsi 9265-8i with 8 agility 3s and an old 5870 @ 1000/1300. using drive letter change to keep xp startup around 200mbs, bob tweak, d3d, powertoy (regedit) and tidy ie9. scores sitting consistantly around 44k. about to throw some sub on the chip now.. does anyone think another gig on the core is going to scale up to another 10k?
  8. i'm sorry but this comment seems like a flagrant brush-off. if this understanding were in place and was accepted practice then there would be no purge underway. as you know, the value of pc05 has been mired over time and by the stella reaction of both admins and enthusiasts this mess is being cleaned up. to denigrate a fair comment in such a condescending manner does no-one a service.
  9. i suspect ECS' issue lies in the obvious - they need a really good product, reasonably priced and they need to get them in the hands of benchers and reviewers to boost public awareness. noting a few industry trends: EVGA - solely existing off the work they did with x58, (just look at the abortion the z77 ftw is), but by making everything matt black the epeen kiddies are happy to a degree, (see numerous other manufacturers doing the same) but have a look at the buyer reviews on newegg or amazon. outside the results from kingpin and their classified gfx range their brand is pretty ordinary today imo. DFI - was the pinnacle benchers choice for ages but serving only a niche market they eventually pulled domestic offerings. ABIT & EPoX - poor support leading to 'bs brand status and bust'. Gigabyte & Asus - delivering consistent products over the entire range and with a brand/reputation department that actually does a dam good job. MSI - also delivering a consistent product with fairly good support epically in the budget sector. they also spend on getting the word out there. as to your question on bios the guru review said it pretty well. If a friend/client asked me about ECS, what would i say? never heard of them. (would lie because the brand over here is almost non-existent (Australia)).
  10. thank you so much for this guys. everything is much more clear and i look forward to passing a few runs and moving forward with pc05
  11. with this thread being titled 'clarification in PCMark' i have to say that to date there is little clarification on what tweaks/cheats are permitted and which are not. i've thoroughly enjoyed playing with pc05 for quite some time but due to not knowing what is legit or not i have refrained from making any pc05 subs of value, (outside of one a few weeks ago testing while testing raid cards). with a good proportion of tips listed in Christian Ney's PCMark05 tweaking thread can we just not take the op as a start point and put a green/red mark against each as a means of highlighting tweak vs cheat. sweet, i hope that you have not been offended by borandi's post because he highlights a number of very valid points. i hold all admins in high regard and am greatful for all the time and effort thats put in modorating the bot. i do see the need however for an admin / mod who has a solid background in this benchmark to have more input in this thread. much is unclear atm other than replacing files for TE being ruled as cheating, (honestly i am stunned that this was ever considered kosha). for many pc05 is great fun and for those that have invested in kit to do things legit the last thing anyone wants to see is the benchmark getting scrubbed because we can't define what is clean and what is cheating.
  12. um... the use of batch files to change drive letter has been standard practice for quite some time by many and has been openly discussed. are we going to be done with the 220mb cap so no need for this sort of tweaking, limit speeds on general hdd & virus scan or permit scripting? agreed. can someone explain where powertoy sits when compared to fd2? i've always taken fancycache as a total no go with the above rule but whats the go with rst? can we please have a clear / firm re-write of the benchmark rules as they are ambiguous and open to individual interpretation, even with this thread imo.
  13. Half - only the ssds. Bloated os and mostly untweaked. I'm just getting the hardware in place and doing some test runs.
  14. hi, our team is currently listed with 4 captains: http://hwbot.org/team/overclockers_australia_ocau/#Members the team was originally listed by aussie-revhead but down the track another member, Snappy1 was voted in as our chair: http://hwbot.org/user/snappy1 we have another 3 other captains listed that have nothing to do with the team, have never had anything to do with the team and have never made a sub for the team: TMM http://hwbot.org/user/tmm/ tmmtmm http://hwbot.org/user/tmmtmm/ skootyOCAU http://hwbot.org/user/skootyocau/ what can we, as a team, do to have Snappy1 added to the captaincy and have the above 3 removed? cheers
  15. it's an elegant method using minimal script and much much easier to implement than using ping loops setup up as a timer. automating drive change with scripted triggers - i like it. another thing to add to the list of things to look in to… i'm still stuck playing with blinds and textpad
  16. i've been reading sav's method of changing drive letters on the fly with batch files and a timer. its nice but i like to use a slightly different method and it's about time i contributed to the thread. >build a batch file that uses diskpart & txt file for commands to change drive letters. >create a shortcut to the batch. >edit the properties of the shortcut to run the bat minimised. >assign the shortcut a skortcut key. if your using multiple drives you can create multiple bats to simply cascade the drive letters round truly on the fly > press your skortcut key and the drive letter changes - done. (it's even easier on a macros enabled board like a g15 )
