ROG Maximus XII Apex
marco.is.not.80 replied to FireKillerGR's topic in Comet Lake (Z490) & Rocket Lake (Z590) OC
I don''t know if anyone else has experienced this but with mode 1 I move the IO Latency offset down (ie. 21 to 20 to 19 to 18, etc.) and with mode 2 I move the IO Latency offset up (ie. 21 to 22 to 23 to 24, etc.) both with the purpose of getting IO latency and RTLs to train tighter. -

This is where I found it and believe it is the original place of origin: -

With BIOS 0088 and txp 4, ppd 0 and tcke 0 I get an amazing 39.4 ms latency score. Before someone says that sucks please realize I'm getting this with dual ranked 2x16Gb DIMMs. See below: These are 24/7 memtested settings and even with a fairly high CL of 16 and CR of 2T I still manage to get 39.4 - sweet. Thanks Sparky and Asus team! -

You mean those settings were added to the BIOS? That's awesome - I was having to change them in MemTweakIt so this is awesome news. I know most here already know but in case you don't those two settings will get you a great bump in lower latency in AIDA64. -

I understand that you are saying that with the absence of VccIn on the 10900k whatever Intel is telling us makes no sense and that only some Intel engineer hidden in Portland somewhere knows the answer. How is that? Thank god for video games! -

Thank you both for taking the time to answer my questions regarding the vrm2.exe tool and my amperage inquiry. Falkentyne, you say "So no I can't answer this" but in reality you may not be able to say exactly what the maximum is but certainly we can deduce that as one is approaching 200 amps it might be best to consider not going much further ? Is that fair? -

OC Family, I just got my Apex XII and a 10900k (can't believe I found both in stock at the same place at the same time - thumbs up for www.neweggbusiness.com) and have a few questions. 1) Can someone explain to me what exactly the legacy memory mode is all about and do I need to worry about it if I'm just running the stock latest BIOS from the Asus support site? Also, all this talk about A2 only - is this just in regards to the high clock/low latency settings (like 4800 14-13-13 or whatever)? 2) The VRM tool listed in the first post - It works how? I just make a task scheduler event and run it at login!??! What does it do exactly? What should I be looking for when monitoring the changes it makes? 3) I was pulling 190 amps according to hwinfo by doing an overclock of 52 on all cores/0 avx/50 uncore - just how many amps do you think is safe with something like chilled water setup? 4) I can't believe how cool the 10900k runs. Not a question - just a comment. Some of the reviews I've read make me wonder if they even actually used it. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks, love reading and learning from you all. Marco -

LHd, who makes all these background images for the comps? -
That worked Ksat ? Thank you. On the other hand I submitted to the wrong category and just beat Dancop for the world record in Cinebench 11.5... See my other thread ?

Let me try again and see if that works for me, thanks Ksateaaa...

Not sure if my account is bugged or not but I'm not getting points for this season from any of the events but I'm aware that is a known issue. My issue is none of my non-event oriented benchmarks are getting my season stats going. What do I need to do?

Just so you know I didn't mean to suggest I would be using Crossfire (and pretty sure that's not allowed) but rather I purchased an extra one in case I blow the first one up modding it. -
In the end it turns out that my entry being removed had nothing to do with clipping and it would have been accepted except I had accidentally covered up the part showing the version information for CPU-Z. Not sure anyone would've actually noticed that except for the guy sitting in second place to me but since it was called out Leeghoofd made the right call and removed it. Hey at least it pushed my team mate up a few notches. Anyways, I already mentioned this in another thread but the despite not taking 1st place cbjaust's epic AMD entry for 3dPhysics was mind blowing and I had a lot of fun trying to tune my own Ryzen accordingly. I couldn't solve the riddle he obviously had figured out but in doing so I ended up with a tune that got me two 1st places in two of the other benchmarks (was 2 before 1 entry was removed for the screenshot violation). I'm surprised no one else is making a big deal out your epic benchmark, CB. I mean look at that order. Intel owns the whole thing with all Ryzen's sitting at the bottom except one lonely entry at the top doing a lap dance on Intel's face. Maybe I need to get out more but I thought it looked awesome. Marco PS: Apologies to moderators. I don't know how many permanent points I can have on my account before it ends my time at hwbot but it certainly don't want another one and thanks to George was gracious enough to change my wording and still keep my post up. That being said - I still think Simi is a douchebag and next time we compete he can cry like a little girl not just because I'm better but because I bought an 8k display the size of a small shed where I have four instances CPU-Z, three instances GPU-Z, four tabs of HWInfo, a live web cam displayed in a docklet, benchmate and event viewer showing the system logs and a big background picture of his mom.

Ya, well, not sure what to do - there is only so much space on the screen. You'd think after all these years I'd have had this problem before but this was my first time doing Cinebench v20 and I had no idea it would take up more space than 1920 x 1080 could support. Now I know for next time. I assume anyone who benched it with 1920 x 1080 or less will have there entries disqualified ... EDIT: I just went and checked a bunch of the other entries - the only people that can pull off an acceptable screenshot are those running 2k screens and higher. Something is wrong when a benchmark requires a bigger screen than the resolution of the official background. EDIT2: I'd also mention that normally this kind of thing can be solved by simply going and checking the example on the official benchmark page. In this case there i none so I guess most of us went with "make sure the taskbar is not covered and the windows clock is visible and if you have to touch anything make sure the official benchmark is the one covering stuff and not the other way around." Would be good to know what the proper way to do it would be for next time.

Well guys, I gave it my all but can't solve the the puzzle behind a couple of these benchmarks. Still got lots to learn but by far the best part of this competition was getting my hands dirty with a new platform (AMD) and by the looks of how things are going in CPU land it looks like there will be lots of AMD in my future, too :-)

Who said anything about cheating? Running or not running hwinfo isn't going to change your scores. Leeg is making sure you follow the rules. A runner who has a false start of the line isn't cheating. Too many false starts and they will get disqualified. The fact that you are claiming to never cheat is by far a much more suspicious item of interest than if you ran hwinfo after the benchmark rather than before...

Friends, Has anyone else seen this: https://www.quantacool.com/polarbox-cpu-cooler Please comment - but no pumps? No water? No problem? Polarbox? I watched the video and am having a hard time believing this actually works but I probably didn't pay enough attention in science class. Loved to hear from more knowledgeable members.

Ya, I saw his Facebook page and it seems like the guy just disappeared. I was hoping that someone from our community actually knew him and could let us know whatever happened. Actually, MR - do you know if anyone has released any products like it that were ever available? Marco

Anyone know anything about this guy or whatever happened with his idea?
