AMD has long history of great microarchitecture. As example Athlon 64 (64-bit)

32849664808_e910441e6d_c.jpg

3rd Generation was teased oN CES 2019, with information of launch will be "in half of this year". What next? We know, IPC will be better than Pinnacle RIdge, its redesigned CPU as chiplet 7nm + IO part on 14nm. Also FP unit is much stronger in theory.

Ryzen 3rd generation will be propably Leadership in performance, performance/watt/features

32849664698_e35552a43a_c.jpg

AMD show included CinebenchR15 demo of ES Ryzen chip 8C/16T not at final clocks against Intel i9-9900K (8C/16T with MCE enabled). Both platform have the same GPU, RAM (2666MHz), PSU.

46724694341_0df72c7a1f_c.jpg

we can see, AMD CPU was slighltly better, but power consumption was much better, In CPU part only  seems as half of 9900K power consumption in R15!

45999975434_a627d64828_c.jpg

Later Lisu Su confirmed, there is possible to launch more than CPU with one chiplet (so 10C/20T or 12C/24T or..up to 16C/32T). Ant thats still for mainstream AM4 socket! But back to eight core thinking...

We know, the Pinnacle Ridge (Zen+ core) can hit 2050 points in Cinebench R15 on 4450 MHz without big tweaks (4400MHz with tweaks and high clocks RAM). In theory, ES sample of Zen2 procesor could worked on 4000 MHz or 4200 MHz in load of all cores. I heard from guys, the ES on CES has max boost (XFR or something similar for light load) up to 4.6 GHz

ok, we are close to launch...AMD must celebrating because it is 7nm  :) 27th May AMD will demonstrated something interesting at Keyonote.

It is more than clear, we will see more than 8 cores for mainstream desktop. We know, there are last samples based on new B revision and with up to 16C/32T. Still AM4 socket. But more important are CPUs with less than 16C on the start :)

We know details about chipset

image.thumb.png.c69299a3dee58951f67f23eecbdbcd04.png

https://www.hkepc.com/17968/

IPC could be very solid, propably similar (or better clock to clock) as Core 9th gen!

SUMMARY NOTES
AMD CPU launch will be  7.7. 2019

47940304461_6176bc9260_c.jpg
New chipset name is AMD X570 with PCIe 4.0. (on the photo is Crosshair VIII motherboard)

47940435172_f19395cb56_c.jpg
IPC improvement is high 15%! It was supposed to be originally 10%. Doubled  FP and also doubled size of cache.

47940453068_a9a29dc7a3_c.jpg
CPUs can be up to 16C/32T in theory, AMD showed CPU with two chiplets.  At launch day minimal 3 models are ready.

Ryzen 7 3700X, CPU with high performance and clocks are  3.6 GHz baseclock and turbo up to 4.4 GHz and TDP only 65W (it is 8C/16T CPU)!
47940469056_9c19e7d435_c.jpg
-much better performance than current flagship Ryzen 7 2700X (propably close to 9900K in performance)

Ryzen 7 3800X is again eightcore with SMT, baseclock 3.9 GHz and turbo up to 4.5 GHz, TDP 105W
47940469051_979a69edeb_c.jpg
Surprise is the 3800X defeat i9-9900K not only in multithread  CinebenchR20 benchmark, but also in single thread. And i9-9900K has much higher clocks for single thread ( 5 GHz).

Finally, new Ryzen 9 is here! Information about the incoming  flagship Ryzen 9 3900X with 12C/24T. Default clocks is 3.8 GHz and turbo up to 4.6 GHz. TDP is still solid 105W!
47940453013_7b41fc85c4_c.jpg
performance demo test against Intel HEDT i9-9920X :)...

Price list.

According to results so far, IPC on Zen 2 is far better than Zen 1 and Coffee Lake. 3700X seems to trade blows with the 9900k, better in productivity/compute and worse in gaming. Power draw is really good, and so are temps. Clocks haven't really improved.

I have updated the ZenStates app (fork of elmor's app) with Matisse support: https://github.com/irusanov/ZenStates/releases

AFAIK elmor doesn't work for Asus anymore and is not maintaining it, so I've made my own version. You can see the commits on the linked repo.

The difference is that there's no vendor check, so it should work on all motherboards from all vendors, plus the added Zen2 support.

I've tested it on Asrock B350 K4 and verified it works. If it works on Zen2 too, then it might help in benchmark scores a little.

As always, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I don't have a Zen2 CPU to try it myself, all I did is add the CPUIDs.

You can see the gains on my local hw forum I use: https://hardwarebg.com/forum/showthread.php/273143-AMD-RYZEN-CPU-(AM4)-2017-г?p=4983653&viewfull=1#post4983653

This is with the first version without Matisse support. For the latest release, check the github link.

PS: I'm a web developer, so this is not my field of programming. Don't expect new features or easy/quick fix of existing bugs (if any).

I will try to do my best supporting it, however, if there's someone else with more experience, feel free to fork it or submit merge requests.

Edit // Original thread: https://www.overclock.net/forum/13-amd-general/1684897-asus-zenstates-17.html

All credits go to elmor (Jon Sandström) and ASUS.
