retail wont be much better

batches for 4770k have been getting worse. the silicone qiuality is going down down down. vids are getting higher, and cpus are getting hotter. devils canyon uses the same machines so i dont expect anything new. unless they clean that dirty 4770k fab :P

I guess that's gonna be the case with Pentium G3258 as well ...

Officially I surrender. My good looking Haswell died during testing CB on low volts (1.5v), going from -80*C to -105*C. I got BSOD and that's all.   It was QEH6 ES reviewer sample. 1.275v 4/8 @ 5 G

Not often we see a decline in quality by time lol... Are Intel getting sloppy? Why would they not improve stepping like wolfdale C0-->E0, Nehalem C0-->D0 etc.

machines are getting tired. they need some grease. or oil. or coal

:)

I'm pretty sure Intel know how to maintain their fab. Either way, this is an obvius sign of Intel relaxing when AMD is out of the game that's for sure :(

Intel relaxing when AMD is out of the game

Haswells are not competing with AMD, they are competing with Ivy Bridge. It's been like that for a long time, AMD is not an excuse for coldbugs and low average quality of silicon :)

Just got my 4790K retail today.

So far i'm not impressed. I cant even boot my 4770K 5 GHz profile on single stage.

Least you got a 2014 chip, I got a crappy 2013 chip that is like 20 units away from the ES chip's batches.

I got L336D106.

Wont boot into windows over 4.8ghz, but once in windows I can get a 5ghz screenshot at 1.45v only just.

All the best with new chip.

The issue i got is that my Z97 SOF Force just says C0 on the display every time i boot even at 4.5 ghz.

Don't know if it's cpu related or just some error on the board.

Which BIOS you running?

Try to Clear_CMOS.

Edit:

My 4770K is on A0.

Nice.....seems batch L418Cxxx is not bad...

You can boot with 5 GHz?

Nope

Everytime i change something in the bios and reboot i get that C0 error.

Boot with less voltage and make all in Windows ;)

C0 get's trickered everytime i change a voltage setting.

Well. Volt ajustment in windows works fine.

Running 5 GHz superpi 32M with 1.24 volt vcore now

What settings are you running for this please?

I can get my 4790K into windows up to 4.8ghz, but over that it doesnt boot to windows no matter what, always cuts out at the blue login screen same moment every time regardless of vcore.

thanks

Pretty much stock voltage on everything except vcore.

But remember that i'm testing on single stage not air.

MInd posting a screenshot of the 5ghz?

Your DC chip is probably the best on the interweb at the moment.

edit: Single stage? You mean phase change?

Wouldnt make a difference wether your at -100c or 80c, either your cpu will boot 5ghz or it wont.
