  1. From my understanding after reading that datasheet again is that the Virtu MVP technology, as in how they do it is to give the output buffering tasks to the iGPU, opening up resources for the dGPU, so it doesn't have to worry about output buffering, and the monitor will be connected to the iGPU anyways. Then it also speeds up responsiveness of keyboards and mice through its vsync option. THe have some theoretical setups, but even the last one in the datasheet, requires a dual core iGPU, as in still needs two GPUs, one to handle output buffering and one to handle processing. Is there another way to measure GPU performance other than FPS? 3DMark counts FPS. Maybe 3DMark should add the ability to tell if Virtu is enabled, please do this, also add the option to tell if some other things in the program are enabled or disabled. BTW if its too good to be true it probably is? I think Ivy Bridge is full of that, we just saw 7g, too good to be true, let's ban it guys! No one wants!
  2. If that software described on Ludic's site? no. Why? Just like a lot of Lucid software/hardware, it probably never made it to full scale production. IMO that software for just a single dGPU with NO iGPU should be not allowed. However the hybrid with iGPU i my opinion should be used can be used. In this case you are bringing in another piece of un-used hardware, I believe that the stand alone MVP is called something else , it has odd numbered name. Anyways, it isn't called MVP: "When we expressed our consternation about the IGP + GPU hardware requirement to Remez, he quickly steered us to another demo of an early, in-development software product Lucid calls Virtu XLR8. This program is essentially a stand-alone version of HyperFormance capable of running on a single GPU. Remez said using only one GPU for the whole enchilada adds some overhead (though he didn't use the word "enchilada," sadly), but Lucid is in the early stages of building a solution anyhow." http://techreport.com/articles.x/21682/2 My final words, I see nothing wrong with software that uses both iGPU and dGPU, however dGPU alone should not be helped by software alone. However that software isn't the same name, and what is what I am saying, besides I doubt it is as effective. Either way there first is one problem, can we detect this? Will 3DMark and Unigine add ways to detect?
  3. Why not give it a one or two week grace period like suggested for 7970?
  4. OBR the MVP type that only works on one GPU currently in not available, it is in the works as far as one article i read said. If that type of software which ONLY requires the dGPU to work is there, i don't think it should be allowed. However this current MVP under my understanding, REQUIRES iGPU. Second of all from my knowledge MVP doesn't work with 1 GPU currently, and MVP doesn't work with more than 1 dGPU. The iGPU takes over some of the tasks, such as the output buffering, in that case it is working together in some way. I think it is very clear who hates this, those that are trying to sell GPUs, with this technology it makes it very hard to sell SLI and CrossFireX, as well as high-end GPUs to people who want a certain amount of framerates. Not to us, we will buy SLI/CF, but many gamers might not if what Lucid and the first comparison claims is true. All companies will have this technology on launch, why wouldn't you? I though it is just a licensing thing? It would be interesting if Intel allows MVP to be licenses to Z68, as they demoed on Z68 but it never happened, as I saw the demo at IDF. it looked too good to be true, but if you consider how powerful the SNB iGPU was at transcoding, and how the IVB is supposed to be better. A way to see if this really matters is to look to see if you OC the iGPU whether framerates increase. I still have to properly analyze this technology for myself, i would bet with the multi-gpu(MVP) configuration, there would be microstuttering, microstuttering happens FYI in cases when there are multi-GPU technology. If there is a lot of microstuttering it would make sense that this technology is a form of SLI. If there is no Microstuttering and the FPS are constant high, then it might be cheating. Someone can you analyze this?
  5. ...when you go out on Friday night to the mall, but to search for a bigger stainless steel thermos so you waste less LN2, after you gave it enough thought you realized you would save more LN2 if you opened the top and poured it into a larger container that would stay colder, thus less dewar exposure. ...When you regularly go to an art store to find a specific brand of eraser, and the lady asks "are you an artist?" and you say hell no. And she doesn't give you a weird look. ...When your benching rig is 10x more expensive and better than your main rig, yet you spend 1/5 the time on it.
  6. well i see your point, maybe if HWBot was to do something like limit the scores with it used to only certain hardware categories, or only certain categories can use it. Who knows.
  7. can i ask you, will Ivy bridge not make everyone re-bench every title held by Sandy Bridge+all the benchmarks that SB was frequency limited on? If that is the case and you have to re-bench it all b/c people will re-bench it all to begin with? I understand what you say, but you are making it sound like MVP will make a inferior piece of hardware perform more superior, when infact it already would be more superior. I can see your guy's points, but why not wait for release to see how it actually performs? You haven't tried it, I haven't tried it, but if it is getting all this amount of attention it must be something.
  8. I vote allow. you guys vote against, can I ask why? Are you too lazy to OC the iGPU and to configure this program? You guys allow so many other tweaks to be used, but not one that actually revolutionizes gaming? There is not point in using any of the sub-par Intel overclocking systems released in the past year, just to send a direct message to Intel please don't give us CPUs that don't OC to 6GHz, and cost more than we should be paying, and which clock so differently, it makes OCing less fun. So when SB came out was there this much cry to not let SB be used b/c it would overtake the rankings? http://www.lucidlogix.com/download/WP-Eliminating%20Graphics%20Pipeline%20Redundancies%20181011.pdf I see what you mean you will lose points to software, but it is more than software, as the iGPU is being used. it is like Hybrid CF with Intel.
  9. So he wants to give away a GPU to increase traffic to his site? Why would HWBot have anything to do with that? They have their own sponsors who they give that exclusive opportunity too. There are tons of companies and sites that want to give away free stuff and hold a competition for it, or something like saying like, or signing up for something. If one website says no you move on. I know that on OCN thessdreview was allowed to do such a thing. I know on TPU if you ask them they have a special section of their news that is like give-aways and such. There are many sites that post news for other sites, no matter their size, that might be willing to post it. After-all there are many people who want free stuff. There are rules and you gotta follow them, at OCN for instance i can't post a link to my own site, but others can. At XS I can post a link directly to my site because i pay that $25 a year subscription, in which I have 0 idea how that goes to make the servers run faster or even stay on for a while lol. There are rules you gotta follow them and not get so angry about them, these are private websites, it is how the internet works.
  10. when you move your benching area to the biggest room in your house b/c you ran out of room in your usual place.
  11. is it possible to knock out? that is what i wanted to do, but it seems like it was processed and then cooled and wont come out. But i also know you guys do crazy things that i wouldn't think are possible. gangsta.
  12. haha yes I saw your infamous Llano WR! sick man!
  13. Ahh okay i didn't know that. how do you get the thing to mount? i have been trying to break off these metal legs, but i cannot! I am going to try and use it, i got a lot of memory, but no memory pot.
  14. Remember how Intel CPU cooler have that copper core and usually are hollow under the fan? well I was just checking my old Q6600 cooler, i took the fan off, and there is a very sizable hollowness. Now i gave it some thought, first of all it would work, as poorly as it would, it still would work. Such little surface area with such little mass couldn't hold much heat, but maybe it could? as this cooler is designed to handle heavy load's, maybe 1/5 of the weight of a proper pot. Anyone ever see things they thought would make great cheap POTs for people who don't want to buy one, but might wanna try Ln2 on a older system? I think it'd be a good idea, i might try this out, but i just desoldered everything off my P5K deluxe, so i don't have a board to test the CPu and Ln2 out on. I know part of the reason a lot of people don't get into the thing is because they have no idea how they will like it, and without a pot you really can't try it out. lol
  15. 20 USD to fill 10L, 35USD to fill 25L, i guess less to fill more. Dewar deposit is $65 no matter the size, except the 180L tank is $220 deposit. Rental of dewar is $100 a month. i only pay $35 to fill it, no deposit, no rental. They like me I guess. I asked another place for a quote, guy wanted $200 deposit for 25L dewar, and wanted $40 for the Ln2, it odl him i could buy a dewar for $200. Of course you do get teh $200 back, but who knows with the guys out in the middle of nowhere. The place i go to is only 45mins round trip without traffic, however its 3 hours in rush hour if i am lucky. BTW i can get LHe, they have it on-site, but they told me I have to get teh big tank, and it has to delivered and its about $800 total. With Ln2, i toss it into my car(well SUV) , don't need a truck to move around a 25L dewar, at least not in VA or maryland.
  16. maybe the vcore being over 1.4v is degrading more than VCCSA and VCCIO? but it shouldn't affect memory OC, right? But when I had issues getting 2400 i increase vcore and it became much easier. I don't know why that happens like that with my C0. Just thinking out loud. sorry
  17. Awesome work! Nice clean job, and a nice clean guide.
  18. Intel states 1.4v on either VCCSA or VCCIO is max, which is heavily raised from the Sb limits.
  19. so it cannot do 5843 at all? Even when cooled lower to confirm binning method?
