MaddMutt
I just got the z690 Apex 🙂 I got it a week after the z690 Hero as I could not get win 7 to install. I'm 95% sure that it was a NVMe error as I got it to install on the Apex with a SSD. Here's the question : I installed 2 x gtx-590's on the Hero but was unable to get them to SLI under windows 8.1/10 as I've used win 7 for these older cards. I've now switched to the Apex and I get a d4 error (PCI resource allocation error) when I have the second gtx-590 installed. Does anyone know how to fix this on the Apex?? Thank You For Your Time 👍 Here's a link to my submission for GPUPI with the 2x gtx-590's https://hwbot.org/submission/5545348_ https://hwbot.org/submission/5545352_ Here's a screen shot of the setup 🙂
Seby
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o2vVkMRurpZpaJ9OAf1f1pCPWTiqHj3M/view?usp=sharing You can try flashing this bios with USB BIOS flashback and seeing if it makes a difference, but it's interesting that it worked on the hero. If that one doesn't work, I posted another one I did in a slightly different way on discord bios mods channel Edited April 28 by Seby
MaddMutt
Do I need to rename it to something special? I tried though the BIOS and was told that it was not a true bios file. I then tried it though BIOS FLASHBACK (renamed to sli_cf_bios.cap and slibios.cap) and it didn't flash 😞 Thank You
Seby
MZ690A.CAP like detailed in the normal bios downloads on asus support page. Or you can use biosrenamer.exe that is included with the downloads there Edited May 2 by Seby
MaddMutt
This is a UpDate to this thread and also my question. I was unable to get the z690 Apex working with a Quad - Setup ( I also did not want to BORK the board AND did not try harder). <- If anyone gets this to work, PLEASE leave feed back 🙂 I went back to my z690 Hero ( BIOS 3401 ) and have Benched/Submitted scores from both 2x SLI (GTX-6xx) and Quad SLI (GTX-590/690). ^ The Asus z690 Hero and Gigabyte z690 Aorus Tachyon <- From Scores Submitted by MATSGLOBETROTTER — CAN run Quad SLI - For those that are interested. 👍 Thank You For Your Time 😎
