  1. Never heard of that one... I thought the 2400c8 pis were the best for g.skill Any interest in samsung 1gb rev D? Like the patriot 2000 9-9-9 2v kits. Of all that, I think I envy your GTX8 the most Very rare. That and the nice BBSE. Speaking of D9GT, I recently bought a lot of 25 2gb dimms from ebay for a bit under $150 shipped. One bad pic, and advertised as all 1866mhz+. It had a 2x2 kit of OCZ Reaper 1800 8-8-8 1.9v among other things. That should be D9GT. I've also got some mushkin blackline 1600 7-7-6, and 4 dimms on single sided OCZ 2000 9-9-9, which I pulled the spreaders to confirm that it is D9GTR. The rest of the kit was 5 dimms of 2000c8 hypers (4 kingston, 1 Dom GT), 3 kingston 2000c9 (BDBG probably, no stripes), 5 dimms of 2000c8 dom GT PSC, 6 dimms of ripsjaws 2000c9 PSC, 2 dimms of the patriot green heatspreaders 2000 9-9-9 2.0v, and one each of ripjawsX 2133 9-11-9 PSC, and patriot viper extreme 1866 9-11-9, unknown IC. Pretty lucky lot buy IMO My wishlist includes too much, but probably tops is some nice flares and perfect storm. That and the aforementioned cellshock 2000 9-8-7 kit.
  2. Damn that's nice! I would 100% put it to use.
  3. Hah, the mystery has been solved ?. Indeed I did I also found a 6 dimm set of team xtreem 1866 9-9-9 which turned out to be XDW. I haven't had that particular code yet. And a lot of 25x 2gb sticks rated 1866+, the pics were lousy, but it sure seemed like there were perfect storm heatspreaders hiding in the back. Please feel free to elaborate on the X/T/R deal, I'm all ears.
  4. I just had a hell of a time freezing a 4790k that does pretty good on air. But with DICE I ran into bad stability problems after 45 minutes or so, pulled everything apart and re-insulated, tried again and about 45 minutes later I'm stuck on boot loop again, unable to post. This chip is delidded, it's got generous TIM on the die, although I didn't put any on the bunch of SMDs next to the die. I seem to remember people saying you needed to re-seal it with RTV if you are going to freeze it safely... is that the case? Or is it fine to just put the IHS back on loosely with plenty of TIM? I suppose it's also possible that it's cold bugging at -60 or so, because with DICE and a heavy pot it takes 45 minutes to get down below -60. I haven't heard of devils canyon cold bugging at only -60 tho...

    Dewar

I'm in tulsa OK, if you have a 20L or 30L dewar collecting dust, I can come pick it up. Ideally without a 6-8 hour drive. Much past that and shipping it becomes worth it.
  6. What are some of rarest, highest bin, or noteworthy for some other reason, kits you own or would like to? I personally want a 4x8gb trident X 2666c11 because it's probably the highest performance 32gb ddr3 kit ever made (for 24/7 use, run at XMP), since all the higher spec MFR kits were 2 dimm kits, and I have doubts about haswell or Ivy-E handling all slots populated at 2800+. Let me know if there was a better 4x8gb kit, or an 8x8gb 2666c11 kit made. I also want one of the Cellshock Diablo micron D9 kits rated 2000 8-7-6 because they looked cool, and that's about the highest spec for D9s as far as I know. What about you?
  7. Ok that makes sense. What do you think is the best spec that T/R might have? And on closer inspection I'm about 70% sure the seventh character is a B. Hard to tell because of the weird glue they used, I was unable to find a better method for getting it off the IC than my fingernail. Kind of detrimental to the text underneath. The risk is half the fun of it tho...
  8. Common wisdom seems to be that if it's after week 1020, it's going to be T/R instead of X. Does this apply only to low bin, or to all G.Skill PSC? And what about other manufacturers with easily identifiable date codes ex. Kingston, Corsair? I haven't got many rams, but all of my PSC is X series, even tho some dates are after week 20. (2) PI 1600 7-8-7 date 1050, X series (3) Ripjaws 2000 9-9-9 date 1021, X series (3) Trident 2000 9-9-9 date 1008, X series (2) Sector 5 2400 9-11-9 Don't know how to parse date code, X series Side note - did anyone very recently grab some 2000 9-9-9 flares from ebay? If so were they X or T/R? Bonus question - what is this?
  9. This is some good shit You're a hero.
  10. Good thing I'm broke. Been looking for some of the stuff here...
  11. No, it really wasn't. I'm out of ideas so I suppose I'll put it back on the shelf. Throwing things away is hard for me I have looked over that thread you linked several times and tried everything including a few CPUs. When I try booting with no mems I get the same codes, so the memory fault is happening before communication with the memory, lending credence to the idea that the socket might be damaged below the pins. There were bent pins, but I fixed them, and they're making contact. The pic of blown up SMDs in that thread is on the back of the board in the general area of the memory, but mine look fine. I haven't tested with DMM, only visual. Can you test for continuity between the fingers in the mem slot and a CPU pin? Carefully, of course.
  12. https://www.evga.com/support/manuals/files/132-BL-E758.pdf The manual doesn't even have those codes, but in various forums people are saying they're memory related. Incidentally the only pin that I'm somewhat unsure about isn't a memory pin, it's one of a large number of similar core power pins.
  13. I know no one has time for this (I don't even have time for this), but if someone has any idea, I'd be grateful! I acquired a "for parts" 132-BL-E758, one of the first batch of 1366 boards, basically for free, allegedly with bent pins. I found a few mildly bent pins, straightened them out, and can't for the life of me get it to post. Googling shows me that lots of people had issues with these boards, and in my experience EVGA boards are finicky at best. Any ideas? I'm getting FF-F3-F6-62 loop, and a thorough visual inspection reveals nothing has popped.
  14. Definitely more sad to see you go than I am excited to see such hardware available. And I was even looking for some of that.
  15. Wanted! Dead or Alive Does anyone have any of these sitting around? 7800 GTX 512mb (Ideally with waterblocks if you have them) 8800 GTX 768mb (Ideally with waterblocks if you have them) Titan X maxwell w/waterblock or just waterblock Pentium 4 EE 3.73Ghz Pentium D EE 840 Pentium D EE 965 C2D X6800 C2Q QX6700 2 or more 8gb sticks of MFR 2666c11+ e5-1680 v2 (Ivy-EP) Lastly, any golden haswell CPU that you are content with selling for a less than golden price.
  16. 5ghz cache seems stable, but gives no discernible benefit over 4.8ghz. But it might be a good idea to just go to 4ghz to take it out of the question. I'll try other voltage settings later, maybe this evening. The reason I was doing min stable IOD is that I found that less IOD = higher max vDIMM, although that was with BBBG. I've left no timings to training, RTL/IOL are at 40-41-4-4, and terts are 6-6-6-18-5-5-5-6-6-15-15-15-13-2-2 IIRC. Fast boot is still off however. These terts are from my ultra loose binning profile and they're 100% stable, since they've been set that way while running pi ~100 times so far. When you are testing memory, how many runs do you do to test the effects of a tweak? I've been doing 5 runs with full optimizations+waza. More runs = smaller margin of uncertainty, but it's very time consuming. 4ghz will make it more so
  17. So I'm very new to memory OC, and I've been trying to get some PSC to work for me. I've made 100+ 32m runs with this pair of sticks over a couple of weeks on air, testing the effect of each timing I tweak and OS tweaks. I have tried up to 2.05v once to see how high vDIMM they will take, but all the rest has been 1.92 or a little lower, min for stability. Vcore 1.31 / 50x Vcache 1.42 / 50x Vin 1.72 VSA .05 VIOA +.16 VIOD -.08 I have 10 sticks of PSC, the lowest volts for the binning profile was 1.83 for 2 of a triple kit of 2000c9 ripjaws, those are what I'm using. (My one living stick of patriot 2400c9 took 1.89v) I started from my "binning" profile "2666 9-13-9 ultra loose", and have been tightening from there, I got to 8-12-8-28-1-88-11750 tWCL 6, tRRD 4, and then the stability problems started... Been pulling my hair out trying to find out why they won't do what should be simple secondary timings like tWR <16, tRTP <6 etc, and now I'm getting out of round with just the basic 2666 9-13-9 ultra loose profile with a fresh OS. Have a killed them?
  18. Has anyone else experienced this? 100% stable with waza, I can run 32m 10 times no problems, but if I disable HT I bsod randomly, sometimes freeze in the middle of a run or in bios. But when 32m can complete sometimes, and when it does the times are good. I only completed once but it was ~0.6 seconds faster than with HT.
  19. ahhhhhh yes an RMA. @TaPaKaH I was mostly referring to the DDR2 in 2013 thing. The label says 2013, the SN week number checks out, but it's the old red heatsink sticker and it's DDR2... My weak mind is easily bewildered.
  20. Surely my eyes deceive me... this is fake, right?? https://www.ebay.com/itm/4GB-2x2GB-PC2-8500-DDR2-1066-G-SKILL-BLACK-PI-Ram-Memory-Kit-F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI-B/233647730876?epid=133721088&hash=item36667d70bc:g:VPgAAOSw1NhfC4JX
